Alas, no. Not as far as I know at least. Would be very usefull yes.
As for my first time, it was pretty good. The flash was weird and the gameplay not great, but it was quite artistic and original. Another great thing aout it was my music was featured next to great artists such as NemisisTheory yet it managed to hold its own somehow.
I think 2/3rd of the projects I've been asked for, (some I've even specifically made things for,) I've never been able to find. Many projects have probably been canceled without the creators letting me know. Often I find out someone used a song by me in a project and they haven't told me.
All in all, I've been involved with some nice projects over time. I hope it will only get better. I'm working on some promising things right now.
Happy birthday Neon Bard! May you have lots of presents, friends, cakes and drinks!

Aw, too bad. I think you can still make something. Often a few people don't get their present (in time). There's Always use for some backup songs to avoid disappointments. I would surely enjoy one song extra.
My vocal tracks aren't received very well. Most people even notice it's a vocal track, but that's probably because my voice naturally sounds like a musical instrument. Listeners are like "What's up with that broken trumpet?"... Anyway I think it's because newgrounds was intended for flash games and films there's so much instrumental music. Vocal tracks are always welcome imo.
Hmmm... There's a major reason why I like to make a song for this person and a reason why I don't. The reason why I do is because I like him/her. The reason why I'm not so happy I can't say or I will spoil who I've got. Well I'l make something out of it anyway.
That's not a contest. It's a lottery.
I'm in! Anything with a 5/4 metre will do.
Congrats to Johnfn, steampianist, etherealwinds and Kor-Rune! The sigs look great.

I was down the pub last weekend and I heard some certain individuals talking about 'EDM' artists lets say.
It makes me cringe every-time I hear two completely different artists referred to under the same title.
I don't know. Maybe. Many new genre names seem to be made up to make music sell. Whenever a muscian becomes popular, other musicians and producers give that style a new name, so they can say they make the same kind of music and hike a hitch with their succes. At least that's part of it.

7th degree would be that you turn into a pile of ash but for some strange reason you still have your eyeballs and some janitor sweeps you and dumps you in the trash and now you live in trash like oscar
No wonder Oscar is so angry... I never sought that behind a children's show.

On an aside note, Justice used samples from over 400 different albums to make their first album. They didn't have permission for (most of) that, but as far as I know they never got sued.

However, the laws on copying melodies, progressions, and emulating soundscapes are far more vague. So just create whatever it is youre trying to do with original content and change a few things here and there and you'll be fine. You might not be original, but you'll stay outta trouble that way 99.9% of the time.
Yet Coldplay was sued by at least two musicians (Joe Satriani and Cat Stevens) for their song Viva la Vida, althoughthey've used 0 copyrighted samples, and the chord progression and melody of Vival la Vida is as different or similar as Joe Satriani and Cat Stevens' song as a thousand other songs. If you are an unknown musician with good songs, they will get stolen by bigger musicians, with bigger labels and better lawyers. If you are too popular, and make generic music, you will get sued for copying.
In the past I made completely original songs (mostly at least). I wasn't Always sure what I was doing and it took me at least halve a year to complete each song. Now I know more about music, and I look more at what other people do (Idon't which came first), it takes me less time to finish, but the things I do have all been done before. I don't know what's the best way to prevent that. Just create what comes into mind, instead of working methodically. If nothing comes to mind straight away, just fiddle around with instruments and see if you get inspiration. Every song sounds a little like another one though. If you rip something off chances are other people won't even notice. The songs don't sound as similar to them as they sound to you.
Good round. I thought etherealwinds would become first this year. He came out of nowhere but his scores kept on getting higher. Still he did an awesome job. But so did johnfn and steampianist. I've decided not to make a ranking list for this round or the next. It's too obvious now, so it won't contribute anything. Good luck johnfn and steampianist. May the one with the highest score win.

That's still much more advanced than mine. I have an 18 year old computer, that has been dead for at least 7 years at the head end of my. At nigh, when I go to sleep, I sometimes have a musical dream I can never remember what it's about. Only the feelings linger. The next morning I glimpse the monitor of the computer glows. When I turn my head to see, the computer dies again. Nothing happens when I try to turn it back on. I stop thinking about it, and go about my business. I forget about it and think it never happened. But after a while, usually during midday or evening, one of my friends calls me and says how they like "my new song". So I'm like "What song?" and I borrow one of my home mates' cell phones to browse the internet and listen to that new song by me that has emerged on the internet. When I hear it, all the feelings of the dream I had return, and i know it indeed is my song. I wish I had a piano and a working computer though. Sounds like fun.
The remarks HeadPhaomz made about SkyeWintrest still don't sit well with the judges it seems.
Hello welcome. No you've not been scouted for the audio portal, because you've uploaded your first song yesterday. It usually takes a while. Just keep at it and let yourself be seen in the forum, like you do now.
You're actually not allowed to make threads to advertise your songs.
If you want your song to be heard try the audio advertisement thread
http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/253861
Also helpful is the review for review thread.
http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1342843
Review the last song, and request a review for your own song.
Btw I listened to your song. I don't know much about harmonica music, but it sounds fine to me. I think the recording could've been better. You say you use audacity? You know it has a tool to remove base noise. I don't think you've used that tool. There are plenty of other ways to improve the recording process and enhance your recordings. You may want to look into them. Good luck.

It's up to the musicians. Either spend all your time on making music upload it and stay anonymous. Or offer some of your time helping fellow musicians out by providing comments, advice, hosting or taking part in contests, and receive recognition and feedback in return. There are countless musicians here. We're all in the same boat. Everyone here started out unscouted and unknown, and we earned our recognition by the same means.
The only problem is the scouting system isn't explained clearly to people with new accounts. There's lots of outdated information provided as official information on the site. People aren't tempted to check out the forum, because they don't know how it works and are afraid break the rules. On every corner of this site you get demeaning (offensive even) messages telling you to abide the rules. You get threatened to get banned before you get the chance to do anything right or wrong. For example; every time you post a new comment you get a message telling you not to be offensive, and not to (and I quote) "act like a total jerk". So the members are warned not to offend anyone, yet the creators of the site can call you "a total jerk" before you've even done anything. It's like a festival where you cannot have fun because the security has a loaded gun aimed at your head just in case you try something (to give an extreme example). Generally the moderators are pretty helpful and understanding. They sometimes ask why they have such a bad name. I think it’s because the hostile stance the auto generated messages cause.
These are all obstacles that hinder new musicians and other new members to Newgrounds. I think they should be fixed. Aside from that, people in the NG community are pretty helpful I think, so if anyone wants some recognition just make yourself visible by becoming a little active on the forums.

Ok right. That's what I thought actually. Can you tell more about the theme please.
Sot the theme is "My first..."? We can make of that whatever we like? My first kiss, my first day at school, my first hangover, my first time I drove an ostrich, etc.

We ALWAYS need judges, preferably a maximum of 5. Please note that if you do want to be a judge, results will be expected by May 14th. If results are not received by this date, your scores will not count.
If you would like to judge, send me a PM explaining why you are qualified to be one! (For judges, I'd like to see a track record of quality voice acting or a history of excellent reviews on voice acting) If there are openings, I'll send you what needs to be done!
What May 14th!!!! That means we'll have to wait 6 months for our results!!!! I know last time took long, but this is ridiculous.
So the theme is "My first..."? Could you elaborate? Give some examples and such. You went over it really fast. I didn't even notice what the theme was the first time I read the post.

Actually, if you want to be specific, World is actually a genre made up in the 90's that incorporates instruments and styles from multiple different regions and cultures, hence why it's separate from Folk music. It also includes fusion with other genres, like Ethnojazz, Folk-Rock, Viking-Metal, etc.
Obviously, most people don't know the difference, so again, we need to debate weather Folk having it's own genre is a good idea or not.
Is that so? In most music stores I've seen they have a section "world music", which exists of traditional music and is divided into different countries. That's basically the wikipedia/mundane description of the genre. That's a different one than you gave. I don't know which is the right one, but in any case the term World isn't self explanatory.
At 10/2/13 10:49 AM, Elitistinen wrote: Where is the CHIPTUNE genre???!
There definitely should be one yes. I think chiptune was popularized by video games in the 80s and most often made specifically for games. However not all chiptune (especially nowadays) is made for video games. I'd place it as a sub genre under electronic aside from the video games genre.

In my opinion World is a weird genre anyway. All music is made in the world. What music does not qualify as world music? Extraterrestrial? But I know what is meant by "World music". It almost completely exists of folk music but from different folks/cultures around the world. I think Folk is rightfully placed under World, although they may actually be synonyms. Folk is another word for people. All music is made in the world by people. Still I think world music is a strange genre, if only for the weirdness of the name. Actually Folk music is an odd genre as well for the same reasons. What music isn't made by people? Hamster Hop? Jellyfish Jazz? Fungi Funk? Maybe traditional music would be a better name? Though that will give problems as well. Is there a difference between classical and traditional? If so, is that a good thing? Anyway, I've always thought the world/folk genres were a vague area. Genres in itself I have a problem with. I just don't like to lump music into categories. Let alone people. Makes me feel xenophobic, while I try my best not to be.
