Sounds like a fair idea. I mean, the people who make dnb arent just influenced by their own country's music (we've moved past the 90's now its the age of the internets.)

just load up 1 3*3osc, set its 3 oscilators to saws and detune them all... If you havent got the desired effect, then load up one more and do the same thing and make them play the same stuff at the same time.. Repeat this process until youre happy with the result..

You should definately order them - that question is a no brainer if you ask me. I mean, when 90% of the population downloads via Limewire and other kind of stuff like that, its nice to have the "real" cd. Furthermore then you can get better quality by ripping the tracks to flac, wav or aiff and you also get the booklet :). If you are going to download anyways, i would avoid apple since they drm their music and go to Amazon, because they offer cheap(er) downloads in drm-free mp3...

Actually reaper is by no means open source, it might be free, but thats someting completely different... As for open-source DAW's there arent any good ones.. I mean, you could download a copy of ubuntustudio and then run Ardour+Hydrogen+A million of other applications, since ardour can't even handle midi, only audio :/... Me? I don't recommend doing this.. But im not saying that it can't be done, or havent been done before.. Actually i've heard 2 relatively good songs made out of nothing else that open source software...

If i understood this right, it sounds kind of unfair.. I mean, if they've already judged my song by now, what would be the point in getting more time to edit it? The new deadline should be helpful for all of us, not just for thoose who havent got anything finished yet.

Why does Danish television use tons of bundled reason dr.rex loops :/? I just saw a program called "supernabo" (it sucks really hard, but its still being broadcasted to 5mio people), it even used the loop that is loaded into the rex player when you create it... Apperently, the n00bs aren't just amateurs, theres pro n00bs too :=)

Topic: Mastering Software

Posted: 04/07/08 03:33 PM

Forum: Audio

Well.. I get the impression that you think that mastering is equal to loading your tracks in some hella expensive program, pressing a few buttons, and then having a song that is a brazillion times better than the one you putted in..

BUT.. This isn't the case, mastering is giving your recording "the final touch." Theese things are considered to master a track:
*Adding Reverb, to single or all tracks
*Panning the tracks and making full use of stereo speakers
*Cutting off frequencies so that one sound doesn't drown another
*Simply making sure that everything is as loud or silent as it should be

And mastering is the most important stage....Ok right, it isn't.. But its somehting everyone should do, since it can seperate the "pro" sounding tracks from the "n00b" sounding ones..

Use LameDropXp, its without doubt the BEST mp3 decoder avaiable out there.. It can encode to OGG and Lame Mp3 - even with VOB (variable bit rate!)

Because it is such a rare piece of software, you will have to look around for a working download link.. I don't remember were i got mine actually :/

Topic: What is this?

Posted: 04/05/08 06:47 AM

Forum: Audio

Well.. Lets look at your situation:

You mostly just convert midi's to mp3's..
If you don't, you may use a couple of garageband loops..

Im not saying that submitting songs that you've barely made yourself is wrong.. But seriously, even though it isn't wrong, people doesn't give you rewards for having discovered how to clash a song together in 2 hours..

Don't kill me now for saying this, ok?

Go for Reason, or logic.. I use the first one, simply because logic is mac only. Anyways.. The operating system on macs, is cool but its proved slover than windows xp (not vista >:( ) And it only runs on macs, they all look cool but they cost about twice as much as an equal windows pc.. So i would say that the average mac chooser is lesser informed than the average windows user..

Topic: Extract Reason's Drums Into Fl

Posted: 04/02/08 11:31 AM

Forum: Audio

In this tutorial i will teach you how to extract every single drum sound from reason and use it in fl (or your DAW of choice.)

What you will need in order to be able to complete this tutorial:
*Reason installed and working.
*A bittorent client, i recommend utorrent

After having installed utorrent and reason, go to:
mininova and download the torrent.

Go to the folder you saved it in, there should be a .exe file. Transfer it to C:\%program files%\Propellerheads\Reason\

Open it up, after that you will see a window with a file browser. Browse to C:\%program files%\Propellerheads\Reason\ and open the reason factory sound bank.

Before doing the next step make sure that you have a folder to save samples in.. Mine is D:\dokumenter\Sound_Bank\

After that browse to Redrum patches and right click on the "exclusive drums" folder, and press "extract" in the dropdown menu. Then choose to extract it to your sample folder of choice. This might take some time, so be patient!

After doing this open up FL studio, drag your sample folder into Fl's file browser, and you are done!!!

No need to rewire if its just reasons redrum you are after :D

Tip 1: Reason also provides some .wav samples that are originally used by its NNXT and NN19 samplers, you will find them inside their respective folders inside the sound bank.

Tip 2: You can only extract .wav's or .aiff's don't try to extract anything else, it simply wont work, trust me..

Happy sampling! :D

I'll be updating this in this newspost..

I tend to use ableton now, since it is probhably easier than everything else (especially fl, trust me on this) (therefore faster to learn) you don't even really have to watch or read tutorials, unless you wanna do something really special..

Sorry for all the (()))()())))(())()()'s i can't help it.. (:P)
