You can purchase them individually or in a pack on PSN as well. I picked up the first one and I'm having a blast. I make it a point to collect every precursor orb and am about 70% through the campaign. Unfortunately they didn't fix the camera issues with the first, and the game isn't really in HD. The games are still solid though.

They're great games, people should try them.

It's best you never play it. If it's anything like any other game the internet never shuts up about, it will have been hyped to the point where you will be disappointed simply by looking at it. Same reason I didn't like chrono trigger. Better off letting your imagination think whatever it wants to. The game will only be good in your mind.

What the hell kind of motto is this? Of course people hype up games all the time, but there's nothing wrong with giving a game a shot. If you happen to like it, then awesome! You have now found another game you love and look forward to. If you don't like it, whatever. Move on to another game.

Not trying a game because people hype it up will seriously leave you out of a lot of amazing experiences. It's all amount of opinion but I have completed both Chrono Trigger and Psychonauts and they are both solid games.

Response to: HD Remakes Posted February 8th, 2012 in Video Games

I think they're a pretty good idea. They were a little controversial at first, but I think they won over the gamers.

There are many reasons why I think HD Remakes are good. The first being that sometimes people did not get to play a game last generation, for whatever reason. With the remakes you can introduce them to a whole new audience, plus the people that loved the originals. Second is a lot of them comes as collections. You end up getting 3 games for less than the price of a current generation game! To top it off, the game is updated in numerous ways and includes achievements/trophies.

So yes you might be buying a game from last generation, but sometimes double dipping isn't so bad.

I would be very happy if there were a Psychonauts 2. I might even pay for a P1 HD remake...

I'm in the beta now. The game is a mix of Team Fortress and Call of Duty. It's actually a pretty fun game.

Response to: Old, but classic Posted January 26th, 2012 in Video Games

I will play games from any time frame that interest me. Original Xbox games aren't that old but right now is a perfect time to start collecting. They aren't too expensive right now and as the years go on the games are only going to be harder and harder to find. There are a lot of hidden gems on the console too.

Response to: Xbox 720 won't play used games Posted January 26th, 2012 in Video Games

Don't believe everything you read. There are still ways to get a lot of money out of used games. People will buy second hand games but still purchase and Xbox LIVE membership, map packs, weapons, etc. There are also incentives of getting the game new like beta codes, extra content, and all that jazz.

I do personally believe that we might see the first console with day and date digital releases though. If it were to be any console, it would be the next Xbox.

That's ok though, it's not like the awards have ever been really big here.

It is a lot more complicated then that. You would either have to read up on the story via a wiki, watch a lets walkthrough for the game plus DLC or just play the game.

New Features Commentary: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/new-fe atures-alan-wake/725101

I know there are very few people that care about this franchise on this site, but I have been a supporter of Alan Wake since early '06 and the following has grown a lot since then. The trail went kind of cold when the PC version was canned and it was released only on Xbox 360 in 2010. Since then over a 1.5 million copies of Alan Wake has been sold, over a million torrented, Alan Wake is coming to PC and a new game is on the way. So it seems that there is a lot of hope for this series. I will be making an official thread for the new game in due time once we get some more info.

I'm not a fan of motion controls at all but I don't mind them existing. As long as game companies continue to make the traditional games I love then I am ok. I do have a bit of a problem when the "traditional" games are given up for motion control games though. There is no reason why the two can co-exist and just because a game has motion controls doesn't mean it's a terrible game either. Dance Central, among others, is honestly a lot of fun.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/329 818/alan-wakes-american-nightmare-first-
details/?cid=OTC-RSS&attr=CVG-General-RS S

Alan Wake might be the talk of the town but little is known about his re-emergence on Xbox Live Arcade. Fortunately, Xbox World magazine has delivered a sprawling eight-page feature chalk-full of details on the flannel-clad writer's newest nightmare.

According to the mag, Alan Wake's American Nightmare draws thematic and narrative inspiration from pulp action-adventures such as From Dusk 'Til Dawn and other Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez material.
The XBLA follow-up is a return to Alan Wake's open-world roots, featuring a hub structure which will see players returning to locations multiple times during the story. The game is described as "significantly bigger than any episode of the original game."

American Nightmare takes place two years after the events of the original game. Since saving Alice, his perpetually in danger other half, and confining himself to the 'Dark Place' beneath Cauldron Lake Alan has become an urban-legend.

In his absence fans of the writer have re-imagined him as a Candyman of sorts, the legend goes that Alan vanished into the woods of Bright Falls and returned as Mr Scratch, a maniacal serial killer.

Like all good urban myths uttering Mr Scratch's name a few too many times is rumored to summon him, and since things have a way of mysteriously coming true in Alan's world, the evil doppleganger has manifested and is on his way to finish Alice off, leaving a trail of bodies and video evidence of his murderous activities for Alan to find.

During the game players will learn what became of Alice, as well as Alan's agent Barry, after the events of the first game through new manuscript pages, TVs and radios, Xbox World reveals.

Although it still relies on the same combat mechanics as the original game, enemies now respond to Alan's light-based attacks in different ways that force him to switch up his tactics. A new crossbow weapon which can pierce through the darkness protecting enemies has been introduced, along with and Uzis, military-grade rifles and a nailgun, which Alan can use to overwhelm his foes.

For the full eight-page feature on Alan Wake's American Nightmare pick up Xbox World magazine issue 113, which also includes an exclusive look at Rainbow Six Patriots.

I'll give you it is a bit weird. Not that big of a Mario fan myself actually. You don't like Ubisoft? I enjoy their Rayman and Beyond Good & Evil games. Assassin's Creed is cool as well but it's not my cup of tea.

I should clarify that I like the real Rayman games, not the spin off games.

Has Just Dance really sold enough copies to convince Nintendo that their mascto needs appear in a crappy third party motion controled dance game?

I do recommend watching the Smurf video below the Mario one too. It's hilarious.

I don't think it is that big of a deal. Just Dance my be a 'casual' game but it isn't a bad game. It's not what you or I may enjoy playing regularly but casual =/= bad game. I don't see this hindering any of the regular Mario games at all so more power to them as long as they keep it real.

Well actually the game was canceled. Kojima Productions got decently far into development and didn't know where exactly to take the game so they were just going to trash the idea. Platinum got word of this and wanted to pick up development. They went in, changed the story and are taking the game out of the Solid series.

Miyamoto is 'Retiring' Posted December 7th, 2011 in Video Games

Well, sort off...

"REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The creator of Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda will step down from his current position at Nintendo but remain with the company to work on smaller, more personal projects, Wired.com has learned.

In an exclusive interview with Wired.com on Wednesday, the 59-year-old head of Nintendo's game design department said that he will move away from supervising the development of massive games like this year's Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Super Mario 3D Land, passing the torch to the younger designers in the company and working on projects that won't take as long to complete.

"Inside our office, I've been recently declaring, 'I'm going to retire, I'm going to retire,'" Miyamoto said through his interpreter. "I'm not saying that I'm going to retire from game development altogether. What I mean by retiring is, retiring from my current position."

"What I really want to do is be in the forefront of game development once again myself," Miyamoto said. "Probably working on a smaller project with even younger developers. Or I might be interested in making something that I can make myself, by myself. Something really small."

Miyamoto said that he's hoping to start work on a project in 2012, and hopefully show the game off publicly within the year.

"In other words, I'm not intending to start from things that require a five-year development time," he said."

3-5 is short in general. And the point of a portable handheld is, well, to be portable. Don't get me wrong the games they have lined up for it looks pretty awesome. The Uncharted game and Gravity Daze have my personal interest. I think they're trying so hard to not repeat the missteps they did with the PS3 they're going a bit too extreme.

At 12/7/11 03:48 PM, TheKlown wrote: Why are those idiots at Sony releasing the Vita in February in America?

You do realize they have to manufacture and produce games right? Things like that take time and rarely are things in the video game world released simultaneously world wide. Sony is a Japanese company and while they will not hit this holiday in the U.S., they will be available for the next holiday with a stronger line up.

The Vita is a cool idea and I was a bit intrigued at first but the appeal has been lost for me. The short battery life, mandatory memory cards that you buy separately for high prices and one account per system just didn't do it for me. I think I'll wait until the system's life is over or when they release a newer/cheaper model to collect it.
