Am I correct in thinking it was in the article 'What we found down the back of the internet'?

The Metro is really behind the times when it comes to the internet. I could swear I read an article about Scientology and the protests last week.

I don't know why you're taking all this shit personally. Deep down you know that directors only cast a negro in their movie is so they get more viewers. It's just the right way to do things. The white way if you will.

The best film that encapsulates this is Glory. Such a moving film. All the way through the movie you see Ferris Bueller pretend that his army of chocolate men are growing on him. You start to get attached especially to that feisty motherfucker Denzel, he's a crazy coon in that movie. He tugs at your heart strings, especially when he gets whipped. I almost shed a tear at that point. The movie makes you think. That is until you see Ferris' alterior motive. He's thinking, "Shit man, I got all these crazy spear chuckers here, they can't do jack shit. If it's the end of me, I'll rid the Federal army of these clowns." He marches those bad boys right into the guns and they all died. Brilliant.

Fair play to him. Ferris did that shit and Cameron and little Miss Peterson were glad for it.

PS. In Glory, there's a guy called Sharts. What do you think of when you shart? A brown stain on your boxers you wish you'd never seen, just like a black man.

You seem to be confused here.

It, is the story of the killer clown. The movie you're reffering to is The Thing. Which is a fucking amazing film and one of my favourites.

I have to agree, it absolutely sucks to be reading more than 2 books at a time. I can handle 2 if only because of having to do it for school, where I might have to be reading 2 at a time.

I have never done that in my life if I'm honest. Even at school.

Tack on to that A Game of Thrones, which at times is actually better than LoTR, though its clearly a different book all together.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you wanting to read AGoT or are you reading it at the moment, although sporadicly with other books?

I just finished my first re-read of AGoT a few days ago and I'm moving on with A Clash of Kings again. If you think AGoT is good, wait till you get to ACoK and further into the series, there'll be times you'll feel like putting the book down because it's that fucking good, I kid you not.

My personal opinion now is that, in general, short stories tend to be more to my liking than anything else. I've been picking up anthologies lately and I highly recommend these stories/authors:

I'll check a few of them out, it could be a while though I've been sternly told to read Ender's Game and some of the Discworld books. Which I will do after my re-read of ACoK and the first of the Malazan Empire books.

I also borrowed a couple of books by John Grisham off my parents, crime/law fiction, and I thought they were really good. I think the ones I read were... the Partner and... the Chamber. I should also read more of his books. I should read more. I've got a few books that I've got that I want to read, but I've already got plenty of other books started and as of yet unfinished, and I really want to trim that number down and actually finish more books. Anyway, I've got Mary Shelley's Frankenstein to read, as well as Orson Scott Card's Ender's game and Raymond E Feist's Magician. I've got Terry Pratchett's Carpe Jugulum barely started, along with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I haven't yet got the Lord of the Rings books just yet or Frank Herbert's Dune, but I intend on getting my hands on them and reading them some time in the future. There are more, lots more, but I'll leave it at that for the time being.

You're reading far to many books at the same time man. Pick one up and stick with it until the end and then move on to another. I find reading more than one book at a time detracts from them all and that is never good. You must not really be enjoying any of them if I'm honest, if you can simply put one down after a few chapters and start another book.

I also find it distressing that for such an avid reader you haven't read two of the stanchions of modern fantasy and sci-fi, in LotR and Dune. Put everything you're reading down now and get these books. You'll be glad for it.

Finally another decent book thread. Huzzah!

I heartilly recommend these.

George R R Martins, A Song of Ice and Fire Saga. Medieval fantasy I suppose, but there's not much fantasy at all. It has everything, backstabbery, murder, incest and pretty much everything I can think of. Currently five books and the sixth is on it's way (been like that for two and a half years *sigh*). You'll be suprised at how attached to the characters you get and you'll genuinly feel sorrow when they die, and they will die.

Anthony Durhams - Acacia. Is another fantasy novel that is splendidly written and an absolutely fucking fantastic read. Along the same lines of ASoIaF (above) but there's more fantasy elements involved. Currently waiting on books two and three to be released.

Patrick Rothfuss' - The Name of the Wind - The Kingkiller Chronicles. There's nothing to say about this book that hasn't already been said. Rothfuss' first novel and it reached the bestsellers list instantly. This book is interesting in the way it's told. The main character Kvothe is a lowly bartender trying to live out his life in secrecy and is doing it well until a chronicler appears at his bar, asking about his past. It's through Kvothes eyes you see this book and indeed his past adventures leading up to why he's living in secrecy in a shitty town.

All epic fantasy novels and if you like the genre and you haven't read them, get them. Get them now, because you'll never read any better fantasy saga's than this.

I might post some Sci-Fi novels later, if I'm bored enough.

I read Haunted a few years back when I was flying over to Spain for a holiday, I just couldn't put it down. I think my favourite story was the one about the Millionair/ess that was looking for a new fetish so she dressed as a tramp and walked to streets to get beaten up and whatnot. I can't remember the exact details but I always thought that idea was awesome.

Off topic question for you. I may have asked ages ago. Is your screen name based on the Shrike from the Endymion series of books by Dan Simmons or is it based on the Greek Prince of olde?

I donate more than I can afford sometimes.

I've bought shit from site stores, not Newgrounds however, I guess because I got a hat, t-shirt and stickers for nothing a few years back I never really thought about it. Spent money at SA.com and Soccermanager.com. I also do charity work for Help for Heroes and the Red Cross.

I always put money in tins in the city center for a noble cause, but not a lot. There's this bagpipe band that's in Glasgow city center that do rock music and they're fucking amazing. I always put a tenner or so in their case. I also buy CD's from those bands that haven't made it 'big' (I guess) from shady bars and clubs on a night out too.

I think I can vouch for this. Many moons ago I got modded, God knows why, but it was fun for about 2 months. I guess I was an arsehole all of the time but it became more pronounced when I was shoved into the limelight with the rest of the 'big people'. We didn't have your fancy new yellow aura or anything, shit we didn't even have the destroy function back then, but it didn't stop me becoming a cunt. Pushing the limit of what I could get away with because of what I was, then I got lazy and got buttfucked by someone who I thought was a pal.

Also, you can really tell who you're friends are after you get shot down from such a high position.

Whether it be real or not I'd love to see the battle of Troy as portrayed in Homers Iliad, not the movie starring Brad Pitt.

There's a few books in which something similar happens and it just made the thing seem more real to me. Ilium and Olympos - Dan Simmons, does this really well, but it gets a bit far fetched at the end of the book, with several timelines clashing and just making a mess of things with Hector making a pact with Achilles and they go off killing greek Gods while spaceships and whatnot kill everything else.

It's in Candleriggs, just off the main road. I'm sure it's on Google maps and it's next door to a notorious gay bar if you're into that sort of thing. Lolfag.

It's really worth bumping into a faggot with pink tights on like I did to have some seriously good food.

They even have crazy birthday parties, where all the lights in the restaurant go off and this loud speaker starts reciting all this crazy Mongolian gibberish, you hear swords being drawn and fighting, then people start to rush about brushing into you, then the lights go on and there's people standing by your table with a birthday cake. It's pretty cool.

I went to a restaurant recently called Khublai Khans. I believe they only have them opened in Glasgow and Edinburgh, anyway they had the most exotic of meats I've ever seen in Glasgow. I'm no real connoisseur of all things meaty, but I do love eating it.

This place had everything I had ever imagined I wanted to eat, shark, zebra, springbok, elk, crocodile, squid, wild boar and ostrich, plus all your other mundane sort of meats. The Mongolian feast, which is what I had cost around £20 quid and it allows you as many visits to the 'buffet' as you like. I think I tried everything at least once, my favourite being the zebra and boar.

I strongly urge you guys to visit it if you're ever in one of these cities.

My mouth is watering just thinking about that zebra steak, fuck!

Edited text I know, but I'm curious as to what this 'crew' would actually discuss pertaining to things like CCTV. These cameras I have a severe dislike for.

Apparently there's a camera in Britain for every 100 or so people living here, that could be a major misconception or it could be worse according to certain sources.

I live in a not so quiet street, but it's by no means the worst. Every month through the letter box we get a newsletter addressing the crime in the surrounding areas. It gives you such things as incidents when the police, fire brigade, ambulance service had to be called to a scene which in some cases over the last few years (In my personal view, I know certain things) have saved lives. Which is all well and good.

But the worst thing about these news letters is the fact that they give out phone numbers to call if you think something or someone should have the cameras eye on them. Now, is this not a breach of civil liberties if a camera/s can follow you for several miles because someone had a idea/hunch/severe dislike for you? True, sometimes such a hunch will lead to the arrest of a dangerous individual, but as some reports admit, only one case in one thousand actually leads to a prosecution or even the police getting involved.

I for one hate the idea that everything I do can be watched by others. Outside the sanctuary of my own castle I can be pinpointed and followed from when I leave to go to work and back again. This apparently is for my own safety.

In my opinion this just cannot stand.

(This rant is brought to you from apparently, Europes 'murder capital', Glasgow).

If this is not the subject the club/crew was intended for please ask for my post to be deleted. I will not hold it against you.
