Another teaser will prolly come, and show the platform aspects of it all. Which Im pretty sure is there to a very very huge extent. My guess is that Rare wanted to show off their inventions in this vid ...

.. im actually willing to bet 100$ (I stole from your mom) this will be good :)

I'll just go all serious for a second and say:

STARFOX ADVENTURES was the BEST FUCKING GAME on the Gamecube.

Yeah well, maybe it had to fight with a few other titles, but that game was pretty much sweet. It was for the GC what Banjo Kazooie was for the N64 in platforming. Geniously nice. And the graphics where "crazy" as well ... for the GC that is.

Things I laugh at in this thread:

1: It will suck if its not named Banjo Threeie
2: It will suck if its not a remake of the original
3: It will suck if it does anything new

Jesus christ you people are narrow-minded.
Have a little faith in the people who gave birth to and love the franchise more than you'll ever do.

Let's quote IGN after their visit at their studios getting a presentation:

"At the end of the day, it was easy to read the smiling faces of the other visitors: This is the game that we've been waiting for Rare to deliver since being bought by Microsoft."

... no ... could it be .... fun?

What the fuck are you idiots complaining about?

Why is the fact that you are collecting nuts, bolts, parts, and weapons - instead of feathers or stars - bad? Instead of strictly using your plattforming collectables to open new areas, you actually have to tinker around to achieve the last objective to get to your goal. Rare has always been AWESOME when it comes to puzzles, so yes - I believe they can manage to do the same all over again. You have to collect things to build? Well ok ... sounds like fun and variation.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THAT?

I loved Banjo Kazooie - played through it several times. I loved Banjo Tooie ... played through it once. And I am SURE this little innovative platforming-detail Rare got going on here only will add to the gameplay.

Sounds like a latency problem.
If you push a key and the actual sounds comes later instead of the instant you push down your key, it's easily fixed if you're lucky.

Just change the buffer length in options -> audio settings, and fiddle around with the settings until your playing and the actual sound happens at the same time. If you have the gear, there's a button in there called "Show ASIO Panel" which in my case takes me to the Edirol UA-4FX Driver Settings where I can adjust buffer size, midi-in light load and direct monitoring. I have it at 9ms, and it works like a charm no matter what I throw at it.

So try that!
(if that wasnt your problem, you can burn in the blazing depyhs of hell for making me say all this=)

So she has my vote anyday ...

(I have noticed 70% of the music in here is re-arranged midi)

I know my knowledge of what is good music and bad music is top notch (everybody has that ability), and I've got to say the ratings in the AP dont tell the truth at all. All the really great songs I've found, where you can hear real talent between the instruments - have really bad scores and dont show up on any charts at all.

I KNOW this is because jaleous really ass bad artists get tired of being out-ranked by the really good ones, and does some serious zero-bombing and what not. This is why the AP should have a staff with "pro-reviewers" that award the really good submissions, and ignores the incredible amount of (face it) pure shit thats in here. That way it would be possible to find the good artists and the great tracks without going through all these forgettable score-boosting really bad songs :)

The only really good artist I see doing good in the AP (score and reputation-wise) is ParagonX9.

And my morning-cigarette rant is over :p

Awards and all the stuff that FP has would be nice ofcourse, but I dont really care.

But what I WOULD like to see is a collab-option for music-authors. Thats something the AP needs.

I just registered here, and two days later I was Best of the Week, then "Best Track Ever" the following week, and #1 in the entire portal for a while. I didnt do anything. So I got 450 reviews out of the blue in just a few days ... and I got to say that was a nice "welcome to AP man". I like it here. It's dropped from 4.67 to 4.47 or something now. Guess someone didnt like it being up there :p

But making a hit song ... I dont know. Just make something you absolutely love yourself, chances are someone else agrees with you. I dont really care. .. making music is just fun!

It was Forever Gamer btw.

The audio advertisement thread is indeed utterly worthless. People dont even read the previous posts, they just post links and move on. So I dont even bother advertising anything. I just let people find my music by chance. Works like a charm...

Topic: Instruments done by computer

Posted: 05/05/08 07:21 PM

Forum: Audio

The only difference between real recorded instruments and digital ones, are the dynamics. Electronic music only sounds digital because the authors are too lazy to equalize every single note and shift them slighty off-beat to get that live improvised feeling - OR because they want it to sound electronic. Or it might be that they just lack the musical knowledge to make things sound good.

It is possible to make a country-song sound live and natural using digital instruments only, but it takes a LOT of effort when it comes to instrument-placement in a room, volume-levels, instrumental flaws and tempo-misses. But it IS possible ... it's just too much work.

Listen to Jean Michel Jarre.
That is one man who manages to make electronic music feel alive.

Hrmm... I always thought it sounded like a nintendo or sega game.

Might be, just that the phone-sounds gave me some flashbacks from the office-sequences from Sam & Max. But I dont know for sure at all, its just a wild wild guess.
