Here it is, was going for the 'laboratory in a tube' idea. Think it'll work?

It's not gonna be anywhere near as detailed as the piece itself, so it shouldn't detract the eye away from it too much hopefully.

What type of creature is this? would it survive in open air, the water... what? I would place this creature in that environment to showcase it. the whole test tube experiment is, for the lack of a better word, uninspiring. Like if it was a sea dweller, have it trolling the waters looking for food or a helpless victim to kill. If it were a Landwalker or airbreather have it do something similar, or have it hiding just out of site of something that it was about to attack. You can still have a lot of stuff going on and the main focus still be your creature.

It's because Luis is a huge rock star, that's why.

Both of them are okay, work on your anatomy and practice more and you will get better.

Can you see how the addition of the fill on the top half makes the picture more balanced? I almost thought it was a little over done, but once you stand back and get a good look at it, it works out for the better. Nice job. Look forward to newer pieces.

That comic is pretty good. Why aren't the first few paged colored? It's not super original (the story line) but it is good. I will revisit later to see if there are any updates.

yeah i wasnt sure what to put there :(

Yeah the face really kills this piece. If you did that in flash change it. try a more simple approach, dont make the mouth so big, then enlarge the eyes a little. I would also put something in the background above him to balance the heavy blackness of the bottom half.

post a pic of how crappy you draw hands and then people can help you. other than that dont be surprised when this thread gets locked. anyway go here , scroll part of the way down to the anatomy section. there are 2 tutorials on hands. hope it helps.

P.S. you might want to read the rules too.

I am the person who did this image and actually the only thing I posterized was the background; the body/face I actually went in and did all the coloring on my own. But I could have just posterized it for close to the same results. Either way I thought it looked cool, like that movie A Scanner Darkly.

that was the first thing that i thought of when i saw your piece. i loved that movie for the art style that it enovated. i love your piece too. it looks awesome. i just know that this was what noobivore was probably trying to accomplish when he/she did his/her piece. i hope i didnt offend you.

anyways i suppose i should put up a link that helped me learn this style
http://psdtuts.com/drawing/create-a-comp lete-vexel-image-using-photoshop/

i read through that and all i have to say is you have to be one bored mofo to go through all that garbage. You are basically just tracing a posterized image. Cut through the red tape and just use the original image as a reference and just redraw, by hand or digitally, the image. i would be more inclined to learn to digitally paint this image than to just postize it and retrace each part. but i guess if you had fun doing then you get out of it what you wanted. me personally i wouldnt have.

Response to: my ultimate poster Posted August 6th, 2008 in Art

Looks good, but you will want to be very careful when you go to put color to it. It will look really horrible if you don't go into this with a solid plan. You may end up making it look jumbled or tossed together. It will be interesting to see if it turns out though.
