This one is my favorite so far. Totally digging the design. I would wear that shirt for sure. Your work is really nice. I like most of it. It is really clean and professional looking.

Response to: Snizz's art thread Posted March 29th, 2008 in Art

did you draw the background? looks like you took someones awesome background and layered a simply done, not so great face and initial onto of it.

Response to: Art/Tattoo design Posted March 29th, 2008 in Art

looks like an older version of the white wolf company. i would suggest you seriosly think about wether you really want this on your body forever. if you do i would go through and redesign to add more detail and make it look more bad ass, than it is at this point.

I like the etching. Color choice was good too. Was this a project that you can do again in different colors?

Response to: strange... Posted March 18th, 2008 in Art

i like it, very odd. got anymore?

Response to: Color in photoshop Posted March 18th, 2008 in Art

its a good start, but i would have to agree with kernalphage, the shading needs to be more uniform.

if you want the practice take the same pic an recolor it. pick a corner and draw a line from that corner into the center of the pic. that is going to be your reference point for your light source. color and shade form there and show us what it turns out like.

this last pic shows some great detail but the female looks like she is missing part of her leg.

Response to: Building MindChamber Posted March 14th, 2008 in Art

once you get your mindchamber done you should bust up the unicron pretty good and take a pic of your mindchamber rummaging through him for parts.

Response to: What do you think... Posted March 14th, 2008 in Art

its a nice start to build on. seeing that it appears to be on a computer i think you should resize either the desk or the person and add some background stuff.

Response to: Building MindChamber Posted March 14th, 2008 in Art

did you tell the person that you were going to take it apart?

Response to: CornMan's art thread Posted March 13th, 2008 in Art

I like your work, it is very imaginative. I like the soft colors on your pieces too and you black an dwhites are very clean.

Response to: Building MindChamber Posted March 13th, 2008 in Art

looks like it's really coming together. how tall is it right now around the 7 to 8 inch range or bigger?

Response to: Heavy Metal discussion thread Posted March 12th, 2008 in Art

i was apprehensive about tracing a reference photo for my cover to begin with. i actually looked through the art i had already created to use but couldnt find what i was looking for. i almost used my surreal piece i did for design class but it was black and white so i nixed the idea. it was a learning experience none the less.

Response to: vonDark's art thread Posted March 12th, 2008 in Art

This is some wicked wicked art. I love your use of colors and your watercolor skills are phenomenal.

Response to: I need someones help. Posted March 12th, 2008 in Art

I dont think you are supposed to make a thread just ofr a request. plus you have no general idea stating how you want it to look or even a rough sketch.

Response to: Heavy Metal discussion thread Posted March 12th, 2008 in Art

Thats why i made an entry to begin with, i thought it would be fun, snd it is something i hadnt done before(the gidital painting). im a more traditional artists myself. i am willing to bet my cover would have turned out 1000 times better if i had just hand drawn and colored it and then just scanned it into my pc.

In the end, it all comes down to a matter of conscience. Each one has a limit. Right now I'm pretty sure I can't do a sakerfalcon, but I tried my best and I feel like I went beyong my former limit. I'm proud of it. Next time I'll try and do an even better piece.
Most people enter this contests because of prizes and glory, but in the end, as we never win, it's all about the chalenge!

SirSeraphdeFallen, I'm sorry I mentioned your pic. It's just that when I looked at it, it really looked like just a photoshop filtered girl. But if you say you spent time on it and actually tried, I believe you and I apologize.

There is no need for an apology. I can see where you would make that assuption, compared to the rest of the submissions it does look photoshopped. i would just like to find some tutorials that actually teach you how to digital paint. I appreciate Pox putting up the one they did, but still it isnt even that helpful. watching the speed painting videos are no help either. most of the tutorials i found have 6 pages of reading material and 3 to 5 reference photos and thats it. when i see a tutorial i want to see some detailed step by step action, not 5 steps paraphrased into 1 step without reference photos.

Talking about this one, I assume!
...maybe that one...
Hahaha... yeah..

If a traced one wins I won't be happy.. puts all us artists to shame ¬_¬

In my defense my cover is not just a filtered photoshoped image. i think what throws it off was the fact that i pasted a bearskin rug that was posterized under my female. i did spend 5 to 10 hours painting that female, even though it doesn't look like it. the only other filter on my image is the render cloud in the heavy metal logo.

i have never digital painted before. this was my first attempt to do so. i tried to follow pox's tutorial but it seemed a bit vague. if you enlarge my cover you can still see where there are some outlines left in the image because i didnt know how to make a contrast between some of the body parts to make it look like it would have if i had just traditionally drawn the image.

i am sorry that my digital skills are not as up to par as the rest of yours but at least i can say i tried, even though it appears that i have failed miserably. my cover does stand out horribly compared to the rest of them, but i never expected to even get an honorable mention to begin with, al i wanted to do was to see if i could paint in photoshop.

I was browsing through the finished covers and i would hate to have to judge this thing. there are a lot of awesome pieces. It is kinda odd though, you can go through and make several different categories that the covers could fit into.

Had a question there are several users with multiple submissions, will they be able to win more than once? Can't wait to see who the winner is.

My favorites:

thirteen spades - mist woman << i like this one the best.

the rest are in no discernable order

Jagondudo - airborne goddess
Deadspead83 - birdwoman
Nobbin - Robin - zombies
transforwhores - rose fairie
JohanL - pink lady
Kassar - digital
LiftYourSkinnyFists - rocket launchers and titties
DooDooMeat - blood guts and boobs
stickamovie - tan woman

Good luck to everyone who submitted so far.. i'm sure there will be some stragglers.

Not bad but I would delete some of the negative space and put a black border around the image.

Response to: Flash Style Posted March 10th, 2008 in Art

Master Chief is pretty sweet. The hand drawing the sird on the other one is kinda odd.

Response to: Art Contest: Heavy Metal mag cover Posted March 10th, 2008 in Art

Here is my cover. I was a little pressed for time at the end. This is also my first attempt at digital painting and i'm not to happy with how it turned out. Fpr a first time i guess it is okay. All the covers turned out badass Btw.

Damn that is pretty sweet. Can't wait to see the finished product. Will he be sporting a Newgrounds flag to take into battle? what are you thinking as a color scheme?
