=) That insult is related to the issue. Nice.

I'm sure that's the way to go about things. =) Hey all, let's just wait untill they do kill innocent people, then we will worry about it.
I feel comforted now, and will no longer worry about before mentioned gun control issues. Thank you.

The general consensus among liberals consists of "OMG liek we needz to make da gunz illegal cuz they killz people, change the constitution! do it now or elzz Bush will destroy us all wit his redneck gun policeez!!!"
The liberal view on things does tend to be centered around controlling what people do. I've never been fond of their stance on censorship. But the conservative side, I'm willing to bet, can sound just as crazy. I don't think I'd like to side with either on the issue.
My concern is not with the responsible gun owners, but with those who misuse them. I am not fully educated on what is required to have a permit to carry a concealed weapon, but prehaps we should reconsider what it required inorder to get them? Something to weed out those are likely to abuse firearms.

There are more responsible gun owners than there will ever be kooks. And don't let the kooks tell you otherwise.
I agree. When I was typing my post I wasn't really giving the benefit to the fact that there are many responsible gun owners, but regardless, what do we do with those "kooks"?
In light of recent events, I would like to assert the recent Virginia Tech massacre was done with legally obtained guns. =)
Not all guns used to commit acts like this are bought illegally.
Of course when you let your citizens have guns you must assume they are intelligent enough to keep them out of the reach of children and that they themselves are not idiots.
You must assume they make good judgement and can be rational. (ie not get mad at a friend in an argument and misuse the firearm)
Also you must assume they won't do thinks to IMPAIR the otherwise decent judgement (ie getting drunk and messing around with said firearm)
So we are at a crossroads. Either we take the good with the bad and allow people to carry concealed weapons so that we may defend ourselves should we ever find ourselves in a situation where we can successfully use the weapon in a manner that is for self-defense, and risk the idiots out our country misusing the firearms.
Or we could give up this supposedly constitutional right to carry weapons. It would do nothing to those willing to obtain the weapons illegally, and if you are one of the few willing to defend yourself rationally in the face of danger (robbery, rape, attempted murder, whathave you) you have your right to carry a weapon unfairly taken from you. However, the death toll from idiots messing with guns will be severely cut down.
I, myself, wouldn't be drastically effected by this either way. I never intend to carry a weapon because even if I was given one I don't think, in all realism, I would have what it takes to defend myself. The odds of me every being raped or murdered are slim, slimmer than most I suppose.
But the way I see it, it does not make a difference wether the gun is obtained illegally or legally. It's a gun, and for every time a man protects himself from being mugged, a drunken man is there to shoot a bullet through his foot.
Americans will bitch about whatever we so please, thank you. =)
We rely more heavily upon this form of transportation than you do.
I believe once I lost the remote and it was on some Catholic childrens show. I never reached orgasm because it just felt wrong to jizz in the presence of Jesus. =( Even cartoon Jesus.
I think a majority of couples use some form of protection, and aren't retarded.
Don't quote me on that.
I lived in a cheap apartment in Texas for 5 years of my childhood.
I was probably one of those outspoken racists. =)
People, when being served, take on a assholeish attitude. It is the job of the employee to take this assholeish attitude and love it tenderly for the 5-15 minutes you have to deal with the assholeish customer.
That being said, you could have simply ran over to DQ taken a couple napkins and handed them to him.
Currently, and prehaps till the end of time, the song stuck in my head is...
Original Fire by Audioslave.
Just mentioning it can be dangerous.
Like I stated previously, in my opinion, what's disturbing is his lack of writing ability.

If you define a 'shitty London flat' as a penthouse overlooking the Thames then yes, I suppose they would cost the same. All you're describing though is the typical 'American Dream' bullshit that is spewed into the media every day. It's plainly superficial and untrue. If I was a poor Mexican, even a legal one that spoke good English, all that stuff would be unattainable for me.
Well, some might not get the ideal American Dream 50's-style with a white-picket fence and all that, but I can tell you a Mexican is more likely than not a hell of a lot better off here in America than in Mexico.
I believe, however, the main difference between Americans and the English are the way we insult people. As an American, I will proudly use stereotypes to joke about how you all drink tea, play cricket, and have bad teeth. It's nothing malicious. But you guys take it to far, call us fat, inbred hillbillies.
The way I see it is, we don't call you out for Tony Blair being our dirty little bitch, you shouldn't take such offense to our president being an idiot wannabe cowboy. =) Besides, everyone knows the English always will bitch about other countries problems, instead of their own turmoils. Has there ever been a time in your history when you weren't either forging an empire out of blood or griping about American politics?
They will always say whatever it takes to offend people. It's gotten to the point where I take what they say with as much grain of salt as half the people on this forum.
I don't know if I'm more offended by the fact he killed 30 something people or that he thought he could be a writer. That was utter garbage.

That is what it's for, and that is actually why Texas, a state where almost everyone has guns, has smaller murder rates than other areas such as Washington DC, where all firearms are illegal.
My city has pretty loose gun laws, and we have a very small murder rate.
Yes, but this isn't a robbery or attempted murder. This was a massacre, done by a suicidal man anyway. While concealed weapon laws might have some effect on murder rates, the "school shoot-up" scenario, I don't think, would apply to this.
Personally I believe it wouldn't make a difference if some of those students happen to be carrying guns. And intrestingly enough, I read earlier on this thread, you were discussing how most of the people who do things like this will obtain their guns on the black market. This particular student bought his from a gun shop, not on the black market. So it can help as well as hurt.
When it comes right down to it, it's not the right (or lack thereof) to carry a concealed weapon, or violence in our entertainment that causes these sorts of things.
It's caused from things like bullying, being a social outcast, or in this case, according to various reports, an ex-girlfriend was involved.
I don't think you'll be able to fix things like that. There will always be those who cannot deal with the extremely stressful nature of life in America and other such countries. Fast-paced and demanding school and work lives, a need for an extremely active social life. Some people just can't handle it and snap.
While of course the motives and background will change from case to case, I believe this is the primary cause for a majority of these school shootings.

If the school faculty were allowed to carry guns, the gunman would have been neutralized a lot earlier.
I'm sure if you are carrying a small concealed weapon when you see a suicidal man shooting at everyone with a more advanced weapon than yours you are not going to fire back. You are going to run.

Not really. The stitches weren't very visible, so if you looked closely you only saw two redish slits on it's face. However, we let the hair grow over it's eyes, so people who stopped by would stop asking why our dog wouldn't open it's eyes.

Yes, you may be thinking I want to talk about PETA some crap like that. Nope. I just want to tell you about a little dog I used to have and all the shit the poor thing had to go through.
When I was little me and my grandma had to go to the hospital to check on my grandpa, who was there for treatment for a cancer or which he got from spraying Agent Orange in the Vietnam war.
So while me and my grandma were visiting our sick grandpa, we forgot to put our puppy back in the house. It was a little Shitzu, barely a year old at the time, I think. So it was just tied up in the front yard.
Some kid(s) (I assume kids, because for the life of me I hope it was them and not an adult) sprayed something in my dogs eyes. When we got home and noticed the dog was acting funny and it's eyes looks odd, we took him to the vet. They had to take out his eyes and sew the sockets shut.
14 years later, (a year before his death, and 12 years after his master (my granpas) death) after a stroke had actually left him somewhat disoriented and left his head to lean a little to the left. This blind, poor little dog whom probably just wanted to shit, eat, and live out the rest of his days with a family that loved him was sitting outside the very same house of my grandma when a group of kids came by. The dog, being blind, sometimes barked at things. Most dogs who aren't blind do it to.
The kids must have taken offense to this, because one of them kicked the dog, which actually sent it back about half a foot, from what I saw.
My grandma had run out and yelled at them. Using her 67 years plus of age to yell "you little fucks" at the top of her voice. Never heard the rest because the fat kid of the three flipped her off and they all rode away on their bikes.
So. =) Take good care of your pets kids, or else you'll spend 2 hours of your life chasing down some fat little fuck and his friends, to give them their just desserts. (Not that fat-fuck needed any desserts)
If I'm not mistaken, isn't that swaying a way to prevent the buildings from sustaining damage from the earthquake?
Well anyway, I live in Iowa and I'm pretty sure we are safe from every natural disaster besides tornados and flooding.
And pig rampages?
I believe our compassion and reasoning and logic are what got us to where we (the human race) our today. Back in the times when if you weren't strong, healthy, fit you would die, natural selection was needed.
However, in this modern day we live sheltered lives. Our way of life has changed, so thus natural selection need not play as large a part with us.
The instant gradification generation can't wait untill adulthood to blow your load in a woman as opposed to a tissue? =)
I suppose it's logic versus human nature here. And we all know which one will win.
So, you base your assumptions of the American educational system on our ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY?
There is a flaw to your reasoning.
