I had it for a week and I took it back, the locking nut snapped, the whammy bar collapsed, the volume knob for the neck pickup shorted out, and all the strings were like three or four months old.

Seriously, if you're going to get it, don't even touch it when it shows up. Take it DIRECTLY to a guitar tech and have it professionally set up.

Fucking RG series sucks.

High School for me so far has been all about getting the grades and meeting musicians so I can kick their ass at the instrument they have for so long tried to master and control. But alas, they are nothing but peons compared to the outrageous power and impeccable control I possess.

First off, I don't mean to put off a negative opinion on Garage Band. But perhaps you could try to use Audacity and see if there's any difference just to see if maybe Garage Band is being overly sensitive.

Also, you said you left your cable outside? That is also an extremely high possibility.

What kind of electronic system do you have in the acoustic? If you've got a cheap acoustic, chances are that's reflecting in your recordings.

One last thing, check the levels on the acoustic. Volume, bass, mid, and treble, as any of these being up too high would definitely 'cause the effect your getting.

I just went downstairs and altered my guitar tuner to 432 and it really did give it a slightly warmer sound, all it really does is just barely alters the pitch of the instrument. And when I say barely, I mean only a musical ear could really notice the difference and hear that something different is going on.

If I start to get good effects doing this, I'm just gonna stay at 432 'cause I like it the way it is so far. I bought a Les Paul 'cause it's got nice low-end and now I'm finally taking advantage of it. (:

Seriously, if any of you play guitar. And you have an advanced effects processor or an average, ordinary tuner, go set it to 432 and tune your guitar or whatever accordingly.

Also, this is to Soro: Is there any limit to how low you can go? Like say, 430, 420, even 410?

I don't have a picture of my guitar since I've added all of my mods to it. But here's my Les Paul, Sonny, a few months after I bought it.

Right now though, it's got all kinds of scratches and stuff from shows and what not. I've added a Les Trem, I changed the pickups to DiMarzio and Fernandes, I changed out all the wiring and pots, the tuners are Schaller locking tuners and it's got Strap-Locks now.

I also have a Boss GT-10 effects processor, with two extra control pedals, an Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah, Boss NS-1, and for some reason I have a pedal that controls the on board effects for a Line 6 amp...

I'm in the process of getting an Avatar Speakers 4x12 cabinet and Carvin, Traynor, or Bolt head unit. (Can't decide...)

Right now I'm borrowing a Hughes and Kettner half-stack from a friend of mine and it's an absolute beast.

Alright, I've been playing guitar for 8 years, and in all of those 8 years I've tried every guitar I can get my hands on. PRS, Carvin, Fernandes, ESP (LTD), Gibson, Fender etc.

Personally, I've only owned two guitars, a Kona (Strat-Knock-off) and I currently own a completely custom Epiphone Les Paul, that I use to play anything from rock, classic rock, hip-hop, jazz, blues, heavy metal, etc.

My Les Paul is fitted with a Fernandes humbucking sustainer, a Lace Sensor Emerald in the middle and a DiMarzio EVO2 in the bridge. The EVO2 can be coil tapped for a single pickup sound.

There are still the four stock knobs for volume and tone but they are only wired to the Lace and the DiMarzio and the Fernandes can be turned on and off with a simple two-way switch. I have a Les-Trem which is a tremolo system that doesn't require any drilling or anything it just sits on the standard bridge.

Uh.. What else.. I swear there's something I'm missing.. That might be it.. Yeah, that's all.

The guitar is like, $449 new from Guitar Center and then with all the shit I have on mine it'll cost you around $1,000.

OH!

If you do this, make sure you replace all the potentiometers and wiring, have it done by a professional unless you're experienced with wiring... Also, replace the strings. For you I'd recommend 10-46's, that's what I use.

Hopefully I helped a bit.

I would also recommend looking at PRS, Fender Fat-Strats, Carvin (DC series or CT series), stuff like that.

So the pedal is awesome and all, but today I tried to connect it to my computer and it recognizes it and sees that it's there. But when I tried to set it up on GT-10 Librarian it can't find it. I've tried everything and Google is no help what-so-ever.

I never planned on being a luthier, I was just toying with that idea. It's just going to be a nice hobby, something to do when I'm bored. And if I get offers, I get offers, that's really all.

I actually just planned on doing recording engineering, which I've been reading about over the past.. A long time...

And to whoever told me to work into this luthier idea, that's what I'm going to be doing. I'm going to start with simpler woods and what not, my dad will help me learn the ins and outs of wiring and woodworking and my friends dad has built a few guitars and used to be a guitar tech back in the 80's. So I've got extremely valuable resources I can tap into for help any time I need it throughout the whole learning process.

Believe me guys, I'm not planning on building a this nice on the first try. That's why I set the (hopeful) deadline of April 2012.

Building a guitar is a time consuming process. I'd be honestly surprised if you could finish one, by yourself, in a week. And if you did... I probably wouldn't pay $1,750 for it.

I know full well how long it takes to put together a beautiful guitar that looks and plays well. And being the perfectionist I am, no guitar would leave my hands until it is absolutely, 100 percent perfect.

I don't even plan on starting any of this up until I'm about 19 or 20. I'm going to be putting in a shit ton of practice over the next year or so, so that I'm absolutely positive I can go through with this.

I've been toying around with the idea of putting together custom guitars, cabinets, and I've even gone so far as wanting to teach myself to build amps.
I'll make sure I keep this, or a new thread updated with sketches and actual progress.

If you went into detail about what you want I could start pricing it build it next to mine and possibly Bad-Man's.

As far as paying me goes, I don't know if I could accept that. Or how it would even work out, I'll probably have to set up a website and shit and get a Pay Pal.

This is awhile down the road though. At the moment I have zero experience. None. Nada.

But hopefully by this time or later next year I'll have a few different guitars built up. I'd be more than happy to give those away for free as kits for anyone wanting to try that out. They'd probably be made up of the same materials as an Epiphone Les Paul.

Didn't see this when I wrote that last comment. :P

I know the wood is actually not that bad and I found a few good retailers. I'll be looking around where other luthier's get their supply from and hopefully I'll be alright. So far the wood looks to cost around $300, which is extremely cheap for the wood I'm using.

Most of the money is going into the electronics and hardware I'll be using.

I'll be using DiMarzio's EVO2 in the bridge, a DiMarzio EVO in the neck and I haven't decided on a middle pickup, If I'll even have enough room. lol

So there's about $300-$400 in pick ups alone.
About $50 to $100 for a tail piece.

Schaller locking tuners are like $100

Pots are only like $5 apiece, so that's nothing. Except the push/pull pot that'll be around $20

All the wiring will be cheap stuff... Strings are cheap, truss rod is cheap... Screws and stuff are cheap... So I'm looking at about $1,500 for a guitar built exactly the way I want it. Compared to the $2,100 I got, or even $5,000 I got looking at other guitars.

So all in all it's an EXTREMELY cheap project when you look at it that way.

Well my dad is an electrician and all around hobby man himself and so is my grandpa. So I know I've got all the woodworking tools for getting the basic body shape down. But as far as luthier specific tools go, I've ordered a couple catalogs. One from Stewart-MacDonald and one from Luthier... Something... International. (LMII)

I have no problem what so ever throwing down money to do this since it probably won't be the last guitar I build. Hopefully after I've learned everything from this one I'll be able to start building guitars for other people like Bad-Man. (:

If all goes well, I'll probably never buy a guitar again.

I do know for sure that after this whole project I'll build myself a couple 4x12 guitar cabs loaded with a mix match of Celestion Vintage 30's and Celestion G12H30's, that should be a lot of fun too.

Don't worry guys, I'm going to be putting at least a year of practice in before throwing all of this money and time in. I want to be absolutely confident that I can build this thing before I go through with it.

I've already planned to start with woods I find in the local forests just to get the feeling of wood working. And I'll do this for about three or four months before I buy cheaper woods and practice on those. (I'll have a shit load of bodies and necks lying around...) And then hopefully by winter or spring of 2011 I can start working on this guitar and have it finished by April 2012.

I say April because that'll be my 10th year of playing guitar. And what better way to celebrate a decade than with a guitar you built from scratch with your own two hands. (:

It should be a really cool learning experience and hopefully it'll open a few doors for me in the luthier world and I'll be able to sell a few of my creations to people. (:

I know along the way I'll probably make a Newgrounds guitar, that should be pretty cool. (:
If I could trust users not to keep it I'd probably send it around so all the well known users could sign in but that'd be a terrible idea. lol
