As someone who use to be type 2 diabetic, I know the feeling. Mine has been cured but I have 2 friends with type 1 and I met them through my raw vegan community. No, being a raw vegan will not cure type one, but it does cure type 2. The two of them have theirs controlled really well and take very little in their injections all thanks to their diet.

This worsens the diabetes. If it helps, you can watch these videos of folk who has type one and dealing with it on a high carb raw vegan diet.
It sucks. Yes. No one wants to live off of mostly fruit, but he can still have cooked starches at night like rice and potatoes and pasta and be fine. And no, I'm not saying that eating meat and dairy is evil, but it's to be avoided as he would need a low fat low protein high carb diet.
