If I try to skip back to where it was roughly, it will fail to load and the page has to be refreshed to get back to where the video was, it is a constant annoying problem.

My instant messenger AIM keeps..resetting as well, it will sign out, saying connection lost, and then auto re sign back in. This is also a constant annoying problem.

Once in a while, when we(being my brother and myself) attempt to navigate to a page, it will go to the page, and add at the end of the url "login_access" or something to that effect and bring up the log in page to our new(and the old one when we still had it) router like we attempted to log in and change something. Mind you, for the period this is a problem, which is intermittent itself, no matter the webpage we try to go to, it will bring up that page to log into the router.

These are the things we have done to attempt to remedy the problem.

Replaced the downstairs wired router
Replaced my networking card on my computer
Tried new Ethernet cables
Reinstalled AIM
Futzed with my networking settings on the computer itself

At this point calling comcast would be the next step but I doubt they will help us. There as useful as a sack of dried up potatoes.

Any ideas NG? Seriously, any ideas at all I am at my wits end trying to fix this, and it's just getting more annoying as right now I am bored out of my skull, and can't watch anime becuase of the video player resetting.
Any fucking idea what to do?

My aim was doing that constantly at my old house in addition to just random disconnects from the internet period, and I did end up having to call the cable company. I apologize because it has been literally years--2007ish-- so I cannot remember what they did, but they came out and they fixed it.

Since moving to my new house around 6 months ago, I have the same computer, same modem, same router etc etc and I have had no problems at all with disconnects.

Occasionally I have issues with youtube or other movies not loading correctly and I just check to make sure I've updated everything that I ignore down there at the bottom (flash, java, whatever) and I restart and it's fine.

Also, I use Opera for my browser, and occasionally it doesn't wanna do anything involving media, so I switch to firefox or IE and it's fine again.

I totally understand your frustration in calling the cable company. Ours is worthless too. But it's what we ended up doing. :-(

This also makes me wonder if the games front page should be different. Right now we showcase the latest games, popular games from this week, highest scoring games of the month, highest scoring of the year and highest scoring of all time. Popular games tend to just mirror the front page. Best games of all time feels pretty static (instead maybe it could have a random selection from the top 200). But instead of all of that, I'm wondering if we should return to something like the old site, where we have a per-genre showcase. For example, the first box under "Brand Spankin' New Games" could be "Best New Action Games" and list the latest four action games with scores greater than 3.3 (number is based on some personal observations but not set in stone). The showcase would continue with "Best New Adventure Games", etc. I'm thinking it would better highlight the genre categories and might give people more direct access to stuff they like.

I like the idea of having best of each genre. I think that will attract more first time NGers and keep them around.
As far as the time line, I am a big fan of making any of your displays "best of the month" rather than all time. I feel when we set anything to all time, we see the same games pretty much all the time.
I'm an older NG member,late 20s demographic, so I have a full time job, I get to play games on my weekends usually. Best of the month allows me to make sure I didn't miss anything from any genre.

3) Have you been making use of the feed button (the star next to logout) in the header? It lists new submissions by artists you have favorited, something that was only available via email in the past. We intend to merge all favorites into one list of people you follow, so that you can easily add them from their user page and not have to add them in the context of a piece of content. Our current system (where you favorite artists based on content categories) is really old and has some charm but it feels like overkill nowadays.

I don't check my NG e-mail often, so I feel it's a keeper feature.

4) Have you found yourself doing anything more or less as a result of the new layout?

To be honest, about the same, but to be honest ^2, I think that's a good thing. I'm comfortable with the redesign, it still feels like home, I'm still enjoying the site, I just appreciate all the extras.

I'm a little older than most of you kids. My dad owned a construction company and routinely demolished/rebuilt/renovated chain restaurants and chain supermarkets. Long story short, he ended up with several old arcade games. We had Pac Man and Space Invaders in our living room. No clue what happened to them now that I think about it.

I couldn't color inside the lines in Kindergarten but I had the top score on space invaders goddamnit.

So I think my Companions questline is bugged. I finished the ''Blood Honor'' quest where you have to kill all the witches, and I return to Jorvasskr where Kodlak is dead. However, Vilkas won't give me the next quest. Now this quest takes place in Driftshade Refuge, and I've cleared out that dungeon a while ago when randomly visiting dungeons.
Will the Silverhand just respawn after a while or will I not be able to do the next Companions quest at all? If so, how long does that generally take?

Yeah thats a common bug that happens because you cleared out the Driftshade refuge first and/or still have the quest to find the helm of winterhold still in your log.

There's a few ways to fix it.

It happened to me too, because I still had that quest in my log, not because I'd wiped out the refuge.

I fixed it by reloading to a point BEFORE I killed the witches. Then I finished the winterhold quest without killing anyone (used my console because I knew if I killed anyone in there it'd ruin my companion quest) Then I went back and killed the witches again and everything went fine.

I believe waiting 30 or 32 game days also resets the refuge. Point is, the matter must be resolved before killing the witches.

Also I just got around to playing this game like last month. So I'm late to the party. But I brought punch and pie.

I'll agree with sewers and add just any underground/tunnel levels.

I frickin hate getting lost and usually sewers/underground tunnels are great for that. end up retracing your steps etc.

Like in Fallout 3, I was so damn sick of the subways.

I also hate levels/locations that offer no loot and just involve me killing animals/creatures. I wanna be able to find something not just shoot a few wolves and waste ammo on 120 xp.

Well that's a start. I know they aren't fool proof but I started sleeping way better once we had ours installed.

I live in an area with pretty high crime, so I'm used to places I frequent being robbed. Someone tried to carjack me this summer at the mall. I also get sexually harassed pretty often in public here, which doesn't seem like a big deal, but they follow me to my car etc. asking for my name and number and every once in awhile they touch me which isn't cool .

ditto. But this isn't a first time thing for me. This happens to me monthly and usually it's because I need to update something/restart my computer. I also use opera for my browser and it's really cranky.
