Here is what the weather is like in Brisbane today. We usually record in Celsius here, as opposed to the way Weather
Underground does it, but that is a small detail.
Weather is awesome around here. It never snows, it almost never gets below freezing, and will rarely get particularly hot either. We're no Hawaii, but weather is pretty consistent here.

I rather own a brothel. I figure I have a lower chance of being murdered by my employees that way.
Would you rather drink from a glass cup or a plastic cup?

Well, I hope they at least made a hefty profit when they resold it.
I'm currently reading Eat the Rich by P.J. O'Rourke. It's very funny and informative.
Many fruits and vegetables have protective peels that are also perfectly edible, however the degree to which they are eaten varies widely. What fruits and vegetables do you eat with the peel on and which ones do you prefer to eat with the peel off?

That just sounds evil. Could the procedure have been corrupt and used to get rid of people? Was humanity truly that ignorant? To think that we did such a thing is just terrible, and only about 60 years ago. Your thoughts on this Newgrounds?
Yes and yes. The potential for human evil and ignorance is almost unlimited. The Genocide is Darfur just ended a few years ago and the death toll for that one was easily in the hundreds of thousands. Thousands of people are sold into slavery every day. The amount of awful things that go on in the world on even a weekly basis are almost too numerous to comprehend.
So, the idea that people may have been lobotomized for nefarious purposes seems quite likely. Many people are very ignorant and they were even more ignorant when it came to medicine back then. Also, lobotomies are still performed today in very limited circumstances in the US, Japan, Sweden, India, Australia, and in all likelihood a lot of other countries as well.
I guess we could have a foreign language foreign or two if there were enough mods that spoke the language to moderate it. That is the only variation on this idea that I could think of, which wouldn't be a massive clusterfuck.

That's true, however it would still be cheaper and easier on the eyes to just have a multi monitor setup like this. It would still be unpleasant though, since you would have to turn the monitors at a right angle to get the full effect.
Every so often I have a dream where I'm flying. I hate waking up from this kind of dream, because i tend to get the sinking feeling of falling right before I wake up. Often I will actually have my feet raised up and they drop down quickly to wake me up, so that I actually have a physical reaction to the end of the dream. That first minute when you realized you didn't fall, but were actually dreaming and your body needs to readjust is pretty unpleasant.

Yeah, you're a bit paranoid. As long as it doesn't affect your daily life I guess it's ok, but life is short and you don't want to avoid doing fun and interesting things just because you're afraid of some small chance that something bad might happen. You might want to check the statistics on the things you are trying to protect yourself against to gain some perspective and how likely they actually are to happen to you. If the chances of something happening are really unlikely, say 1 in 100,000 it's probably not particularly worth protecting against.

I'm not proud to say that I have actually done something like this with my mates. We do is less often then we used to though. In additional to absurd high fives we also greet each other in other ways that could possibly lead to bodily injury. I would stop, but it's almost too fun to stop.
Getting NG admins would to restore my account would be easy enough, however the better question would be what I would do with the hijacker. Something he wouldn't soon forget, that's for damn sure!

So I've always had a thing with Apocalyptic Animations on this site. I've always thought of them as part of the same broad category, even though they have major differences. They are some of my favorite animations and I've barely scratched the surface of what exists. Anyway, here are the ones I have enjoyed.
RobsH66 has made some very fine apocalyptic animations related to this with his Fallen Angel Series
SSFSO also made a whole mess of excellent examples of apocalyptic animations:

Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. There are many others I have forgotten. Feel free to recommend your own ones as well.
Why do you think people connect to this kind of story? Do you think the theme is a trend or just an undercurrent that has existed since after WWII?
At 10/23/14 09:48 PM, Monster-64 wrote: As in obnoxious, I mean are your neighbors always noisy, are the mom and family arguing with eachother?
My neighbors are annoying as hell. The, what-seems-to-be a 16 year old girl, is always kicking and screaming at her mom, as if she's having withdrawal from marijuana or whatever. So, yeah, they're always fighting and fighting and fighting, and it seems like the girl is gonna get pregnant in the next year or so out of pure rebellion.
If I think about it, I'll be sure to record it and share it with you guys, assuming that's legal in California.
I also have neighbors 3-4 houses down that jam shitty Mexican salsa.
I had noisy neighbors before, though my current ones aren't too bad. If they get too loud and I need to concentrate I put on some classical music, or earphones, or earplugs, or white noise. You could try to get them to quiet down a bit, but if they're really loud or obnoxious they probably won't care and it might actually get worse. Plus, you're never sure quite who you're dealing with. You don't want to get into some crazy feud with them.
Better to adapt or try to move elsewhere if you have the option. It's not a very satisfying approach, but it is usually the most effective. Also, California recording laws. It's complicated, so try to make sure you're in the clear legally before you do this. Amusing as it might be, it's just not worth getting sued over or possibly worse.
I don't think this film will rise of fall depending on the performance of Jena Malone. It may make it slightly better or slightly worse because of a really strong or weak performance, but its not going to be a deciding factor. I would challenge anyone to give an example of a film where a minor character broke an otherwise good film. .
In any case, this is looking to be more and more one of those ensemble films, so each of the characters should get at least some screen time. If The Avengers is any guide many of the supporting characters should get more screen time then they might otherwise get in a film that doesn't depend so much on its supporting cast. Additionally, most of the named characters are established in acting and have done good and bad films. This is really up to Zach Snyder to use the talent he has available to its best advantage.
Anyway, I rather give her and anyone else involved with the film the benefit of the doubt, at least until the trailers start coming out. There have been so many mediocre films recently that it would really be great if this one turns out to be exceptional, even though we have to wait two years for it
No episode of South Park out titled "Freemium isn't Free" starring Terrence and Phillip along with the Canadian Devil. What did you guys think of it?

I would like to know what metric Forbes used to deterine this, perhaps if thy included potential power in the same boat as actual power.
The last time Murdoch was in the top 10 of the list was in 2009. Here are all the rest of the top 10's from previous years as well. This year Rupert Murdoch is #32.
I'm guessing that at least part of the reason for his drop in rank is that much of the day to day operations of his Media Empire are now done by his family members. Also, he split up his company into two different companies, News Corporation and 21st Century Fox. Each is run by a different son. Both stocks are down for the year. His bid for Time Warner also failed. In addition to that many of the papers he has bought over the years are losing money.
So, even though his net worth remains extremely high he has less actual power of the future of his companies may be in doubt in the long term.

It turns out that hundreds of major companies have been secretly using Luxembourg (a country of 549 680 people) as a tax haven.
Nothing terribly new about this kind of strategy, however Luxembourg is a member of the EU and uses the Euro as currency. Something that can not be said for most countries that have been used as tax havens in the past. More importantly, Luxembourg may have violated European law, which could have far reaching consequences on the small duchy. It will be interested to see what their tax revenue for the years affected turns out to be though.
So, do you think Luxembourg should be punished or not?
