I agree with walterwagner's comments. I enjoyed the poem, but also think the line he mentioned could be improved. In regard to the title, I think you're the only one who should really decide. I tend to leave my poems untitled because I'm a hipster that doesn't think titles are very important, so the only advice I'd really give is to just be content with it remaining untitled. Or you could be like Stephen Crane and simply number your poems as you add them to your collection.
Just sit on it for a while and maybe you'll think of one.
Also, you should consider checking out the thread I made yesterday. I'm hoping to get a thread going where people can post poems and provide feedback to one another. It's all explained in my post, so check it out if you're interested!
"Dead and Grateful"
Because I'm a loser with shitty taste in music.
Hello.
I'm going to write a poem. The next user to post should review it, and then write their own poem. Then the next user will review that user's poem, and write their own. Then, well, you get the idea...
William Wordsworth once said, "Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings." I agree with this sentiment, and will therefore not be imposing any sort of recommended word limit or minimum. For the reviews, however, I think it's fair to ask that they be relatively thoughtful, and should therefore go beyond a couple of basic sentences. "Reviews" can range from general responses to outright criticism, as long as its constructive. If you're seeking feedback on a certain aspect on your writing, feel free to leave some questions at the end of your poem for the next user to consider while they critique it. Hopefully this thread will gain some momentum, and we can all have a nice little place to share some poetry with one another.
Here we go!
Untitled, Bipolar, and Drunk
Soft clouds hovering above a volcano,
Sometimes dormant, still
Sometimes active, violent.
Always crying upward,
Shooting fire into the sky,
Causing red to mix with blue
It's an envelope of emotions,
Constantly at war, yet always peaceful.
Rambling, yelling, crying.
Rinse and repeat until
An apology arises,
Until the volcano calms itself,
And the clouds float on
Just for a moment, unimpeded
By billowing smoke.
Fiery violence, freeing vitriolic
Lifestyles and messiness --
Picture "Fuck you!"
Written in quotes:
Everything, everyone
Expressively literal
Nonsensically insightful.
That's all it is.
I don't know what you're saying,
Or what I'm saying,
But it's clear we're talking about something.
I say we dismantle both companies, throw out all their trademarks, and redistribute their wealth amongst the working class. But that's just me.
One of my old roommates used to trim his hair every single day. It was pretty annoying because he'd take like an hour in the bathroom each morning. That dude taught me the meaning of narcissism.

I'm a teacher. It was just a joke though, so don't worry! I'm actually a pretty big optimist, especially considering the fact that I understand just how terrible America's education system is... all that aside, I do plenty to inspire kids and fill them with knowledge on a daily basis.
I regret most things I do and say. The other day I told a room full of eleventh graders that they could achieve anything in life if they worked hard enough. I'm such a fucking liar.

I've been having these thoughts lately. I'll be finishing up grad school soon, and I'm beginning to wonder if it was entirely necessary. I've already got my career lined up because of it, but I'm starting to think I could've just stuck with my bachelors degree and the student loan debt I already had. I dunno.
Just curious, is your degree not helping you out? I've got a B.A., so I know how it feels.
Also I feel like I've made some bad calls in my day that could have been easily avoided and saved a lot of grief and distress. but they're all learning phases I suppose.
Good way to look at it.

You're awesome, and I'm glad that we're friends now.

Me? I'm right here.
What do you think? bad year for music? a good one? comment.
I think you should just turn off the radio. There's plenty of good music being made today across all genres and styles, but you won't find it unless you look for it. Give up on the mainstream, and listen to what you like. I personally don't really care for the music you listed, but if it works for you that that's all that matters.
Also, there will be a new Wu Tang album dropping this year so there's that.

I've been listening to a band called Hail Seizures lately. They're pretty dope. Here is a song by them that you most likely won't enjoy very much.
Here you go, sir. No shame in needing to educate yourself on how the moon works.

Depends on the person, your relationship with them, the circumstances of their death, etc. One of my best friends committed suicide eight days ago today. I'm still mourning obviously, but I've found that reconnecting with some of our mutual friends has helped a lot. No, we didn't all get together and hold each and cry or some shit -- we simply sat around and talked about how big of a goofball moron our friend was, sharing memories and whatnot. Typical stuff, really. You've seen movies.
I think the bottom line in dealing with death is finding some sort of community to bond with, lest you fall victim to wallowing in sorrow all by your lonesome.
Live your life twice as hard from here on out.
I'm a hippie liberal Marxist that teaches creative writing, and yet my best friend is a hillbilly who loves guns and beer.
If you keep an open mind and live your life with sincerity, you'll learn to quit defining people through generalizations and stereotypes. Every group has its snobs. I used to be one of them but then I learned to chill the fuck out. After I did that, I found myself capable of enjoying almost anybody's company.
I think I might still be a bit of a snob

I know that I'm taking this list out of context a bit, but I agree with you entirely; and I particularly like these three points you've listed. We should all seek pleasure in ways that are not only fulfilling but are beneficial to those around us. We should live our own lives and enjoy ourselves to the fullest extent, but as members of a greater community I believe we should always be keeping others in mind.
For example, somebody who finds pleasure in learning science should consider becoming a member of the scientific community. The point is to develop your interests in ways that better society. Do you love to learn? Become a teacher. Do you love animals? Get into veterinarian care. Etc, etc.
Essentially, I believe in the opposite of this drivel

Buy a bike. Pawn some shit or do some chores to save up and buy a bike, or some other cheap type of transportation. Look around on cl for one of those motor scooters or some shit, and buy that. Be resourceful bro you can do it.

Also, you should consider finding a way to reduce your "high ass phone bill," if it's really that bad. Cancel your plan if you can and buy a burner. Sell some shit you don't need so you can buy things you do, such as food and shelter.

He's a human being that's really good at swimming. There's no real reason why he should be looked up to in regard to his ethics or in relation to some moral high ground. Yeah, he's a great athlete and definitely deserves recognition, but that isn't really related to whether or not he's allowed to make the mistake of drinking and driving. He fucked up and got caught, so now he should pay the same consequences as everyone else. He shouldn't be obliged to apologize to anybody except for those who were put at risk by his decision to drive intoxicated.
The real question is, "What would Brian Boitano do?"
Did anybody else read this story? What would be your reaction if you were suddenly showered in blood while riding a roller coaster?
Also, are any of our English friends familiar with this theme park? I'm genuinely confused as to how "wild animals do manage to stray onto the park during the night," despite there being a "large perimeter fence." I mean, I could understand a racoon or something making it over, but I'm having trouble picturing a deer getting through a reasonably solid fence.

Sometimes these things are enough, but in regard to landing a job in the first place the general rule seems to be how great you look on paper. I know people that are total morons but have completed degrees in competitive fields. They're employed and steadily climbing the ladder.
I still agree with your statement, though. I just think it's an exception, not necessarily the rule.
These lists are shitty. Simply ranking countries by GDP isn't really going to say much. Here is a more comprehensive way to compare international wealth.
Nevertheless, this is a dumb way to start a discussion.

I have the same problem with exercising. My new incentive is that I don't have cable, but that the gym in my apartment complex does. The only show I like watching is Jeopardy! though so I'm only there for like twenty five minutes at a time, depending on whether the final jeopardy topic sounds interesting enough to stay on the treadmill.
Also, I don't blame you for being wary of meds. Depending on where you are in your educational career, Adderall may or may not be a decent option, as long as you stay smart in regard to how you take it.
