Considering the average age of a NG bbs user is probably around 15, you'll have better luck at WebMD.

Ok. Wow. So I think this might be the first International relations thread on the first page...

I'm not sure how many people are concerned about human rights abuses abroad, but I've been reading up on Libya-U.S. relations since WWII because of recent developments in the area.

Apparently, Libya is supporting summary deportations of asylum seekers to their original nation. Mind you that most people seeking asylum in Libya are fleeing human rights abuses from their home country and have Europe in mind as their end destination.

If Libya did not deport their asylum seekers, would the migrant workers be resented as much as Algerians in France? Is there even a parallel?

I'm fishing here... yes, I know.

Read about it here!

The question is: Does one human rights abuse counter another?

Thoughts? Comments?

It's all a huge mystery. Maybe we should consult the hitchhikers guide.

rollseyes: does it even matter?

But seriously, you got it right: be mature, don't be an idiot, post relevant responses, don't spam... blah blah blah. Just be a good person. Imagine if you were an employee (BBS user) wanting a promotion (Modship)... you'd have to act as if you wanted it.

You've got it right, bud.

If you want to pay me $12 mil/year to have a private life, I'd be pretty damn happy. Think of what they offer: entertainment. They don't have a "professional" occupation; they aren't entrepreneurs, inventors, doctors, lawyers, etc.

If they wanted to make a fortune and retain their private life, maybe they should've gone into healthcare or something else.

At 1/10/08 09:23 PM, Proottalfain wrote: I went hard on the subject, but what I want to talk about is girls that are attracted by guys who won't respect them, and most of the time guys that are aggressive/violent. At my age (16) it's not really a thing that makes me mad, but I remember a few years ago (1 or 2) it really pissed me off. EG: You talk with a girl, and she tells you her friend has a crush on some boy. You either look at the boy (if the girl showed you who it is) or just think about him (if she tells you the name) and realize it's a boy you really dislike and seems violent. Tell me about your experiences of such behaviors or thoughts about that.

When I read this topic, I thought it would be insta-fail.

But seriously, respect and beatings are entirely different. It seems that some girls like the "bad boy" figure; one that doesn't conform to mainstream society. That's usually when they're young, trust me, most women grow out of it. The other ones are either related to Britney Spears or can be seen in trailer parks.

At 1/10/08 02:04 AM, AndrewRoss wrote: Here is the actual article; http://internetsafetyadvisor.info/journa l/2007/7/12/stickam-disturbing-in-the-ne ws.html

" I saw young girls, who appeared to be in their bedrooms," and get this, the age requirement is 14 to get on that site, but I've seen 12 year olds on that site.

"A true voyeur's playground." This is true. I signed on one time late at night and I saw all of these girls on. I walked into a room and saw, literally, hundreds of viewrs in the room. She was strip teasing and all of these guys were asking her to show her breasts. I checked her age and she was 16.

"It is being alleged by former Stickam Vice President, Alex Becker, Stickam has close ties to a large online pornography business." Well gee, I think that solves our problem.

"If you are a parent, please visit Stickam yourself, especially if you own a webcam." Yes, you should. I;m no parent, but if I had a child that was internet-savvy, I wouldn't want him OR her to be on that site. Actually, the most I would do is not get a webcame at all.

Discuss.

I think it is disturbing that the children don't realize that once something's on the internet, it's there for good. I mean, if they're on their cam showing their goods, then I guarantee there are ten guys watching and pressing "screenprint screenprint screenprint".

It's sad that some parents don't educate their children on the dangers of the internet sufficiently enough. I mean, I've been using the internet since I was 12 (granted, it was a little different back then), but I had a ton of common sense and over-protective parents.

What happened to going online to talk to people you know IRL? or going to a place where you're interested? I think the start of youtube, blogs, myspace, whatever has made self-interested people flock here to gain any sort of fame. It's a shame, really.

Punchline: That's why kids need to stay in school.
