Topic: EastWest questions?

Posted: 10/03/08 12:24 AM

Forum: Audio

Ya, EastWest is incredible.

I also have the same issue (because i'm so not smart enough yet) and have yet to resolve it. The problem with layering is that you have to create 4 channels of the same program which eats up CPU at an increible rate. I also had the same problem with EZdrummer. Though i could get all the instruments to play at once, there is suppossed to be an option to seperate them into different channels when you export as a midi, though i've been having issues with that.

I'm interested to find out what you learn about the EastWest scenario...

If you have fixed all the problems you can find with hardware and still have static you can edit it out in audacity. You can use noise removal, there are some filters you can also apply to get of low rumbles, but you won't have a 100% clean vocal though, but with some effort and time you can get rid of most of the noise.

Amazing if you ask me. Way better than the majority of the crap I've seen on NG.

I'm going to have to second this one. He has been uploading since 2005, and has no fan base and his songs are decent. And almost never gets reviews.

Ok, so now I'm more confused now than when i first read the rules. I must say that most of my stuff is original, but I have made 2 remixes. Both were different kinds, one was more of a cover and the other was a remix, but still used vocals of the original, though i made significant changes to the song... writing completely new melodies etc.

Am i supposed to take these down? I don't want to get banned for misunderstanding the rules. I tried in all honesty to make original work. So which one should be taken down... or both??????

This has vocals

This is a cover

And i really don't want to whore these songs.... so i'd appreciate it if nobody rated it or anything... i can save whoring for the advertising thread.

Please don't ban me. Just ask me to remove the songs.

Headphones are how i have to do it...

Thank you very much for the suggestion though!
Eh, for headphones I have a pair of Denon DJ HPD-1000's, but I'm not sure if they have a flat reponse curve. I got them because they are durable/look awesome/sound awesome regardless. I also know that Fostex makes some very good headphones (flat reponse, comfortable), less stylish but meh.

FREAKING SWEET! I'm using Grado's right now, but if u promise that top of the line Fostex is better... then $100 isn't much at all to drop on great headphones. - Looks like i'm going shopping soon.

Note: I only sort out things in the first stage. The judges will ram over all entries again and all I gotta say there is that they judge hard!

Some submitters think "OMG liek CONtest! gotata roll in yo! lololol" without thinking one minute serious about it. There's money involved after all so there should be at least a little BIT of quality.

Btw. Draqo, your entry strongly reminds me of Resident Evil a bit there when the choir sets in. :)

lol... i'm happy i just made it past first stage. I'm pretty sure thats about as far as it'll go. YEAH! (pumps fist in air).

Why did the majority of my reviewers say it wasn't madnessy then? I was for sure thinking my songs wouldn't get on the list after those reviews.

Whatever...... YEAH MADE LIST! Now i can die. RIP.

It's the fact that he IS claiming it as his. Right at the top of the page it says

" This section is dedicated to music written and produced by Silas. Below are some of his latest tracks. For more information about the artist, his work or if you have any problems or queries, please contact Silas at: silas@bfclanz.com. Thank you for visiting and please come again."

With my song available for streaming play and download.

I've emailed him 3 times now .. hell i've even scoured his website and found his EVE-online character name which I happen to play too, and tried to talk to him there.

No response from either avenue.

Seriously not cool.

Its not real exposure if he is claiming it is his. And who cares about exposure right... that just would piss anybody off claiming your work to be theirs. Take as much legal action as possible. Um maybe organize a spam fest on his site or something. I think there are some Anonymous Legion around here somewhere?

So i've listened to every submission and these two have really stood out:

Draqo - PJ Mac8
Incredible quality. Great authentic sound, excellent vibe!

Nav - Antarctica
To die for DnB. Just repetative enough to create recognizabilty and not too much to be annoying.

There are a bunch that still rock - but they are kinda similar and on the same level, it'd be hard to judge which of them is the better, but right now... i think those two are awesome!

K. So that is a cool idea. Couple questions regarding this scenario:

1) Could you explain how this is done?
Yes, I could. I'll record a video tutorial nao, and I'll post it up in my newspage. Give me about a half-hour and I'll have it up.

2) How does the CPU feel about this?
For the most part, Reason's synths are very, very low-impact on your CPU, so you will likely not have issues running it (unless the stuttering is from you running 3xOscs, then you might have a larger problem.) Another reason your song may be stuttering is from lack of buffer- you can fix that by going into FL->Tools->Audio Settings and adjusting the buffer there.

I just installed a VST that is killing my CPU, and I can't even play the song in FL studios after a certain point because there is too much going on it stutters like hell... I hope this wouldn't be a problem.

Freaking sweet, you rock!

Well I installed this program that uses at least 300megabytes when i open it in FL. I think i might shy away from ever using it again. Other than that one VST, i dont have problems.

I will be checking out your page later tonight then. I'm excited!!!!

I first started making music with EJAY. Then I moved onto FL 7, then FL 8 producer edition. However I didn't spend much time learning any of the programs I used... I sorta just winged it as I went. I only learnt about automation clips like a couple days ago.... so i'm sure you can imagine how i filtered, etc all my songs so far....lol.

Well, i'm finally to the point where I'd like to REALLY learn a software program to make music. I've used FL 8 for a short while but I've heard oh so many wonderful things about Reason.

So which one do i use?

Pro's, Con's ?

(PS i make music in the Electronica genre)

Ya it works fine... it even works fine in FL when I use an Edison Clip, or something like that. I just can't get live play. - IE in my "in" area i can't select ASIO4ALL. And when I change my settings in Audio to my old sound card, it doesn't give me any options at that point either.
