At 11/13/09 05:02 AM, CronoMan wrote: I think programming requires a different method of abstract thought

that it does, but i would like to suggest that one of the biggest differences between maths and programming is the language itself.
what i mean is that there are tons of notations and terms in both maths and programming that have very distinct meanings. knowing one doesn't mean you know the other.

however, when it comes to the actual "thinking", they're both abstract in different ways, like you say.
I'm personally not very good at either one. when i was younger my abstract thinking was alot better overall, was pretty good at maths at school, and the very little programming i tried out seemed perfectley clear and logic to me. most got lost after school, pretty weird how the brain seemed to just crumble and fade away like that... as i'm in school now i try to pick both things up, but it's a slow process, and im not very good at studying at home.

a friend and old classmate of mine is a programmer since birth (more or less), and very good at maths too. so if the OP made a survey of some sort, he's another exception :=)

dunno if anyone here ever used matlab? that's the playground where maths and programming meet and duke it out. ^____^

this list would be relevant if this forum was about DJ'ing.

its not.

this forum is about music-production. if you wish to share a list, you best do that on your newspost. if you do have something to discuss and can bring that forth in the thread, post a thread in general forum.

oh guise, i rely want a scratcher too. That has to be the synthesizer with a rod attached to the oscillator, and when it plays the rod spins and you put your back against it to get it scratched. that must be what it is, amiriteyuosguise? :3

anyway, i DJ at home, started to do drugs i mean vinyl a few months back. pretty much focus on drum n bass, liquid funk and the like.
i did actually DJ for $ a few weeks back, at a private party where a girl turned 30, but i don't consider myself a commercial DJ like that - hell i don't have nowhere near enough tunes to be able to whore myself out like that... My DJ-name when i do manage to whore myself out is "DJ-Hooker".

BOYyyyYAH!

darn, you should give away flash-licenses instead of tablets, i sure as hell would apply with my tounge covered in sweet and smooth goo for Your pleasure if that'd be the case... :3

if not, it could be a fun way to catch users who submit flashes without having a proper license. BWAHAHAHA.

i made my only submission at school, so IN YOUR FACE, PERSON WHO WAS TRYING TO TURN MY WORDS AGAINST ME :P

staying logged in won't help on NG. you can log in on different browsers, different computers etc.

but yeah, staying alert of the URL and most importantly having really secure emails (INCLUDING extremley secure "password retrieaval" questions. f.e.x. if there are only standard questions like "the name of your first love" make sure it's not your actual real first love, rather something like 83Y47GHhugfe87/(/Y##. Which may be your second or third love, just as long as it's not your first...).

STAY SAFE NGERS.

But what about people's NG account getting hacked? How do you protect yourself that?

like i said, make sure you have a unique e-mail (preferably not yahoo) attached to your account. do not use this email for anything else than your NG account, and of course have different passwords to the email and the NG account.

the above really goes for all things/accounts/profiles on the internet... it's just common sense.

As some might have heard, users on NG (and other sites, but hey, we're all on NG here so we'll talök about what's close to our hearts) have been subjects of phishing scams.
How this is done is most often that you'll get fooled to one way or another enter your email into a malicious site somewhere. The sites may look legit, but it's possible they're just copies of the original sites. Some sites give themselves away with a broken URL, f.ex. if "google.com" would be a subject, it may be spelt slightly different, like "go0gle.com" or something similiar.

Some may not be on the world wide web (www), etc etc.

To protect yourself - not only on Newgrounds - follow these simple instructions:

- Never EVER click links you aren't sure you can trust. If you're on a forum, always doublecheck that the URL really goes to what the link says
- To each account you have on whatever sites, a unique e-mail should be tied - an account you don't use for anything else than that specific site. if possible keep this email a SECRET to anyone. write it down on a piece of paper or whatever.
- Never ever give up your password to anyone. On newgrounds. admins will NEVER EVER ask for your password, nor will moderators. Anyone who DO ask will with high certainty have malicious intents.
- ALWAYS have DIFFERENT passwords to your emails and accounts tied to them.

All in all, the above should really be common sense. In case you haven't taken the above precautions, NOW is the time to do so. Don't be a gullable carrot LEWL!

Pffft, this shit one should be taught as a kid...

OP, you really don't seem to give another impression than you want to pick a fight here. Bans are permanent, and if wade was gonna lift it, it's very much possible he forgot about it - or just didn't know if your stuff was legit or not. he knows a great deal about audio, but obviously not as much as us audiomods who actually live with music every day. from your above description it sounde like you took one or two loops and tossed them together, calling it your own work. I would call that "DUPLO"-work - just buildingblocks tossed together without effort.
i may be wrong, and since the case is many years old, i really dont care either.

point is that if you want to get unbanned, you don't dance in and virtually look for a fight, the way you've acted in this thread is called "flamebaiting" - trying to get other pepole to flame you and/or others, stirring shit up baasically - and it's a bannable offence in itself.

if you have something to add, feel free to PM me. If you do so, i expect that you don't act like you're trying to pick a fight, and i'll reply in an equally respectful manner.

good for you.

in this forum we discuss the creation of audio rather than the appreciation of known music.

you can remake the thread in generalforum if you wish, but i suggest you add more meat to it than "anyone else like this artist". a forum is a place where you're supposed to discuss stuff, not just +1postcount post your way through. there's twitter and facebook for shit like that.
