Greetings fellow Newgrounds Patrons,
I am Renegade_Clock, founder of the Underground Coalition for Foamy's Demise (UCFD). I have come here to tell you all of F-Day, a day dedicated to our dislike of that rascally little rodent, Foamy. Perhaps you had noticed the large amount of anti-Foamy related Flash movies submitted to the portal on Friday. Yes this is all our fault, hehe, oh my. Well I must admit, it wasn't all our doing. A few non-UCFD members decided to jump on the bandwagon at the last minute, and to them I am quite grateful for their improvisation.
So you may be wondering, why would we make such a concerted effort to belittle a ranting bag of grey fur. I could go off listing all of these reasons but I'd rather direct you to the reviews for illwillpress' "Elf Dreams". There, I am sure, you will find plenty of examples of what has brought us to this moment. But to summarize: we think he's a jerk and his Flash is annoying. And so we have decided to make a joke of him. Just as television shows, politics and other tentacles of popular culture are made fun of by Saturday Night Live or MAD Magazine (and I realize the irony of how SNL is hardly ever funny anymore). We are satirists at heart, but with a bit more of an agenda.
Although many of our cartoons displayed acts of violence towards Foamy and a caricature of his creator, Jon Ian Mathers, I want you to know that we do not intend any real harm. In fact, I believe that Mr.Mathers has the capacity to be a successful cartoonist, but has not chosen to fulfill it. When first introduced, Foamy had the potential to be a somewhat unique cartoon entity, but instead of expanding on his possibilities the creator chose to stay in his safe spot. He had found what appeared to be a successful formula for comedy and made a whole batch of it. Now I don't know about you, but I like a little variety. And apparently some of his fans do too. In fact, a good number of our organization's members were previously Foamy fans. Only they became disaffected with Mr.Mather's persistence in using tired methods.
And what were we to accomplish by this act revolt against him? We do realize that we can't stop him from making his cartoons or submitting them to Newgrounds. If our little stunt manages to scare him off so easily then I would have even less respect for him than I do now. What we do hope to accomplish is awareness among the Newgrounds general public. We are in bewilderment as to why you, the Newgrounds users, would give this man 38 Portal Awards for cartoons that are almost indistinguishable from one another. And why do you not see through the hypocrisy of his criticizing people for their lust over Germaine and then turning around and to animate her rubbing her crotch against a chair?
If you like Foamy, that is fine by me. Go ahead and watch his movies. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, as we are ours. But just because we don't like his Flash does not mean we will simply ignore it. This is a democratic system here at Newgrounds and we choose to exercise our right to dissent against those we don't agree with. And I would encourage you all to do the same.
