With the white room, do we have complete creative freedom in what we put in it? I was thinking about having a switch that opens various parts in the room but they aren't big areas that take away from the room effect. If so, my part will have a bit of a twist at the end rather than a 'bloody' ending haha.
Yes that's fine, for example in my scene one of the walls of the room opens up to be a window peering out into space. Just as long as it starts as a white room, that's all. Lots of creative liberties in this collab.

Of course, as long as your part is up to the standard quality in the end, everybody is welcome.
Inspiration/motivation is something a lot of animators have to struggle with. Honestly, I think your art is fine, you don't need to copy that bunny image to prove yourself as an artist. The true test of an animator is the ability to tell a story through his art. Here's what I recommend, practice your animation techniques by animating some of your League of Legends artwork. It seems that LoL is something you can be passionate about, so make some silly things using those characters. I think if you had a theme in mind for somebody to work with you, you may have better luck.
As for voice actors. Use this thread once you have a script layed out with some character information and a picture always helps.
If you really want to make something short and sweet, use this Fourm ( Collaboration Fourm ) to find some projects that peek your interest. The Continue The Story Collab is fresh and in need of more members. If you're looking for something twisted and dark to do you can check out my collab for Halloween.
Just remember to do something that makes you interested and not just do something just to do it. Keep it up man, and if you would like some tips on animation I'm happy to help with questions to any member on this site who is serious about animation.

Keep in mind when the collab was started, It will usually be started at the same time each year. Also follow along in the fourms in case people drop out. I'd personally say make a part, if somebody drops out, you can jump in ( most likely ) worst case scenario you've practiced your fbf animation a bit and made something fun.

ive gotten better at animating so ignore the video on my account
you're welcome to join the collaboration, but bear in mind if your part isn't up to quality standards It will likely not make it into the final piece. I've noticed you have been trying to join every collab. I don't mind giving you a chance, but be sure to give it your all and take time on your part to make it up to par with the other artists in the collab. If your part does not fit the criteria of being horror related it will not be accepted.

Thanks for accepting me. So about gore, how much are we talking here? lol
Terrintino fine, Saw movies too much.
Like I want it to be a horror collab, not a gross out the viewer collab. So if somebodies arm getting cut off, fine. But opening up her stomach and having it all fall out. That's borderline.
Just keep it tasteful, I trust you'll keep artistic integrity.
At 6/4/14 03:58 AM, Mrcoleman wrote: Hmmm.... You know, I might just join this year. I saw last years collab and it looked fun. I can make a script for my part in a week(I want it to be dark and interesting) and start animating. So, am I in?
Awesome! Sounds great man, glad to have you aboard!
My part is already written and planned out from last year. I have the voice acting done already as well. Shock-Dingo Did the voices for my part, and they are pleasantly creepy!

Also the image below is the girl that will be the main character in the room. You can deviate from the design below but I think it'd be a cool effect if it appeared to be the same girl in each part.

I like it a lot! Thanks for the suggestion. Learning how to make edges that aren't sharp may help me in other areas when working on my animations. Thanks again.
No problem bud! I think it made it look great for this collab as well. You picked up the idea quickly.
Welcome toA Girl in a Room II, a Halloween 2014 collaboration.
About:
A Girl in a Room collaboration was started last year and will be continuing the saga this year with a bigger and better collaboration. The theme last year was there is a girl in a room, and she interacts with an egg.
Theme:
Horror/Thriller

A Girl is in a White Room
As a contributor your goal will be to make a short horror animation piece about a girl in a white room. The theme this year will follow science fiction horror movies. The white room is your starting base, throughout your animation the room will likely hint towards your sci-fi setting, so maybe the room is on a distant planet, or space ship of some sort.
Parts will start with the girl waking up, and likely end with her dying or whatever you decide to torture the audience with.

Post here stating your interest in the collaboration, if we have room you'll likely be in! Please have some prior animation experience.
A few people have been asking how to make the brush effect in flash. I whipped up this quick tutorial image for those who were interested in trying it out. Hope this helps some people.

I think it looks amazing! Much more interesting to look at, Great work! But more importantly how do you like it? I feel it works way better and your clean animation on top will allow the eyes to be focused on the animation and not the background.
At 5/31/14 06:41 PM, Mrcoleman wrote: I added another layer of color to fill in the skin. I didn't like how the background was showing through the character like in the preview I posted above.
I have a question. I decided to go with a grayscale approach this year instead of leaving everything blank like last year. So does this take away from the idea of the sketch collab or not?
I was having the same issue with my backgrounds on my part. My simple solution was to create a masked layer after finishing the scene. It's how I got the effect that I did in my first few previews and I feel it creates a polished look.
What I'd like to see you try, since I know you've got the artistic talent, try to make the backgrounds appear water colored, or painted. Give them some gruff to the edges and add some brush-like strokes throughout. I think it'll give a nice texture to your background and compliment your animation well.
As far as taking away from the idea of the sketch collab, I don't think so, I would however think it'd be cool if you were to blend the texture over your final piece in the end. ( would help sell the water color too )

Right I forgot to compress my part before sending it over, I normally copy+paste everything into a movieclip so it's nice and easy for you to move around. If you'd like I can do that for yah unless you've got it covered.
My part is all finished up, sending it over to TheMAM right now. It was fun working on this collab again this year. I'll try to stick around if anybody wants some help on their parts too.

That style looks awesome! I like how it looks textured. Would like to see you develop something with that style into your part.
Almost done with my part, here's a teaser.

Ah it was his shield, got it. That makes sense, I'd still add in some lines or details for depth, but looks really good so far. Keep up the good work!

Looking awesome dude, a quick 'tip' the crumbled looking armor(?) on the ground, looks a bit like a puzzle piece at the moment, I'd recommend doing a quick frame overtop of the dropped pieces with some details, like, cracks and shading. Just to give it a more refined look. Unless it something completely different or course. Just a personal critique I wanted to throw in. Otherwise looking great, can't wait to see it in the final draft.
Here's another teaser image from my part.

I have other animation priorities at the moment, but plan to start animating my entry sometime late May. I know how hypocritical it sounds that I'm asking you guys to update your statuses while I stay in the dark, but rest assured, many updates are on the way soon.
My part will probably involve a fight scene.
Awesome man, I'm sure you're part will be awesome. We've got a lot of action so far in this years collab it seems.
Is anybody having any difficulties? I'm free to help out a bit or offer feedback.

Thanks man, I'm really enjoying the way this one is turning out. Have to fight every urge to show you guys the actual animation. Can't wait to see your part!

Looking good so far bud, from what I can see from your sketching, I think this video by Aaron Blaise will really help you out with that creature's stance. I'd like how you made it very thick on the bottom, but something about your legs don't quite fit with his bulky design. I may even go with giving him shorter legs, or having them higher up on his body. Check the video out though.

The background details are nice, But i'm unsure of what is happening with the animation. It appears as if the guy is saluting then falling over. For your character animation, I'd go with the #333333 color so it stands out over the background, it's a bit darker than your current color.
it has potential, but i'm just not sure what is going on, most likely because it's unfinished.

I reworked the ending to my part, now with 100% more action and 75% less build up! woo!
Would anybody be interested in trying to get a google+ hangout together sometime while we all work on our parts? to talk hang out and share n' what not. I like to believe I'm a good teacher for those of you who would like some pointers on your parts, or just creative insight.
