Response to: Libraries Posted February 21st, 2005 in Game Development

...put all of the things you want to use often in a movie and save it as myLibrary.fla ...then when you create a new movie go to file >Open as Library and select that .fla... it will open up a library window with the myLibrary.fla contents.... then you can drag them to the stage like usual ...used items will appear in the new movie's library... unused ones won't... hope that makes sense... or even applies to your question!

So stop being so condescending!

um... I wasn't being condescending! I only put group in quotes because I didn't know if you were using collab/team/squad/club/group/troupe/etc.

...and Space_Chicken... you're welcome... at least you get me!

And if you don't want people calling you GREENDOM why exactly did you NAME YOURSELF that?

...it's Greedom... as in greed... not green!

No one is telling you not to talk or to suggest things... if you and Twinsen want to form a 'group'... go for it! ...no one is stopping you! Just because some people don't want to be 'members' doesn't mean we don't all wish you the best of luck with it!

Myname has the colors for the blue collab, so... if you want 'em... contact him!

Response to: Actionscript codes here! Posted February 20th, 2005 in Game Development

Hi... I'm working on a game and I'm having 'issues':

Everything was working fine until I added a preloader and selection menu... now when I select new game and it moves to the actual game portion... everything displays at it should for like 2 seconds and then it all jumps back to the beginning and cycles through all of the frames (preloader, menu, etc) ignoring all of the stops and other code that's there ...and that worked the 1st time thru... in an endless loop.

If anyone has any ideas on why this would be happening... or better yet... wants to help me with the AS on the whole project ('cuz I obvioulsy suck at it!)... I'd be eternally grateful!!!!

Thanks

Thanks Sulphent... I did manage to get it to work... except... he still continues to move up even after I let go of the arrow. Would it be possible for you (or anyone willing) to look at my code and tell me what I did wrong! My contact info is in my profile!

Thanks!

I think he meant that there is no set deadline ...as of yet... but there will be one eventually!

Response to: 5 Shades of Red Collab! Posted February 17th, 2005 in Game Development

...I wasn't expecting you to start an official thread yet... I just wanted you to give out the colors ...that way those of us that want to get a head start on it ...can! :)

Response to: Actionscript codes here! Posted February 17th, 2005 in Game Development

...this has probably been covered (repeatedly), but... 219 pages is a lot to read thru, so... here it is again! (sorry)

I have my stage set to 550 x 400 (default), I have a background that is 1100 x 800. starting with the bottom right section visible. The character will move with the arrow keys.

So... say I press the Up arrow.... the guy should walk to the top of the stage, where he would stop and the background would move... so it looks like he's walking twice as far... until the background gets to it's edge and stops... then if I press the down arrow, the character will move to the edge of the stage and then the background would move until he hit it's edge and stops.

I sort of have it working... except... if you press the up arrow til the background moves, then let go of the arrow... it keeps moving! And I can't get the background to move back down once it's been moved up! I obviously don't know a lot about AS! :(

If someone would be kind enough to help me out with this... point me to a tutorial, via IM or ...something, I'd be extremely grateful!

Thanks in advance!!!

yeah, what homer6 said!!

Response to: 5 Shades of Red Collab! Posted February 16th, 2005 in Game Development

yeah... after giving it some more thought, just keeping it one color would be best.

Response to: 5 Shades of Red Collab! Posted February 16th, 2005 in Game Development

...I think that's a great idea!! (only because it would work out well for the idea I was toying with! lol!!)

Response to: 5 Shades of Red Collab! Posted February 16th, 2005 in Game Development

...why don't you just let people choose? they can do water, future, or both... it would add some variety... just a thought.

are you gonna post the colors? or are you gonna wait 2-3 weeks till you make the actual thread?

That happened to me with the red collab... it will be in there eventually.... has something to do with it being your first submission... I think! :)

and, yeah... Congrats all!

no preference... either is fine.

Response to: 5 Shades of Red Collab! Posted February 14th, 2005 in Game Development

yeah, I know it's a little early for this... but, can you maybe ...unofficially... post some colors and a theme for the blue collab so I can get started (since we all know how painfully slow I am!) ...might improve my chances of finishing on time! lol!!!

Response to: 5 Shades of Red Collab! Posted February 13th, 2005 in Game Development

I can't vote, but if I could, I'd have to say:

Greedom
Valtrix
Zekey
SpaceChicken

...good job everyone!

Response to: 5 Shades of Red Collab! Posted February 12th, 2005 in Game Development

Nikolats...that was damn hilarious! but you missed the point of the collab... you were supposed to send your file to mynamewontfit in and then he was going to put it in one big movie with all of the other and submit it... but... guess it doesn't matter now!

Thanks for the compliments guys, but apparently more than one person had a problem with my [ab]use of gradients and alpha's, so I guess it's best that I'm not participating.

...and just for the record, I started mine right when it was announced! I just work slower ('cuz I don't know how to animate) than the next person... and I have too many things happening this weeked to get it done... has nothing to do with laziness! :P ...so, yeah!

...good luck everyone!!!
