Unlike the previous WIP....which, strangely enough, featured Monthy Python's Black Knight.
Thinking about art is dumb. *insert Nike slogan here*
With that said, here's an interesting article found on Reddit - The man who couldn't stop drawing
Sarkin was rewarded with his first New York art show. At one point, a woman approached him. "Can I borrow you for a second?" she asked. "I just want to tell you what I think your art means." Sarkin politely obliged, and finally the woman asked him what he thought his art meant. "It doesn't mean anything," Sarkin said. "You want meaning? Go get the Wall Street Journal."
Sometimes Sarkin said he felt as if it was one giant scam, that he was taking money merely for doing something he couldn't help but do.

No, no it's not. Why would you ever think that? We know diddly squat about what kind of image your band wants to have. We know diddly squat what you actually sound like other than "like Black Sabbath".
We know diddly squat what to do other than that we shouldn't make it gothic style and that it's for a rock band called "Beyond Tomorrow". That's very little to work off.
Also, an idea - you might want to provide an incentive for those doing this for you. Just saying.
I have heard of Natural Selection 2 (and its predecessor) to be shining examples of this. Althought it's not a hybrid in the sense that you mean, another HL2 mod Overwatch is also a viable option.

I'll be honest - as much as I like to use GIMP for my everyday arting, if you're looking to do"graphic art" which I assume to be web/GUI/banner/etc designs, logos and signatures then you're most likely not going to be very happy with GIMP. The program becomes very uncomfortable to use once you start using many layers (if somebody tried to do a 100+ layer image in GIMP, then I would weep for them).
However, if you meant sketching, drawing and painting then disregard what I said, GIMP will suit you well. In fact, I would recommend you give MyPaint a try then.
Oh dear. Okay, to spare you the pain I will now list all the possible questions you'll inevitably get bombarded with (without the ridicule).
What is the game about?
What is the art style of the game?
What view do you want the helicopter to be in (side, front, top, isometric)?
What's it in for the artist? Will there be compensation?
Whatever the bloody hell you feel like. Unless you are working for a company that tells you what you must use, you can use anything you feel comfortable with. Computer+tablet, computer+mouse, pencils, pens, oils, charcoal, watercolours, your own piss etc.
With that said, don't forget to experiment and try out new things.
As a beginner driver, nighttime rides have always been a nightmare for me. It's when making out the different vehicles and traffic lights becomes significantly trickier and when all the lights start melding together into one large hateful, dangerous sea of light.

i really like this one, gives a nice feel.
...nice feel...? As in?
This one's based on an old sketch of mine that I kept lying around. A jeep left in the mercy of the teeth of time.
DAMNED ANTIGRAVITY, HOW DOES IT WORK?
But yeah. I love squirrels. Every year they visit our bird's feeding house during the winter and nom all the food meant for birds. We let them d that because they are just so unmeasurably adorable while doing that.
And strange. Hanging upside down with only your tail holding you attached? No problem. Climbing down a tree head-first? Piece of cake.
My creation for the first round of AVAT. Having seen the article about human-robots relationships I remembered the (jokingly awkward, but nevertheless) Tankmen's respect for their tank. Thus, Lucy, the tankmen's pet lover/demolition bot was born.
Had fun with the perspective, even if it came out awkward.
Hold it, just so we understand each other....you want somebody who would be willing to work on all of these projects? Or only on one of them? Or on an unrelated one?
Whatever it is, you better also supply additional info: desired art style, which elements need art and the general overview of the game.

Fun fact: I was so frustrated with the animal carcass because I couldn't find any reference images. Today I found a deer carcass, just sitting at the edge of the road. FML.
Also, full version with all 4 for your viewing enjoyment

For the silhouette, I think it actually brings the eye from the top right, which is the brightest location, down, diagonally over the piece, to the shilouette, but I guess it could be different between people.
Here, I grayscaled your image to see the values better and downsized it so that one would not be distracted by the details (This video demonstrates why the latter is useful).
Notice how the added green silhouette is chewing into the dragon's silhouette? Recognizable silhouettes are very important and currently the green silhouette is creating so much noise that it's hard to "read" the dragon itself. That is especially because the green extra silhouette is brighter than both the dark background and the shaded dragon skin, two areas it is contact with. Contrast attracts the eye and currently, you don't want that to happen.
Personally, I don't even think there really was any need to bring the viewer's eye back. Bcause you're bringing it back from....what? A large blot of bright paint while they have this more detailed (and thus more interesting) thing in the left edge and the wing's lines guiding the eye there anyway.
Otherwise, I'm quite enjoying this piece. It has movement, it has a pleasing colour scheme and unlike J-Qb, I'm completely okay with square canvases. They don't stop the composition within from being good.
Also...when you're bugged by DA's comments then just do one simple thing - ask them "why?". "What do you like about it?". "What doesn't work here?".
On a side note....that guy whose video I linked there? I warmly suggest you take a look at all his videos, they are quite awesome.
Use the tablet for EVERYTHING for a while. Use it as a replacement for your mouse so that you would become more comfortable with it faster. Surf the web using the tablet, play games with it, navigate your way around your computer....EVERYTHING.
Other than that, just plain practice.

Just gotta hate when you've proofread it all over again and again and then miss some tiny detail, eh?
I assume 6th of August is the real deadline?
At 7/6/11 01:56 AM, MajesticBob wrote: Or do you really think we will pay you to make your game?
No, it's the former. You post the minimum amount that you want for your work and he gets to choose who does the job.
Somehow, somewhy I ahd marked the deadline as July 4th. Bah
One should be capable of making something good with everything, whether it's the newest 10000+ USD Photoshop or a measy pencil and paper. It's your knowledge about proportions, anatomy, colours, perspective and a lot of other boring-sounding stuff that really counts.
Having the idea of requiring some specific piece of equipment to make art stuck in one's head is a good way to burn out.

Aww crud, I never figured out who they had redesigned :(
Should you, should you, should you.....they're all freeware. Thus you can download them all and mix and match as you see fit.
Only you know which browser suits you. Don't let others make the decision for you.

Proportions.

Generally studying anatomy would be nice. His proportsion currently are quite awkward, with the huge eyes, hand that rival the Heavy's in size, and muscles that make every culturist weep for their failures. In fact, while making this "badass", you seem to have gone the route of thinking - bigger is better. Not necessarily.
which makes his small hips all the more comical.
Also, leaning back while firing something is not the wisest idea, especially if one is holding a firearm of such calibre.
PS.PS- the "Bang"s are quite distracting.
