Haiti-like disaster in Iran, or NK Posted March 13th, 2010 in Politics

Say there's this Haiti earthquake level disaster in Iran, or North Korea, [insert random enemy of the USA here]. What would happen? Would we take opportunity to kick 'em when their down or would we send millions rebuilding it? Or something else all together. Discuss I guess.

Response to: Punk rock is Rap mixed rock he says Posted February 5th, 2010 in General

I remember watching some kind of documentary on Punk Rock that reggae had a strong influence on early Punk. Just google "sex pistols reggae" or "clash reggae" you get all kinds of interesting results.

I don't listen to punk really so that's about all the value I can add to this topic.

Only one who doesn't like MW2? Posted February 4th, 2010 in Video Games

I've even borrowed it a few weeks and don't see it's appeal but everyone I know (real life) with a ps3 owns this game and play it like they think it's the best game ever.

Mainly I don't like it because the single player campaign is sooooo short, linear, and hand-holding. Online multiplayer is filled with campers, and people who play the game way too much. And lastly I don't like it because it glamorizes war and military enlistment.

Response to: Leno vs Conan Posted January 17th, 2010 in NG News

I wish we could just go back to the way it was. Leno, and Conan were more successful at their original times/shows. There's too much late night tv on NBC and now they're screwed. Seriously 2 was enough, they had like 4 (Leno, Conan, J. Fallon, Carson Daly) Jimmy Fallon is NOT funny. I see a weak lineup with Leno at his original time followed by Jimmy. But it should generally be better by eliminating a show and cutting it to 3 (well 2 really because I don't think anyone really watches Carson Daly).

Just another movie like Waterworld. An over hyped overbudgeted piece of shit with gimmicky "groundbreaking" effects.

Totally. I'm not brave enough to blow $86 to be the guinea pig on this. I just find it weird this thing's been on Engadget and a lot of places but no actual reviews.

I like this comment "There's a lot of stuff like this that gets news... but no one has actually had one that worked...."

Has anyone been brave enough to buy one?

I have yet to find actual reviews of real people that've handled this thing. It seems too good to be true for the price. What do you guys think? Chinese piece of shit crapgadget, or is this a good bargain PMP?

I gotta imagine coming from a not very well-known Chinese brand it could be highly likely the paint has lead or the plastic slowly releases some harmful toxin.

I'm really surprised at a lot of these responses expressing concern & disapproval over wishing him ill. I actually expected more people to take the low road. A lot of people missed my quoted reply I wrote earlier though, I actually didn't mean "the end" as in death, just the end of him taking up air time in media.

I think most of us deep down, if we could consult our id on whether we'd wish some form of ill will upon him would. But apparently in NG Politics there's more people with conscience. I've heard him speak before and all I hear in him is hate, racism, and fear. And with someone like that, it's too easy to sink to their level and wish them some kind of ill will.

Really? I would think opposite, people with regrets would be the ones who want do-overs. While happy people would be apt to decline and see what the next plane of existence has in store.

Finding a lost cell phone w/ GPS Posted November 14th, 2009 in General

Is there a way to obtain GPS location of a lost cell phone if it's still on without paying for some service online to do it?

Been googling and can't seem to find how to do it. Most ways show you need to install some software before-hand, or pay for them to do it.

Beat me to it. Also though I think music is more valued/enjoyed when actually bought in physical forms or download. And I blame illegal downloading as a big part of why the music industry is so monotonous these days. Bigger record labels less likely to take chances with the chunks of sales illegal downloads take.

Do you really care if people consume these drugs?

IMO no government (state or federal) should have any role in what grown adults put into their bodies. Plain and simple. Life would go on.

Arch Linux is awesome, my server runs it. However, I think Ubuntu is a bit gentler on newcomers to the Linux scene, especially with the no hassle setup.
I did a bit of research on the type of Linux which would be most user friendly, being the reason I chose Ubuntu. I'll change it when I feel ready I guess.

One thing I do like about it though is that it is really customisable, it lets me set up my workspace in any way I please with ease. And it comes installed with a nice package of useful programs.

Might I suggest Gentoo? Granted it has the most manual installation process, but that teaches you a lot about just how the installation works, and a great head start if you're new to the command-line world. Just a thought. Also if you do try Gentoo, get ready to rtfm.

I don't have one either. I find them annoying on several levels. How the hell did cell phones become something "everyone" thinks they need to have anyways?

I just carry a calling card in my wallet so in emergencies I can use a payphone. All other calls can wait until I'm home to check messages.
