I always thought novels were always a main sources for movie ideas.... The problem is they come out with such shitty adaptations like I Am Legend.
3 Times (by my count) that novel (which happens to be a fav of mine) has been made into film, The Omega Man, Last Man on Earth, I Am Legend (Will Smith).
And the crappy Will Smith one was the furthest from the novel of any of them. I don't mind novel adaptations but ones like that should not have the same title as the novel if they deviate from the original so far.
IMO you got off pretty easy. Had the police not shown up, the Chinese might have butchered you and you'd have been tomorrow's "Beef & Broccoli", or maybe the "Orange Chicken".

For a second I thought NGERs meant something pretty racist until I realized NG stands for newgrounds.
i think there's like, this thing that makes lists of stuff for you from keywords... what's it called?
a search.. something,
Walked out on Knowing. Most predictable movie ever!
Plus it was released right after Next which was almost the same thing (didn't see that one though). I think some dollar theaters had Next while Knowing was playing.
And since Nicolas Cage doesn't act, he's the same guy in every movie I bet they were practically the same.
That's a dark bagel... Like, Wesley Snipes dark.

Yeah. The only song I can think of that comes close to telling a story is Mozart's Bagatelle.
And I don't even really imagine a story, but more of an image. When I hear it I think of someone playing a pinball table.
Disclaimer (read first): I'm not religious, and I take the Bible as fiction.
A friend & I talk about this once & a great while. We both agree the first zombie stories were in the Bible but not quite on who.
My friend thinks Lazarus was the first ever zombie because Jesus brought him back from the dead before Jesus zombifies and comes back.
What I think is that Jesus was a zombie all along. I think he bit Lazarus, Lazarus dies, then comes back as a zombie. As for Jesus, they prob just thought he was dead and prob after 3 days in that tomb he got so hungry for human flesh he rolled the rock out himself out of pure zombie rage.
Discuss.

That's why I like the Jefferson Bible. You get the Jesus, without all the Christianity & without the zombie part where he comes back from the dead.
It's just his philosophies, everything supernatural, all the stuff about him being a prophet is removed.

I'm pretty sure trees don't have souls and a cellphone is called manmade for a reason. It's a technological device, it can't have a soul.
Maybe. I was thinking along the lines of some Native American religions where the plants, dirt, rocks, everything has a soul or has god in it. Or like other pantheistic religions where god is literally everything.. maybe souls are everything?
The fees are astronomical. I don't understand how it's even legal for them to fine like that.
It's definitely stealing though. I think the recording companies should just go after the MSRP of whatever it was that was downloaded illegally unless they can prove the own it in some other form.
Instead they go after these ridiculous amounts they'll never get from the poor unlucky people they catch.

Ok so I didn't "say" it, but that's what I "meant". And in no way do I see how I could have even implied that all religion is accepting. You made that part up.
So quit making stuff up and just read me nice & slow. All I'm saying is it's important to not have your head up your ass and to take some time to learn about the world's different religions.
Remember, nice & slow, and no making stuff up.

It never fucking ends!
There are so many variations on what happens, heavens/hells etc. What if your soul becomes reborn into a tree or maybe something even inanimate like a cell phone. Sort of pantheistic, but that's the first thing that came to mind.

It's how it works for them, and thier effects on the outside world that it should be judged by. On the whole, Islam tends to keep to itself with the exception of extreamists. They judge the outside world as degrading, and certainly prefer to keep to themselves over exposure to it (for the majority). Someone who did a course on World Religions surely would have picked up on this? Or did you get the usual course where the teacher goes on about Christianity for 3/4 of it?At 7/31/09 10:21 PM, Podburrys wrote:
Ok you need to read what I wrote again because you completely misinterpreted it. What I'm saying is I had the same ignorance and it's important to at least look into/study/check out other religions regardless of what they think.
What you said is just what I was saying, it's all about how it works for them.
At 7/31/09 10:21 PM, Podburrys wrote: Also, Islamic people don't really care what you think about thier religion, so why do you?
That's somewhat an ignorant stance. I was atheist, basically against all religion before taking World Religions. And though Buddhists don't care what my religion is, I found enlightenment in theirs.
That's why.

I've tried burning Qurans too. Nothing.
Back to original topic though. I took World Religions at my college so you'd think I'd have something meaningful to contribute but the course was taught by a Christian enthusiast with much bias.
We spent little time in other religions and then huge section on Christianity (the most boring of the 5 main religions IMO). In Islam we learned Jesus was portrayed as doing some weird stuff that doesn't happen in the Bible. Like in Islam it's believed Jesus spoke as a newborn baby.
Crazy I know but look it up for yourself, or here's a link to one page on it.

Ignoring spam is the same as doing nothing. I'm trying to constructively think of a way to get rid of it.
Wade deletes more spam daily than you vote five out of pity on. It doesn't really matter.
than? try taking a course in english. And if anyone was voting 5's on spam, it's definitely not me.
At 7/31/09 12:22 PM, Mechabloby wrote: A waste of bandwidth.
Well to me all the spam is a waste of bandwidth.
But apparently some don't agree.
Was on this other thread about whistling crew spam and I had this idea. Maybe it's been thought of before.
What if there was a different whistle for spam that didn't take it off, but rather moved it to a different section (a kind of purgatory) so the retards that actually like it don't cry.
And from there the blamming process can continue if people don't like it.
That way the people that come here to see the good, actual, original work that's on here don't have to see so much spam intermingled with it.
I know there's some of you that are just gonna say Vote 0 on the spam, I do.
That's because people think you can blam a flash by giving a 0/10 review that says "BLAM THIS PIECE OF SHIT!".
I never thought the reviews help blam the flashes if that's what you're inferring. But you're right, some retards are actually voting up the spam I think.
If it weren't for the blam points I'd think it'd be best to just not even look at it. Because that's what they want initially, attention.
I think it's more of a eye of the beholder thing. I see soooo much crew spam. And learned my lesson not to review it.
It's hard to not objectively define spam as "sucking" or "useless shit" but I guess you can't say that in a review.
Personally I think there should be a whistle for spam. Even if it doesn't really "harm people", it is counter productive and annoying.
The voting usually keeps 'em out, but I've seen a few get through.

Know this is a day old. But I've been hooked on records since hearing one for the first time, and that was after I'd gone from CD's to mp3's.
A clean, well cared for record lasts a long ass time (parents have 45+ year old ones that work fine). And they sound awesome to me. It sounds more, "live".
But it's a personal thing, I don't think you can leave it to numbers or statistics. Some people just like how an mp3 sounds I guess. FLAC is cool too. But I think if it were successful, we'd all be listening to Super Audio CD's.

Ah, sneaky sneaky. Very cool, I wish I had a DI box still. Sold it before I got into collecting records.
I'll post as soon as I have my first good rip.
At 7/19/09 06:48 AM, Khuskan wrote: You don't need a preamp really, you can do all amplification via software. This will give you better control on how you want the sound of the rip to be.
I'm doing phono, you NEED a preamp. Otherwise it won't sound right. The preamp also takes the sound through some RIAA curve, otherwise it doesn't sound right. It's not just amplification.
Before making this thread I've actually tried without the preamp just out of curiosity and it sounded like shit. I somehow doubt you've actually done this.

Who here does this? I'm preparing to be set to backup my records to FLAC and had a couple questions for people who've done it already.
So far my setup consists of my iMac, Technics SL-QD33 turntable, so I just need a preamp right? Thinking about the TCC TC-750 phono preamp.
So what I want to know is:
1. Do you think this setup will give me decent quality to back up my records to FLAC with audacity?
2. How is the TC-750 preamp? Is there a better preamp I should look into?
I'm on a budget but I'd like to make quality FLAC without having to buy super expensive equipment.
What's the store? Do they sell online? I usually go to my local Zia Record Exchange or order from soundstagedirect.com but I'm always looking for new sources.
Also anyone interested, soundstagedirect has awesome packaging. Haven't had a bad record from them.
