Now that I've moved my summer will be spent job hunting... joy.

Response to: Wario or Bowser? Posted April 12th, 2010 in Video Games

Despite the flatulance I have to go with Wario on this one. He at least has the brains to vary up his schemes. Bowser keeps trying the same crap over and over endlessly.

Response to: Worst games you ever played Posted April 12th, 2010 in Video Games

I've done pretty well to avoid the really bad games but Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was an abomination.

As little as humanly possible

When you're married and broke you don't bother being creative with V-Day anymore. Dinner and a movie, that's about it.

Response to: Women comedians Posted January 29th, 2010 in General

The problem with most "minority" comics (i.e. comics who aren't straight white males) of any kind is that they only talk about being whatever minority they are. Gay comics talk about being gay, black comics talk about being black, and women talk about women's issues. As a result most of the time they only appeal to those within their own minority. There are occassional exceptions of course but it's really the way it is for the most part.

Blizzard is notorious for this, but there's a good reason. They don't release a game until they feel it is ready. The result is they push back release dates all the time but the end result is much more polished then you will ever get from a developer who rushes to meet a release date.

Response to: The best classic game... Posted January 27th, 2010 in Video Games

These questions annoy me only because "classic" keeps changing, many gamers now consider PS1 games "classic" which blows my mind.

For me though I LOVE SNES RPGs.

Secret of Mana
Final Fantasy III (which was really Final Fantasy VI but we didn't find that out in the US until later)
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Evermore

But I think my all time favorite I can't even explain:
Legend of the Mystical Ninja (SNES)

I can't justify that... but I LOVE it.

I would never call it my favorite but I need at least some cereal to get going.

Response to: You know that song SemiCharmedLife? Posted January 27th, 2010 in General

The other thing about that song is that there was an entire verse cut from the version played on the radio. I forget exact lyrics but there's mention of "little red panties" and "face down on the matress" which was all cut out for radio.

Response to: Nes Or Snes Posted November 3rd, 2009 in Video Games

As much as I appreciate the NES for setting the stage the SNES refined everything and is superior in pretty much every way. Almost every good game for the NES had a superior sequel on the SNES so I don't think there's much reason to go for an NES beyond nostalgia.

Response to: Why did the Dreamcast Die? Posted November 3rd, 2009 in Video Games

The games were far to easy to burn/copy/pirate. I had a friend in college with a Dreamcast and every single game he had was a burned copy and not the original. Sega didn't do enough to prevent piracy and that was the final nail in the coffin of an already floundering system.

If you had kindly listened that means you would have left because thats part of what he was asking. If you were arrested that means you didn't leave, which means you didn't listen. Not saying that you should have been arrested, it sounds pretty stupid but your story doesn't add up.

Response to: Do You Prefer Characters Dead??? Posted October 30th, 2009 in General

Depends on the movie, some stories really lend themselves to character death whereas others it would just kill the feel of the film.

Response to: Movies 'based on a true story' Posted October 30th, 2009 in General

There's three levels of this.

There's "A true story" which indicates the closest to the recorded truth, usually reserved for biographical movies where the makers worked closely with the subject or the family and friends of the subject.

There's "Based on a true story" which is slightly more removed. This is one you'll find alot in sports movies which will keep the basics true but add in all sorts of romance or personal drama tht has no baring on reality.

Then there's "Inspired by true events" which is the one that horror movies like to use. This is the most removed and basically means "this guy said this happened to him once and we made a movie that was kind of like that."

Honestly he was never that great, he was an attempt to make a Sony mascot that didn't take.

Response to: just an observation. Posted October 28th, 2009 in Politics

Personally I take great heart in the fact that the GOP seems to be leaning somewhat more moderate. When a government becomes nothing more than two extremes battling it out that's what leads to civil wars and dictatorships. Meeting in the middle is what the democratic process is supposed to be about. Most of us lose sight of that and have turned it into a competition between two sides rather than a conversation.

Response to: Are doc martens punk? Posted October 26th, 2009 in General

No piece of clothing is inherently "punk." It's all about context, the total package and what you've got going for you besides clothes that makes you punk. If the only thing punk about you are clothes then you're a poser.

Pink Floyd, The Wall. If you only listen to one song out of this album then you are robbing yourself of the full experience.
