I think you're on to something. Having all of these mechanical winged flying machines zipping around in the sky definitely cannot be natural.

Definitely worth it if you know what you're doing, and it's hard to screw up.
Many people claim that overclocking voids your warranty. It actually doesn't in many cases. For example: Intel doesn't care if you overclock responsibly. By responsibly, they mean not grinding down (lapping) the CPU, soldering new parts to your motherboard, and other crap like that. AMD and Intel both even make CPUs that are intended to be overclocked. Each processor has data sheets telling you the limits (with regards to voltage and temperature) that they can be safely run. Adhere to them.
Same goes for GPUs, but it may depend on the manufacturer. One of my heavily overclocked EVGA GTX 480s crapped out. It was watercooled and had a completely different heatsink. They just asked that I put the original heatsink back on, and they gave me a replacement without any issue. (I even did a rushed, crappy job at putting the original heatsink back on).
Just stress test and make sure it's completely stable. Overclocking can magically turn a $150 processor in to a $500 processor with little consequence. People say it reduces the lifespan of the part, and that's true. The problem is that there isn't really any data out there that will tell you how much. Even if there was, it's still on a case-to-case basis. It's usually something like 5-6 years instead of 7-8. I ran an overclocked Pentium 4 for a long time. It's still working, but I sure as hell am not using it anymore.
If you don't think a submission belongs on the front page, please keep it to yourself. You imply that there is some sort of benefit to waiting for a while before placing something up there (while at the same time completely disregarding any circumstances that may be getting it up there in the first place), but it doesn't even matter in the end because only administrators have a say in what goes up there anyway.
See if this helps at all: Bring up the task manager (ctrl + alt + delete), hit the applications tab, hit "New Task" (Bottom right) and type in explorer. You can also open programs this way without the need for the command prompt.
I go away for two minutes. TWO minutes to get a drink, and this is what it yields.
I went through a time in elementary school where I made a lot of them. I'd often sell them and clean my classmates of their lunch money. My teacher eventually made me stop because of that.
The last thing I'd want is more B/P levels. 30,000 points is high enough for the final rank. Please, for the love of God, don't add thousands upon thousands more!

Aw man, just because Coop dropped the 83 doesn't mean you have to drop the VI. Now your name feels empty.
Darn. This was supposed to fly under your radar and momentarily confuse you during your list updates.
But yeah, I dropped the VI. People don't get it right half the time anyway (It must be a Roman numeral thing) and NG is 80% of the place where I use that moniker anyway. I was thinking of changing my account to my first name, actually. That is, when I start making games in Flash and submitting them to NG. Could be a while, though. After doing Flash development as a job for a while, I sorta got turned off from it. But I digress. In the meantime, I'm more than comfortable being the original Rage. I am now six orders of magnitude more the real deal, or something.
What exactly are you guys talking about?
We have an audio forum, along with a thread dedicated for FL Studio questions.

Do you use Final Cut Pro? If not, then there's no reason to get a Mac unless you just have to for some reason. Everything else that's worth a shit is available on both platforms. I'm also not sure why you'd consider the Mac Pro when it's barely better than that HP but more than twice the price.
When people say the whole "Macs are better for video editing" bit, they're either ... A) Final Cut Pro users, since it's a decent program and is only for the Mac OS ... B) Are stuck in the 1990s and still think Macs are internally different from PCs (They can't tell because Apple keeps them from opening their computer LOL) ... or C) Say it because other people say it. And lots of people do video editing on macs because ... lots of people do video editing on macs.
I've done a lot of work on both platforms. The faster computer is going to do the job faster. That's it. Except I'm never, ever, ever going to bother trying to do any 3D work on a Mac ever again. They're absolute pieces of shit for it. Complete garbage.
Most modern video drivers allow you to set scaling options for when a less-than-native resolution is being displayed. If, for example, you have an nvidia GPU, you just go to the nvidia control panel. In the "Display" section, you select "Adjust desktop size and position". On that page, there's an option for "Use nvidia scaling with fixed-aspect ratio", which is what you'd want in this case.
I don't remember off-hand if/how you can do it for ATI, but it would be something similar.
Level 52. Golden hammer. Yes.
... here is the sculpt I got, printed by Moddler. A few hundred bucks got me a model 4" high (Seems pricey for that height, but my model does use up quite a lot of material for that size). Unfortunately, there is no way that a photograph can convey how awesome the print actually turned out. You just have to be there to hold it in your hands. It's made of a resin material and it catches light in a really awesome way. You can also feel the detail that was put in to the skin (Feels pretty rough) but unfortunately you're not able to see it like I was hoping you would.
All in all, it's an expensive practice, but totally worth doing at least once for those who are in to 3D modeling...
I don't often talk about the artsy side of my work. I'm much more involved in the technical side of artistic creation (Programming, rigging, dynamics, etc). However, I thought that this was cool enough to warrant sharing with people.
I enjoy doing a little bit of 3D modeling in my downtime. Problem is I don't ever have enough time to become as good at it as I'd like. To give myself a little bit of motivation, I figured I'd do a quick 3D sculpt and make a 3D print out of it.
So long story short, here's a 3D model that I created using MudBox and ZBrush. Yes it's a dragon bust, nothing too fancy.
And ...
Hey guys! It's me, another one of your friendly BBS comrades! Say, would anyone like to share stories about their recent misdeeds around here? I'd really love to hear some riveting tales on that topic, especially if you got away with it! Cheers!

About the RAM, I can't seem to find any four, 1 gig ram sticks :/ if anyone can find a page thats affordable with them, could you link? Again thanks for help.
Don't worry about the four sticks for dual channel thing. He's wrong. You can run dual channel just fine with two sticks. Just make sure you peek at your motherboard's manual to be sure of which two slots you'd need to fill in order to run dual channel.
As for the RAM you've currently chosen, it's a little on the pricey side. You can save a decent $15-$20 with a different set, like these.
About 4.7TB.
~185GB SSD RAID0 for OS/Programs. One 2TB drive for media/project files/renders/etc. Another 2TB to back it all up. 500GB external for some older things. Had the 2TBs in RAID1 before, but it didn't benefit me too much.

Yeah that's going to be tough in Flash : ) You could wait till sometime next year (maybe) for Flash 3D, then spend $3,000-$5,000 on Maya to actually make your 3D content, OR you could start using Blender for free right now.
Or you could just use one of the many free open-source 3D engines for Flash, still use whatever 3D package of your choice, and have an audience 1,000 times larger because they don't have to install a plugin they've never heard of that has so many security nightmares that official development has been discontinued.
Like you saw, the GTS 450 and HD 5750 are so close together in performance that it can almost boil down to personal preference. There are cases where one will edge out the other, but it doesn't appear that there is ever a significant margin in those cases. The GTS 450 uses slightly more power but is quieter and runs cooler. It doesn't sound like you need to worry about the HDMI output thing.

Yeah, no. The GTS 450 is nothing like the GTX 470/480 in that regard.
I can't believe nobody has poked fun at the topic starter's ineffective attempts at formatting text yet.
Hi there.
You'll get much better reception for this type of thing in the writing forum or by seeking a collaborative endeavor.

And it wouldn't do this at or faster than the speed of light either.
What will really make you think is if you had a stick that long between the two planets. You pushed it, would they feel it instantly?
Pretty much. What you're actually doing is sending a compression wave, which would move at the speed of sound. Even in steel this is only 3,000-6,000m/s depending on the alloy, which pales in comparison to light's 299,792,458m/s. The compression wave probably wouldn't even reach the end of the stick and you'd end up heating it up by some negligible amount. Having a material that's rigid enough for this sort of thing isn't possible either.

Why can't more people see dragons from this perspective? I guess furries are to blame for having their reputation ruined.
I know, right? I've wondered the same thing. I totally blame the furries. I'm often seeking new artwork and am very aware of the numerous websites that have that whole thing going on. Finding a really good image or artist in that sort of environment means wading through a bunch of these anthropomorphic things that people call dragons for some reason. They always have a build that, for lack of better phrasing, 90% resembles a human being. Good dragons don't have emo hairstyles, wear gym shorts, or bear comically over-sized scrotums. Normal looking dragons are always tagged as "feral", as if the notion that somebody would actually draw one makes additional qualification necessary. This happens even on websites that aren't driven by fapping weirdos. Seeing stuff like this gets bad enough at times that I wonder if dragons really ARE cool after all, and I end up having to revisit some of the cooler art that I've found to level again.
Shit, I just had a really awkward rant, didn't I.

Yes
I totally wouldn't mind being a dragon, because they're awesome like that. Hell I could even keep my long-term girlfriend because evidently she felt the need to come out of some random closet and tell me she has a thing for them. No, not the furry-fandom type of dragon thing, but the awesome concept art badass stuff you'd see in movies. I think. I was too busy looking at her rack when she went in to detail. What?

Interesting story: Way back when NG was just a website I'd run across every now and then from people sending me Assassin links or whatever, I nearly registered the username Bahamut. I was *THIS* close to doing it. I decided that the name wouldn't really stand out too much though because I would occasionally run in to someone on the internet using that name. I wasn't that much in to NG at the time anyway so I deferred registering altogether. When I was finally cool enough to register my account, it was taken, but I probably would've stuck with the whole Rage moniker anyway.
I guess the moral of the story is that anyone can be a dragon if they sign up for it soon enough, or something.
What are you talking about? America is like, in last place.
The Aztecs are where it's at, and the distant second place is up for grabs...
