Ho hum.

Attempting some of that "dub step" you kids keep going on about. Personally, I think it's a passing fad. Soon you guys will realize that the entire genre is just an introduction to a really good dnb track.

Meh, the rating system is broken here and most of us understand that. The only time I don't vote 5 on a song is when it's obviously stolen. If I felt especially wooed or taken by a song I'll leave a review saying so that tries to be as helpful as possible without being abstractly critical. Meh.

My opinion on arps is that as long as you know exactly what they're doing, the only thing they do during production is save you time. Anyone familiar with electronic music will instantly recognize an arpeggiator in action. It's the people who are unfamiliar with electronic music that get all hot and bothered by arps. In this case like I said, you should know exactly what it's doing and you should be well rehearsed in explaining what it does and what you do as a composer.

Familiarize yourself with your tools, be thankful for them and keep an honest philosophy about what it is you do. Because the technology is constantly changing, this field is constantly evolving. A new app can come around and make a professional an amateur again. There are always new things to learn.

Didn't even realize it... this is interesting. I didn't get any sleep last night. I didn't try. I've been in a really good mood and I've been really productive all night. I'm still going strong too. Meanwhile my gf is on her period and my roommate has been a little territorial and angsty. Maybe I thrive while other people have bad days? Maybe friday the 13th is my lucky day? Maybe I'm going crazy and I've actually been a complete douche bag but I've been hallucinating that I've been decent? Dunno. Friday the 13th...

Cogratz man! That's awesome news! I ordered a copy, I fucking love it man. I was thinking of animating something to one of the songs but I just can't find any time for animation in between my class schedule this semester. I've barely had anytime to produce things. I've also lost hope in the ctsg project ever getting worked on. One of these days I'll make something to your work.

What isn't good for musicians, NG or the like, is when someone comes on here with a project they are willing to pay for, and at that point someone says "I'll do it for free!"

That is bad business, and actually hurts just about all composers in the long run.

We can completely agree on that.

The attention game is the way it works. It maybe suck, but it's the way it works.

I stand by my ethics about advertising your peers on this website. Good things can happen to experienced composers and producers but for the most part, advertising isn't something most users here should be interested in doing. Progress and development are things that need to be pursued before fame and money. It's not that advertising your work can be a bad thing. However, it's more beneficial for what little community that exists here to help out other amateurs. It makes us all look a little more professional and humble if we learn to respect each other instead of looking out for ourselves.

THIS IS HOW THE MUSIC BUSINESS WORKS.

This isn't the music business. This is newgrounds. Ahem...

How do you expect Artist like me, SymbolCymbal, SolusLunes and one of my favs MaestroRage. Get noticed by there work? If we would go on pointing fingers at other artist.

How do I expect you guys to get attention? Honestly, I don't. Attention is a worthless thing to aim for on a website that offers nothing for it. Most the users here are amateurs, so you should be more interested in getting reviews from more experienced producers in the aim of progressing your sound and skill. All this talk of getting noticed reminds me of high school.

Plus where not that bad of an artists like for example MaestroRage is really good at composing some realy awsome epic classical music. Why should he sit back and let other artists get fame and more Adreveneu?

Ad revenue? Is that what this is all about? Pennies?

I didn't post it, but maestro kind of deserves what little social graces he gets on this site. Granted he actually has a bit of a career and can make real money elsewhere through his music. Money isn't earned on newgrounds. The only thing you can really get on newgrounds is a pat on the back from peers that actually enjoy your music. When it comes right down to it, newgrounds is a somewhat worthless place for individuals looking for a career in music unless your an amature looking for a little bit of feedback to progress. Also, maestro was one of the exceptional people I talked about in my last post. He did point out a few other artists.

Also this is the intenet! Remember? I am also not that bad of an artist. I know a DJ personally who is willing to work with me in DJing in some clubs! By using my songs! Im not the greatest i know that, but darn it i to want some recognition for my work!

Learn how to DJ your own work and you can find a career in what you do. Producers aren't mules for DJs. I have a bit of contempt for DJs with no production experience. I went to a house party recently where the DJ was working with one speaker. In this set up, stereo imaging flies out the window potentially destroying half the sound. Aside from that, he had the bass mixed way too loud. There were no highs. It's great to have good bass, it's a completely different thing to just up it on the notion that it sounds good without considering it's relationship to the rest of the mix. Any competent producer would have taken note of the sound quality.

Also you Quarl your also one of my favs artist why point fingers at some artists that wouldnt even know that where listening to there music? What about YOU!!

Dawww, thanks but I don't like talking about my work in places like this. Moderation suites artists better, especially considering we're dealing with an abstract field. To assume you know more than anyone else is to throw out the fact that music is a field based around three things: theory, history and cultural relevance. Everything we "know" could have evolved in any number of different ways. Arrogance only works as a tool to sway individuals who have little to no exposure to the world of music into believing that your work has more depth than anyone else's.

Guhhhhh. This thread makes me utterly and completely sick to my stomach. This is the reason why the audio portal is busted. Individuals who put their own self worth before that of their peers create a system where there's no agreement towards what's good and what's bad. By self advertising without consideration of other artists, you only help perpetuate a system where real talent goes unnoticed. Zero bombers do a similar thing by attempting to throw their work to the front while giving no consideration towards their peers. This shit is disgusting. Here are a few artists that will yield some good work if you scour their libraries for a little bit...

Padman. He hasn't submitted anything here in a few years but the library he left behind has some of the best electronic music newgrounds has to offer.

no1r. Clean, classy, jazzy. Another great guy with great sounds.

sorohano. If you don't know who this is, get to know him. He offers a pretty cool cd in the newgrounds store but he offers a lot of his work for free. You can take advantage of his freeness, or you can do the newgrounds audio community a huge favor and buy his album, then use a song or two from it in a toon of yours to help advertise him.

I have more but you'll have plenty of fun looking through those libraries for sounds. As for the rest of you, fucking stick up for your peers and help create a clean environment for professional development instead of pointing to yourselves; perpetuating a broken system. This thread is disgusting. There were some nice gestures from a few of you but god damn... there's a thread for self advertisements and you know it. I've linked to this before and I'm a hypocrite for doing it again, but I really don't fucking care.

Create an instance of the NN19 digital sampler and load it up with the sample you want. If you're sample is small enough, that will work. If you have a lot of samples I'd recommend using either the redrum or you can learn how to use the zones in the advanced sampler. If your sample are really long, I'd recommend using a free app like audacity to chop it up a few times and use it as several different samples to save yourself some trouble.

Exactly. A lot of us are out of our element, but that was a risk you ran when you signed up. I typically only produce dnb. Guess what genre I'm not doing?

Now, it would probably be wise for us all to stop complaining before someone works out a flow chart of who's doing who.

Have you tried turning down your headphones or getting monitors? I rarely turn the volume of my headphones past a quarter of their max. In fact, the only time I turn them up to half of their max is when I'm checking the final product just to make sure it still sounds good to kids who love ear damage.

Clearly the pun was intended >:C

Everyone falls into weird habits. I have a tendency to pan things willy nilly ineffectively. I'll layer maybe four or five snares, then send them all in different directions. End result: pans become barely noticeable. Thing is, panning the entire snare to the left or right sounds kind of awkward. Leaving it mono seems like a bad choice/ seems boring. Panning the snare layers in all different directions helps me sleep at night.
