Haha. Normally I'd be thrilled that I wouldn't have to worry, but to have the opportunity to go up against last years winner and one of the best classical composers on the site, I went full out with my work. I'm honestly quite disappointed that the match up won't go ahead :( I genuinely hope @bosa re-uploads his track and @step will give him the opportunity to still push through without a forfeit!
This is where they agree and I lose fml
Didn't you know crabs have always been able to fly?

I'm actually scared now. Definitely did not want to hit writers block right now.
Crycrycry
NOOO NOT BOSS AND KOR-RUNE. Brb gonna go sit in a corner for 6 hours, rub vaseline on myself and pretend to be a slug.
Well done to everyone who made it through and good luck. Now it's gonna get intense!
LOL, this is my life almost everyday. Still trying to bring out an EP from 2 years ago.

Boom, I'm in
Hostility and rage is not how a musician should respond when receiving feedback and critical points from a Judge. We have to choose scores based on all elements and quite frankly, every judge has a different susceptibility to what they believe will be great, compositional pieces of work where others won't.
If a judge or even non-judge has taken the time to write a small review of your work (Not including hate reviews like: Lol this suckz more than ur mum) and it's not as great as you expect it to be, breakdown the advice that has been given to you, research on the topics and make yourselves stronger musicians. I've had plenty of hate-mail and 0-bombs and whatever, but that's just how it works.
Smile, move forward and keep making music. Not for others, but for yourself. :)
@TheDoor6 it's always 5AM in the morning for me :'(
Now that the Russians are out of the way, I will be posting a few reviews scattered about across the entries, but first I really need to finish my NGADM song. Whoops!

OH MY GOD! The cult just sent us a message through Twitter! Can anyone speak their language? This is what it says:
"Nich raan dier, fukurai int aschinct GOO."

At least everyone's making progress which is good! I haven't even started haha, BLANK SLATE ALERT :'(
Just gonna drop my new track here that got me through NGADM auditions. Take a listen if you like :)

Awesome, glad I made it this year! Good luck to everyone involved, it's gonna be tough!
I'm in now way new when it comes to production, but in agreement to the above. After playing guitar for 10 years and producing for roughly 6-7 years, I'm definitely still sat at the bottom of the ladder.
But hey, we all have to start somewhere! Learn your terms, learn your production, what synth does what, how to make specific sounds, what frequencies instruments resonate at, mixing & mastering and so forth. There is a LOT to take in but once you learn your stuff, you begin to notice all these little nuances in normal songs that make you go "Shit, didn't even know that was there. SWEET"
What I'm saying is do it for the fun! You'll learn so much more and progress in totally new ways. Focus more on speakers rather than your laptop at the start as your ears are your tool when it comes to production, so if you have excellent speakers and can get a laptop with a decent CPU and reasonably sized hard drive for samples, you're balling. I'd also recommend a form of soundcard as HQ sound and low latency is a HUGE help!
If you ever need help or want to know anything, do feel free to drop me a PM or any of the guys above offering info. We're all happy to help :)
This is some of my recent work. It's probably not alongside the same genre's you want to work in, but in terms of production, I feel it's one of the hardest!

Good luck to everyone for Round 2 as well!
Feels nice to be judging rather than sitting on the edge of my seat with poopy hanging out my ass.

Are you using a Mac or a PC?
For Mac, you could start with grageband to get a feel for how the DAW's work, or for PC, you could use a similar one known as Mixcraft. They all come with their own VST's/Audio Unit's etc. to produce your own sounds and these were what I started with.
Once you get a feel for them, I would definitely suggest moving to a more professional DAW such as Cubase/Logic/Pro Tools/Sonar etc. Every DAW has it's own workflow and pro's/negative's to each one, so try a few out and find one you feel comfortable with. Master the workflow as best you can and constantly expand your VST's and Sample's over time to what you deem necessary to produce awesome work!
Takes time dude, but you'll learn everything in the end :) If you ever have any questions feel free to throw a PM my way!
Welll if you're looking for any rock/metal style tracks, from battle tracks, original styled video game music or suspense building and so forth, I'm happy to give it a shot!
Here's an idea of the level I'm at, current remix I've done from Sonic 2.
