Topic: AS solution to thick outlines ?

Posted: 08/16/06 06:00 PM

Forum: Flash

Well, the outlines aren't actual lines, they're just fills of the character MCs that were expanded to whatever size I needed to make it so it shows up as a 2 pixel expand.

Let's say we have a box that's 100 pixels, but 100 pixels and put into a MC. Since it's still 100%, I'd duplicate the box MC and put it on a layer behind the orignal box. The duplicate would be painted black and the fill would be expanded to 2.

Now let's say that box was in a bunch of differently percentaged MCs. For simplicity's sake, let's say there's the box MC inside of another MC called scene. Scene is at 100%. Inside of scene is the box MC, which is scaled down to 50%. So multiplying 1 (100%) by .5 (50%), which totals to .5 (50%). Inorder to have the box's outline appear to be a 2 pixel expand on the main stage, I would have to make the fill expand on the duplicate box to 4.

Keep in mind, my toon has a lot of mixed number percentages that change a lot. What I'm trying to find out is if there's some AS that can do the percentages of the fills for me. It would make it a lot easier since I'll be doing quite a few zoom-ins.

You could get an account at Photobucket. They support .swf's and I'm not sure what the size limit is (I just put up a 260kb swf on there), but as long as you don't have a whole bunch of people checking out that swf everyday, it should be okay as far as bandwidth goes.

It isn't alien, it's turkish.

Actually, it depends on where you live. If you live outside of Turkey, then it's alien. If you live in Turkey, anything not Turkish is alien.

So anyway, phishing is illegal, but increadibly easy to spot. I never give out information to anyone for anything unless I contact them.

Topic: AS solution to thick outlines ?

Posted: 08/16/06 01:26 PM

Forum: Flash

I've been working a toon and I've had to do a bunch of math for every character to make sure the outlines always showed up as the same thickness the whole time. What I'd do is animate the whole scene then duplicate the character and turn all of the MCs in it black and increase the fill to whatever I figured out the math for. (A zoom of 100% = 2 pixel thickness, 200%=1, 50%=4, etc).

I was wondering if anyone knew of an AS way of doing this for me automaticly.

It would be especially helpful since I have a lot of MCs holding MCs, some of which at different percentages and I'll be using a lof of zooms. (ex. I have an MC that's at 200%, then in that, another MC at 75%, in that, another at 200%. After doing the math, that's 150%)

What I used to do to change my .mid's to .wav's is use a double male jack, putting one end in the mic jack and the other in the headphone jack.

Later I discovered that I could just open Volume Control, go into 'Options'-->'Properties' and select to adjust the volume for record. After that you can enable 'Stereo Mix', which is what you need.

Topic: Line Scale Question

Posted: 05/16/05 06:25 PM

Forum: Flash

I know that hairline doesn't change size, ever. I'm talking about lines with width. If a movie clip has a 2 point line and the clip is enlarged to 200%, the line will appear to be 4 point. I'm merely curious if is possible to keep the 2 point to appear as a 2 point when it's scaled in a clip on the stage. Perhaps there is some sort of AC that outlines clips.

When I change change the scale of a movie clip, the line thickness increases or decreases with the scale. I would like to know if there is a way to make it so when I scale a movie clip, to make the line thickness always appear the same regardless of the movie clip's size.

If tutorials don't help, what do you want us to do? Perhaps we should come over your house and help every single step of the way. Or we could just come over and make 'teh falshes' for you.

On the other hand, if you have a specific question that hasn't been answered 1,000,000 times in the first page of the forum, then that would be a different story.

Forum: General

I have a massive list of horror villians and monsters. I wrote out moves and fatalities for about 95% of them. I'll throw it on here later, if you'd like.

I didn't include horror heros, like Ash. Perhaps he could be a secret character.

I made Satan the final boss. Sub bosses are Death, the other 3 horse men of the apocolips, and Cerberus. Not all in the same game, though. Perhaps in sequels/addons.

It would be funny if they had the same hair as the character's they're playing. It would also be helpful since other than Kiss's make-up designs, it's hard to tell them apart.

This is my guess as to who will protray who:
Paul Stanley as Jerry
The guy with the silver make-up as Kramer
The cat guy as Ellain (haha!)
The guy with the star (Ace Freely?) as George

Why not just go to the college and pick up a course catalog? It would list what classes they have. You might want to take some art and design classes since it would probably be a pre-requisit anyway. You can probably also talk to a counciler there to find out what other stuff you'd have to take, if you're going for a degree.

Not bad. It needs seperate buttons for 'change sprites' and 'next background'. Also, some of the stuff is outside of the scene, so you might want to change the movie size or resize the MCs.

I think you could just put in 10 character MCs and 10 buttons (counting the two bosses and Reptile) . Set it up so that the 10 buttons change to a different move in the character MCs. Perhaps the moves should be animated.

OR

You could make a player 1 and player 2 select screen instead of 10 buttons in the background.

C'mon, think about what you're saying. Imagine if a game company said
"Coming in 4 years: A multiplayer tank game, in flash. That's all we can say, cuz it's only a vauge idea and we don't have anyone to work on it. We don't even have the hardware or software to even begin it."
That company would go out of bussiness pretty damn quick.

1). Just cut the piece out and save it. Just set it to loop in Flash.

2). Just look for a file converter, you can probably find one on Tucows.com or something
