Hell no? Is that just a generic response? Your saying no to a competition where an animator could get 50 bucks + a nifty little morale booster? I think your crazy.

So here is an idea. Has anyone considered doing something that looks like a 'March Madness' of animators on Newgrounds?

I'd be willing to host it. And make it worth while too. What if I threw 50 of my own bucks into the pot and made it the prize? I used to host an art contest but due to my own inactivity in the third time I ran the competition on the site that I hosted it on, I withdrew the prize and contest and ended it short.

So now I got 50 bucks of prize money set side, but no contest to put it in, and I'd like a brain storm of how I could use it. My idea was to get 64 willing animators submit submissions every... I dunno. Either two weeks or a month. I think we can make the first round a week and then up the time in between with each round. All 64 would be seeded in an NCAA tournament style bracket and then compete against each other. Someone answer these questions for me to get it going.

"Where would it be hosted?"
The forums seem like too cluttered a space. Anyone got a website/host they would be willing to put it up on? Garenteed hits! You'd set-up the page. I'd just send you the updated images. A bit of dedication required. Maybe I'll just setup a blog.

"How would the judging work?"
I really really really want the 'people' to judge. But I'm worried of 'fraud.' E-mail posting or online polls seem faulty and corruptable at best. I think highest vote score is a good idea, but I'm worried about corruption too. Perhaps it wouldn't matter though? I do have like 7 dedicated judges left over from my last art contest that would certaintly be willing to try.

"How would people get accepted?"
Unless you got a better idea I'd just try and recruit people. Don't worry, I'm fairly qualified at that.

Anything else? Suggestions? Would you like to see it? Would you like to participate in it? Seriously here, I'm willing to 50 bucks to the winner, and hell 10 to the second place. Thats the prize from before. Besides, I just worked extra hours this week and got rod placed "you know where" after working so much. So the larger paycheck will make me feel a bit better after giving the cash.

May 6th, 2003...a day I keep remembering but now It's 2:40 AM and I've got insomnia. I was trouncing through my old author's replies and found one I remember from an idiot guy I remember all too well.

Now, I've written over 400 reviews, most of them were around this point. I'm not on newgrounds much anymore, but now that I've dedicated a bit more time recently, I've decided to check out a few things. Like this guy. Artistic Detesticus Check out the flash. He's a good artist, but didn't really bother to find a great way to display his talents. Thats fine. My review? You can read it, AND his reply. I say "Your a good artist." and "I have to give you credit for doing a good job on this" and "this isn't the type of thing people really like to see here."

He then continues to go on this immense tangent and call me, (and I quote) a "DUMB FUKCER." At the end he hillariously tacks on "Learn to spell."

See, for him, the anger was probably political. In one flash movie I had made a very half-assed review in an animation called The Analogy. Watch it. It's not a bad anti-war analogy. My only problem is the oil part. Where is my oil! Gas prices are 2.71! God dammit I want my oil!

Anyways, my partially political stance may have kept me from making a very detailed review TWO YEARS ago. And who cares? I gave the thing an overall 6, which always reflects my vote unless I say so. I gave it a passing 3. I actually passed an animation that went against my political view! Thats right!

So back to the original guy, he starts to go on and on trying to "rebuke" me. "Well, I protected it.

1. Put CD in drive but don't play it.
2. (if you have windows) goto my computer and right click the drive one wherever your CD is in.
3.Click 'Explore' and find the song you want. Right click it and hit copy.
4.Now paste it in whatever folder you want.
5.Now goto your flash program and get the song file! YEY!

It's traffic. It means that so many people are coming through newgrounds at one time. So many that it has to deny a few people from being able to do stuff. usally people who submit movies are the ones who get rejected because of the long wait they have to go through.

It's not your fault. It's NG. And I don't really blame them. They just need new servers and these ones are getting old.
