Topic: External scripting

I'm making a "spot the ball" feature for a football club, where people choose a square from a grid, where they believe the ball is. The grid is made up of 960 identical buttons. The problem I'm having is in changing one variable in the getURL function on every single button!

Is there any way I can view all the actions externally or otherwise to edit en mass?, as in a full script list? As opposed to clicking on one button edit the action, click on the next button, edit....zzzzzzz.

I'd be extremely grateful of any possible help on this as it's driving me crazy.

Thanks

Topic: Swf To Dvd

Posted: 11/04/06 07:28 PM

Forum: General

I've made a Christmas Flash animation and want to put it on dvd. But I've used the virtual camera script and some filters that don't convert to AVI or Quicktime easily. I've made dvd's from Flash before and usually use Nero9 for my dvd creations, but this animation is stumping me.

I'd be really pleased if anyone can advise me or help me convert this animation to dvd (NTSC and PAL) And I'd gladly pay money to any of you guys who can help me on this matter. Someone out there must have the right program to convert this piece, so please let me know if you can and I'll PayPal you $100 dollars

You can view the piece at this address:

Maybe each User has only one vote, on the final day of the contest? That way, the artist themself will obviously vote for their piece (or maybe make it so you can't vote for your own work? Dunno, thinking aloud?), but voters will view many more entries, before choosing and use their 1 vote more wisely?

The you guys will have a user percentage favourites?

I've voted on every one I could. My own Halloween submission got lost in the Avalanche!

I sure chose the wrong time to post my Halloween submission!!!
It got lost very quickly, pushed to the hidden portal pages by a heap of Day Day flicks!

Cheers for the delay update, I voted on most of the under judgements and it appears to be getting back to normal. If you're interested, my Halloween effort can be seen at this address:

I uploaded a Halloween animation yesterday and due to hundreds of submissions, it quickly left the portal and it still hasn't passed the judgement stage. But as it's hidden deep in the portal, it's almost impossible to be viewed. Does this mean it will forever remain under judgement???

To anyone interested, my Halloween effort can be viewed at:

Great thinking Tom. One overall vote would encourage more reviews also, as people would feel they don't have to do so much?

On another matter Thomas, those freakin' mosquito's really spoil the Newgrounds experience daily.

Keep up the excellent work.

Hi Victor,

I added that script to the frame, named the buttons button1, etc and uploaded the file but it keeps giving me the error. "A script in this movie is causing Macromedia Flash Player 8 to run slowly.....Do you want to abort script?"

Why would this be?

Thanks for this reply. Do I place that handler on every button or on the frame?

Forum: Flash

I have dozens of the same button for a Flashsite music store, which links to paypal for users to buy tunes.

All the buttons are the same symbol with code like this:

on (release) {
getURL("https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/web
scr?cmd=_xclick&business=email@hotmail.com

&item_name=CD1&amount=5&no_shipping=0&no_n
ote=1&currency_code=GBP", "_blank");
}

Rather than change the variable "item_name=CD1" to "item_name=CD2"............to "item_name=CD1000000". Is there any way to generate the change of code for all buttons?

Thanks

Hi Claytrom,

Thanks so much for the support. It didn't work locally for some reason, but once I uploaded to a test domain, it worked perfectly!

Thanks again

Making buttons is simple, I've been making Flash sites for over 7 years, it's getting all the variables PayPal use, such as ammount, currency etc into the button?
