Recently I came up with an idea for a game, however, I ran into a problem. One part of the game, I would like to make the player scared, or, at least a bit nervous/anxious, but this is incredibly difficult in flash, and I was wondering if anybody had any idea of how to accomplish this.

Nice graphics, the movement is a bit strange (using the mouse) and it is a bit slow and unresponsive.

okay so you have AS2. Haven't you thought of going onto tutorialized or flashkit and looked for a tutorial. They have multiple tutorials on this kind of stuff. (don't ask me for a link, because I don't know the exact URL)

Work on the graphics too. In terms of coding, you might want to even choose an alternative collision detection method besides hitTest.

Can you honestly expect someone to go through and look at that code that you just copied. Figure it out yourself, it will help you learn, so you don't have to ask in the future.

I have to agree with everybody else on the fact that you should be doing something simpler first, but as you obviously want to do this, I'll ask, are you using AS2 or AS3, because I can help you with AS2 but not 3
