I went off Lowkey recently, not sure why. Can't say I'm familiar with Akala either. Fan of the other two.

Favourites gotta be Dirty Dike, Stig of the Dump, Dr. Syntax and Leaf Dog. A lot of people hype Fliptrix a lot, he's good and all that, but I find myself skipping a lot of his songs for some reason.

Hmm, as far as the drum beat, it's probably all right. Especially if it's just for a 16/battle beat their doesn't necessarily need to be a lot of switch ups. Basically just go with what you feel! I think it just needs to 'pop' more, if that makes sense?

I tend to just check the related videos list on Youtube of artists I like. Easy to find new shit that way. Also there's been a few free UK collab CDs I've acquired thanks to facebook, with cyphers and stuff on and I've found a few good artists that way too.

I never really thought about it that way, but you're right. They're pretty hard to classify really as their older stuff is weird as fuck, but their more recent stuff is a little more toward the standard rock-ish style.
Slipknot are the same (on their self titled album particularly), some of their tracks there is no other word for it but 'rapping'. Spit It Out is a great example (and a fucking BEAST TUNE. Love this shit).

If you like that Redlight Kings, listen to Sage Francis' most recent album, Li(f)e. It has a very similar feel, and of course, it's Sage Francis so it's dope as shit. This track is probably my favourite one from that album, Three Sheets to the Wind. Shit could be a chart topper, but of course it's far too conscientious for todays youth... (But that's a whole 'nother discussion, that only serves to get me all riled up)

I also enjoyed some of Everlasts blues-hop (not all of it, mind). A lot of people hate on him just because Eminem doesn't like him, but he's not that bad.

Some of the early Deftones is a little bit rap/rocky, and some of that is really good too. I also still like Linkin Park's hybrid theory. Shit is nostalgic as hell.
