Also I heard that Deltron 3030 is doing an album.

There's a new Four Owls album coming out soon-ish too. (A UK hip hop supergroup of sorts)

Really, it's excellent that you're seriously looking into getting it going in the right direction. I'll still be using the site because I don't see why one small group of bellends should make me change, but I look forward to seeing something implemented. And anyway, you'll always have problems with these kind of assburgers, no matter what systems are in place. I honestly think they have some kind of desperate need to feel like they're getting attention. They can't help it.

I like the way the voting system can work in favour of talented artists, but when this sort of shit happens it taints the whole process. Yes, yes, I get it, "It's happened to other genres portals blah blah". So why is it still happening? I also get that it seems kind of a difficult fix when you can't pin point who exactly is the issue, but you have to try for the sake of artistic integrity, surely, unless that stopped being the point around here and nobody told me.

Anyway, here's an example for you. A while back people were getting riled about this whole thing so Kill Bill made this humorous diss track. Give it a listen and tell me it doesn't deserve a better score than that.

I do like them. Excellent lyricists. Not my favourite UK artists though to be honest, perhaps a little horrorcore for me. Big fan of Stig of the Dump, and I've been on a bit of a High Focus trip for a while. Jam Baxter, Dirty Dike and Leaf Dog. Not to mention The Four Owls. UK hip hop is so alive right now, I love it.
Also everyone on this track is a beast.

In fact, if any of you want a fat ton of great UK hip hop go listen to my YouTube playlist or something, faggots.
Faggots.

Clabtrap 2013 will be announced eventually, but as of now I don't think anyone knows what the fuck's going on. Go to Big Red's profile and send him a message that you want to be added to the mailing list and he should let you know when it all kicks off. For now, vote on the battles in Mark's tourney!

I agree, partially. The vote system is horrendously flawed (what with the zero bombings), which leads to barely any new audiences. So only the people who already know you can find you, meanwhile all the same cats get the top chart spots.

I do like the portal system though, and will continue to use it regardless. It's a really cool melting pot of artists, and generally everyone is very supportive and willing to help others improve (some exception obviously, as exemplified above...)

Obviously Rama already has a ton of beats we could use, plus Spawn's probably worth a shot. Also it might be worth asking Kill Bill.

I think it's very important that we get a fresh archive of beats for this comp, because the same ones have been recycled for years.

You don't really need a studio set up to be honest. I just use a USB Condenser microphone, an old pair of the girlfriends tights as a pop filter and boom, job done.
There are always beats available around here if you need one too.
Personally I got into rapping because I was really into hip hop and just thought, "Fuck it, I can do this." so I gave it a shot and developed etc.
Just have a crack at it, man.

As for gear, as I said, I have a Samson Condenser mic, I think it's the CO1U or something like that. It's pretty inexpensive and it does the job. When I have more money I'll likely get a better one, but for now it's fine.
Software I use is called SONAR LE. It came free with the mic and it's got everything you need there. Compressors, EQ, VST plugin capabilities and all that bullshit. I'm only just learning to mix myself, and it's a fun process no doubt. Lots of good video tutorials on the youtubes.

Lol who is this guy?? ^

Ok, guys, can we please keep this a business-only thread? I don't want to have to wade through tons of shit to have to see the important stuff.

So far, as far as characters go, that's not a priority. We need to get the basics down with whoever is involved with the actual coding. So far I think we have Spawn and Glitch willing to help out on that front, along with whoever Rampant knows.
We have me, Mao and BCT on the graphics side of things, so that's all fine, but again, we can't really do anything until we've spoken to a dev guy.
