Political/Social reasons for hentai Posted March 21st, 2003 in Politics

Pre-post notes
I moved this topic from the General Boards because I recieved no intelligent feedback. I figured I'd have more luck on the politics board, where intelligence is a bit more common =P. I hope that's true. Anyway, don't take this topic off for repeating it, if you ask me, it never existed on the other one because no one actually took it into their heads.

ON TO THE REAL TOPIC!

INTRODUCTION
I've been a fan of Anime (not hentai, but Anime... like Trigun and Bebop.. Not the kiddy crap that floods western TV most of the time =P), and I happened to wander upon an article on its origins once, and after that I at least understood why. I know this won't get to everyone, but at least it will get to some people. This topic is trying to help everyone understand why hentai developed and why we shouldn't abuse its followers!

ANIMATION IN JAPAN POST-WAR
The base for all anime was of course created in Japan. The time it really grew was after the war, and due to their economy, and other geological factors... it was alot harder for them to develop television, live actors, recording studios... things like that. So the creation of Manga came along....

ANIMATION IN THE US
These 'comics' in Japan developed a lot differently from those in the US. The industry here never had much room to grow due to censorship. Comics were given massive restrictions due to heat it took from parents, review boards, politics... The crippling blow to American Animation was the belief put ahead by those vocal parents that said 'cartoons are for kids' so basically the genre ended up being severely limited. You only ended up with those corny simple-story-morals, OBVIOUS good guys and badguys, super heroes, and other ridiculous and childish brainwashing bullshit. (Kids are underestimated if you ask me, if anything American Comics limits intellectual development because it brainwashes them with simplicity. There's also the issue with Disney's monopoly of that industry at the time, and how they crippled many small buisinesses in the field... but I want to keep this short.

ANIMATION AND INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT. AMERICAN VS JAPANESE
My little brother was able to handle anime like Trigun and he is young, and it has much more complicated and interesting plotlines... keeping things simple, and leaving such simplistic morals, and having it be the ONLY thing they are subjected to, will mold people into idiots. Which might even be the reason why so many people ARE idiots. But that's a different topic, right?

ANIMATION AND JAPAN : DIVERSITY
Japan's post-war gov't had to stick to the American rules, and unlike us, they were actually able to do it properly. The ammendment of freedom of speech WAS ACTUALLY FOLLOWED... unlike the hipocritical bastards that killed animation in the US!!! So diversity arose since people were allowed to say (and draw) what they wanted.

THE BIRTH OF HENTAI
Just like how the porn industry started to grow in the US, it happened in Japan too, but since their culture had become totally engrossed with manga and animation (due to the lack of the alternative), the development came in the form of hentai. It is NOT "perverted cartoons".. to them it WAS their version of porn. I can't expect you to understand the cultural differences that led to it.... But I tried.

CONCLUSION
Hentai spread across the world after that... why is it accepted? Some hold cartoons to a higher level than we were taught to. Some just find it arousing and don't care what others think.

To summarize the development... HENTAI exists because of the WAY that THEIR CULTURE DEVELOPED, and the FREEDOM OF SPEECH that they let exist.

Extra notes. Not part of the essay =P
Just to pre-empt a possible statement I might end up getting back..
"Well the internet has spread real porn, so they have access to it. Why do they prefer cartoons? Are they all lifeless losers?"

The answer is no. They just grew up with manga/animation so it's within human reason if they ended up being open-minded enough to enjoy it.

On a totally different note
I wonder what would have happened to the American Animation industry if it wasn't censored in its birth. Maybe anime will inspire new artists, and they can break free of the stigma. I am not saying I want US making animation-porn. I am talking about proper storylines, and not 'simpleton kiddy-shit'.

I watch 'real porn' rather than hentai yeah, but that's because of where I grew up =P. I am just saying I understand WHY it happened, and I won't be a flamming faggot and harrass people because of the way their culture grew. (( ***And that's what I want to teach you people! Don't flame what you can't understand!!*** ))

Nostradamus is the biggest farse ever. Anyone can be so cryptic and vague that you could apply it to anything. Sheesh, I remember my friend making a joke during the last super bowl using Nostradamus' literature to suggest that he was predicting the outcome of the game. The frightful thing was that it almost seemed true. :P

Of course... then again, my friend also said that the Raiders would win... guess not.

Heh. Good point, many people come off as being stars or being deep when they're just being way too broad, or way too confusing, which some confuse as intelligence.

Intelligence through word to me is being able to quickly get your point across using vocabulary that can be understood by all of the intended audience, while still having enough evidence to back it up =P.

I'll have to read into that guy a bit more before I comment specifically on him though.

Girlfriend. Hands down. But it's best if you can include your g/f on the games, and have the best of both worlds. Add in some ice cream and funky Incubus... maybe some other friends... drinks... bizarre party of craziness. Or just keep the first three things... depends on your mood.

Oh, yeah I forgot to state the importance of that above ^_^; Boy I must sound like an ass.

The point of the above was this, "You won't find a girl too ugly attractive, despite mind... unless you don't think highly of yourself"

But I could never love a girl for body alone of course. It requires both for sure =P

True to words. It's absolutley underestimated how daft he is and then the ingenuity of his own mind workings. Sephiroth himself is superior, he will always be God of villans.

Meh. Sephiroth seemed way too cliche. His coolness just seemed way too overplayed for me... (At least he isn't like Frieza in DBZ. ARGH THAT WAS HORRIBLE.) Kefka breaks the rules. He's a total whackjob. Ended up doing WAY more damage too. He totally fucked over the planet, unlike sephiroth, who failed.

Also, Kefka made the survivors his slaves so he could live like a King, rather than Sephy who just wanted to blow it up. I'd say that despite K's nuttyness, he's got the better plan =P

Response to: A Woman's Body Posted March 21st, 2003 in General

Mind over body? Ha. This is how it works.

Generally one tends to settle for someone of close to equal appearance (this depends on how much they value themselves. It can dip higher than their actual appearance value or lower).

In almost every case, if you do not find a woman to be attractive, than you either do not want her, or you value yourself so lowly that it doesn't matter and you accept said person as the best you can get.

If your statement were true, and mind should be valued way over body, we would live in a world where guys flock to the Mother Theresas of the world. Which is kinda sick.. It only makes sense for people of roughly equal 'level' to link up.

Of course, some good-looking girls are just generous.. lol. If anyone gives themselves to a 'lesser looker' it's usually a girl, and not a guy doing it. I think the world is alright as it is, if you still think what you do, that's fine. You take whoever it is you want.

Well, it was kinda intended to be a copy of SimGirl. They've said that there were elements they liked in it, and they were sad that simgirl wasn't completed. Which is why you find similarities.

Even though you'd have to go pretty low for me to say it's totally untolerable.
