Just my opinion: Robot Day has always been one of my favorite NG days, because it's robots! I like how simple the theme is, it's not referencing any past NG thing like Madness or Pico, so anyone can join in. I just really like robots! But that's just my opinion!

Happy Robot Day!

We would definitely use it if it existed. I'm a big fan of logos.

thanks, any help would be appreciated.

Unity and Flash Player are two separate things, you gotta download the Unity Web Player plugin to play Unity games.

Hope that helps.

Yo Tom. When I try to buy something with my store credit, it makes me put my credit card info in. Even though I already have enough store credit. What's up with that?

Hey.... Tom... if you lowered the price of the Newgrounds Poster by just ONE dollar, I would buy it INSTANTLY.

Just saying.

For example, a movie may be intended to be viewed as an SWF, but an MP4 version can be available for phones and other devices that don't support SWF.

Is there ever gonna be an option for the person watching to manually switch between SWF/MP4, if they're on a computer? Because sometimes I want to see that perfect vector art and sometimes I just want it to load quick.

This new trophy system would likely encompass all existing trophies so it could address that and also allow you do things such as browse all winners over time for a specific trophy, like daily Portal awards, monthly, etc, in one central location.

I think the deal with the co-author thing is, the trophy shows up here, but when you click "view all", it's not listed, and I'm pretty sure that means they can't front page post either. Where as the trophy shows up on my page because I submitted the game.

The custom awards system is still pretty high on our todo list, been dying to give people little Pico Day, Annual Tank Trophies, etc. virtually. :)

When this happens, it'd be cool if you could retroactively go back and give awards to all the winners of the past 10+ years too. If that'd be too time-comsuming, maybe get some special mods to go through all the old lists and do it. I'd be willing to help out with that if needed/possible. Just a thought.

ALSO was the bug that only gave the daily trophy to the owner of the submission ever fixed? I know a few members of a certain Game Jam 7 team that would probably like to get their share of "my" 1st place trophy.

You guys do great work and make really good decisions for the site, keep it up!

Can the awards be re-allocated to places 3-7? Otherwise it seems a little unfair.

@TomFulp, this is a really minor issue, but... a while back, some guy sent me a friend request. Before I could accept/deny it, the request disappeared (either he canceled it or the account got deleted). Now there's a little 1 stuck up there forever, even though I don't have any new requests. I can live with it, but just wanted to point it out.

Response to: NG portal voting system is broken Posted August 21st, 2013 in General

When I joined NG back in 2011, just before the redesign, the judgement process seemed to be working pretty well - it would take just a few hours for something to pass judgement. So I think the redesign definitely has something to do with it.

A possible semi-fix for the judgement problem might be a scouting system, like the audio/art portals, where scouted users don't have to go through judgement at all, but everyone else does. Just an idea.

But it'd be pretty cool if it was.

Honestly though, I think NG's kind of lacking a good, detailed way to browse all the old content. I miss the old stats pages that displayed everything in a list, rather than the new icon format. I want to be able to see what the top scoring movies of 2003 were, or the top Flashes on December 4, 2005, or random stuff like that.

Also, just generally featuring some of the older content would be nice, because there's so much really good stuff that gets forgotten about. Most of the featured stuff is all from the past year, so it'd be cool if there was more of a focus on "classic" content too (even "classics" from just a few years ago). The only think like that now is the "this date in history" in the classic portal - I just looked at that and rediscovered this cool gem, it'd be great if stuff like that was more prevalent around the site.

I agree with this. If you could change the genre or add a search term without the tags disappearing, that'd be pretty good.

Response to: Time-Lapse / Speedpaint Art Posted August 16th, 2013 in NG News

I think the best solution would be put them in the Art Portal, but require them to be linked to an Art submission, so things stay organized and people don't just start uploading random stuff. Although I could understand people wanting to make speed paint videos for stuff they don't actually submit to the Art Portal, but I guess you have to draw the line somewhere.

Another thing that could help the video problem overall would be allowing users to upload videos of any kind to their account, like in the dump or something, and these videos could be embedded across the site. So if you wanted to post some wacky live-action thing you made, you could do it, it just wouldn't be in the movie portal.
