I recorded the first chapter of a book which you can hear here. I would have done more but the writer of said book said he wanted to rewrite it, so I am waiting.

True, but this is what is a lossy transcode, and those are bad and should be avoided at all costs.

Depends what you're trying to make and how you want to make it.
Will you be performing a lot, will you use real instruments, will you sing, etc.

I'm generally electronic-ish, but I own a few (terrible) instruments.
