Well, no team that has ever won the world cup has ever lost their opening game. So, in a way, yes it would. Also, I would NOT predict that Spain would win the cup.

Really great match - superb play from Switzerland.. Amazing seeing Switzerland desperately holding out their 1 - 0 lead.

Welcome :-)

What did you think about the world cup tie against England? Have you noticed any other interesting reactions about it?

Response to: Newgrounds Cultural Exchange Club Posted June 15th, 2010 in Clubs & Crews

Country representatives updated! NOTE - If you have not clearly stated that you come from a specific country you are not automatically put on the country representative list. Sispri and FunnyDudeInSchool
for example please give me a shout if you want to represent your countries :-)

Regarding deadlaw117 and the Philippines - unfortunately you cannot represent the Philippines unless you actually live there and know the culture well, hopefully this is okay with you. I just feel that it would be wrong if someone looked for a Filipino to ask about the Philippines and then that person would get names of people who have never actually visited the Philippines. If you want to represent the country you currently live in, please tell me :-)

I have been watching the world cup lately, I am delighted that Japan managed to win against Cameroon. It was a tough came and the underdogs (Japan) managed to come out on top in the end.. Good game Cameroon!

The NGCX currently has 15 country representatives stemming from eight countries.

Countries with most representatives:
1. Canada - 5
2. USA - 3
3 - 4. Brazil - 2
3 - 4. United Kingdom - 2
5 - 8. Ireland - 1
5 - 8. Japan - 1
5 - 8. Latvia - 1
5 - 8. Mexico - 1

I don't hate him, I just think that from what I have heard of him he does not have any particular singing talent. Then again - that's the case for many modern popular artists, especially mainstream ones.

Just watched Paraguay vs Italy from afar - if you ask me it was the best match yet. Both teams looked hungry and played well and the score really reflected the match.

Also, loved that Japan managed to overcome Cameroon! IKIMASHOO NIPPON !

Hey everyone - I'm currently out of town so to speak and have some difficulties in keeping everything updated, however the map and list of country will be updated soon.

As for the question about national requests rather than international request - those are of course fine too. In large countries one part of the country might be very much different from another part of the country. Examples of countries like these include China (People's Republic), USA, Russia, etc.

Also, I'm hoping you guys manage to watch some soccer/football because I think it's a really nice international multicultural event to see even if you're not a great fan of the sport. I do like it a bit though so if you're like me it's even better. How is your country doing in the FIFA World Cup? Did it qualify? Did it fail to qualify? Is soccer/football a big thing where you live? Where I live it is actually pretty popular along with baseball, so it's almost like a euro-american mix :-) I can tell you more about that later.

Cheers

I have been to Brazil, it's a wonderful country. Nice people, culture and nature. I also know someone who was born in Japan and later lived in Brazil, there are quite some Japanese immigrants in Brazil I believe.. Maybe you know that.

North America is getting yellow, hehe. Welcome to the club. Although I consider myself a international citizen, I am currently assigned in Japan. My membership does not add much color to the map, unlike yours. If you want information from me, ask anytime - if you want photos, you have to wait until next week when I get ahold of my camera.

Newgrounds Cultural Exchange Club

Welcome to NGCX!

As many of you are aware - most Newgrounders hail from the US, but the interest for Newgrounds and its contents is shared by people from all over the world. In fact, Newgrounds is a very international site considering the vast variety of nationalities present on this site.

This club is dedicated to the promotion of international cultural understanding. Here any Newgrounds members can share information, photos and other media digitally that tell of our cultures and countries - what kind of animals inhabits the backyard of a South African house? What does a McDonald's restaurant look like in Poland? What does a Brazilian high school classroom look like?

Anyone is free to ask questions and request photos from different countries and cultures but also freely share information and photos from their own cultures even if it hasn't been requested.

No membership is required as this thread is for everyone who is interested. However, it is possible to volunteer to go on a list and become associated to your country. This list is then accessible by request for finding users from a specific country.

Let's go!

Response to: I'm so getting an iPhone 4! Posted June 8th, 2010 in General

It's funny because most of its "new features" have actually been around for ages.

Some examples.

Filming in HD - Came on phones about a year ago.
5 megapixel camera - 8 and 12 megapixel phones have been out for about a year at least internationally.
Multitasking - Difficult to date when this came about, but it has undoubtedly been around for a very long time.
Front camera - Has been around for at least five - six years.

It's funny how people simple-mindedly fall for the sleek design and shiny interfaces. It's a form of ignorance.

Not a bad prediction there. I agree with it in some ways but I doubt Argentina will make it nearly that far. I do believe and hope the Netherlands will go all the way or nearly all the way though.

By the way, how did you create that bracket? Some website or something?

A step away from traditional Apple ideas in their product, way to go! It's kinda funny though ..

"makes the dream of video calling a reality" - I had video calling on my phone five - six years ago.

"features a 5 megapixel camera" - With a small lens too, yawn.

"HD video recording" - Had it in my phone for a year.

..but it's a step in the right direction, great!

Overall I'm rooting for Holland, Japan and Korea (South of course .. there is no other Korea to me).
