Actually, any scouted user can see it.

Read these for more info:

It also helps if you post the image here in the thread along with the link to the art portal version.

'cuz we're all lazy.

Oh, and... welcome :)

Response to: When the redisign happens... Posted February 5th, 2012 in General

The site will be 'offline' .. there will be a flash place holder (collab by luis). It is happening around 10 am (ng time) and is expected to be down for 6 or more hours.

...at least that's what I've heard.

No, it's just a preview thing that photoshop does when you zoom in that far.

I'm sure it won't hurt anything if you submit it a few minutes early... since you're not scouted and all.

I adjusted the brightness/contrast and pulled out some of the red. The thumbnail is way too huge. Scale it down to at least half that size (if not more) and move it up into the empty area above it so it doesn't cover up your work.

if you don't know how, you can upload to your dump and pm the link to me and I'll do it for you.

Response to: "omg Its A Zombie" Collab Posted February 1st, 2012 in Collaboration

MarkyLyne made it clear in his new collab thread that he has no intention of completing this one... and it seems steakandkidneypie failed at it too. So unless someone else wants to step up and complete it, I'd say it's 'dead' and shouldn't be bumped anymore.

I know it's a wip, but ...once again, you need to watch your positioning. The tall building that extends beyond his back arm needs to go or get moved elsewhere.

The color combo you're using isn't very appealing. He's too dark against the dark background and the blue is too vibrant. The red of the sky is too solid/uniform which makes it look flat. The cloud/smoke on the right is nicely done though... maybe you could add more of that behind him to make him stand out a bit.

He has some anatomy and proportion issues... like his front forearm being too thick. The rest is too small and dark to really comment on... but it's a good start! ;)

Response to: Island in the sky Posted January 30th, 2012 in Art

I like this too... I actually really like the sky colors. It can be tough to keep that combo from getting muddy and you managed to do a good job. I don't care for the addition of the distant 'islands', they're too undefined and look like a mistake.

My favorite part is the cool blue grassy patch on the left. I thought it was water/ice (and wished it continured to fall down off the island) until I zoomed in on the bigger version. You might want to swap the mushroom patches... the back one is too bright/light and would look better closer to the main lite area, imo.

I don't care much for the tree top... not sure if you were trying to make it match the clouds, but it looks like... a blob of cotton candy to me! lol ...I think if you broke it up some and made it more leafy (less compact) ...or even more bumpy to actually mimic the clouds, it would fit better.

Response to: Convert lines to Fills problem? Posted January 29th, 2012 in Game Development

Yeah, I've had that happen before... the way I got around it was by making smaller selections of various areas until enough was done that I could select the rest and convert that. Sometimes if the stroke is too big it will go all wonky too. In that case, I do it in smaller increments. My guess is it's just too much for the app to handle, or interpret ...or something like that.

You can make art for the sake of art all you want... but when joe dirtbag takes that art, puts it in a book and sells it for a shit ton of money and you don't see a dime ...that's a problem. Unless you're joe dirtbag or his brother, of course.

At 1/29/12 02:50 PM, Goat-Man wrote: Because of advancements in Flash... Tracking down someone with every version would be a pain in the ass.

I'm aware of what's involved. I've hosted enough collabs in my time. It's not that difficult to find someone to help back save... and as a collab host, you should be prepared to take on tasks of that sort to get things done ...if you can't, or don't want to... then you shouldn't be hosting collabs to begin with.

I'm guessing there are people in the zombie collab with the capabilities of back saving all of those parts to flash 8. If not, I've seen plenty of requests for help with it in the flash forum. There are ways to make it happen if you try.

So, again... what's so complicated about it?

Response to: 50$ For helping with a GUI design Posted January 29th, 2012 in Art

I also appreciate that you've offered money up front and I hope you get someone to help you out... but there's a difference between saying "hey, can I use this?' and "hey, can you make this for me?" If someone were to ask you to make custom music for their game, I'm sure compensation would be discussed rather quickly. So you can hardly compare your past audio portal experiences to what you're asking for here.

weren't you an audio mod at one time?

It's only fair that people considering joining this are made aware that there's a real possibility you won't finish it. So why put a bunch of time and effort into something that you'll just abandon anyway?!

If you had actually learned anything you would be asking people to back save their zombie collab parts to flash 8 so you can work with them and get that finished instead of starting something new. So why don't you do that now? ...then once that's done, you can focus on this.
