There were Serbs in Kosovo, there still are, as a minority. The war actually started because Serbia wanted to have Kosovo as a part of its own country.

American-western involvement in kosovo might have only given the russians a reason to annex crimea and possibly any parts of eastern ukraine. Of which I oppose, as it is causing a lot of disruption and violence.
