Experience and B/P Badges.

Here you can scrol ldown a bit and see the list of badges. Your voting power is dependant on your experience and your B/Ping.

(Sorry this is short and kind of useless... all my good ideas have been funnelled into my novel lately.)

.
.
.

I felt like screaming out, what do you want?, but I knew it was no use. I knew asking questions was not getting me anywhere. I found it perfect timing for these men to arrive. Simply recalling what they told me before seemed to begin to fill some gaps. I am monitored – this is obvious. Why I am being monitored I do not know. Was someone afraid I would deviate from their little game? Did I truly feel at best while killing?

I looked ahead of me, and my gun was already upright towards those standing strong in the wind and rain. Impulse, Intuition.

“I KNOW NOW,” they looked at me, still without movement, “YOU ARE THE STIMULI!” the words barely shouted over the storm towards them.

Them and all the other crap thrown my way.

I lost track of one of them. There only stood three in front of me. My mind wanted to wander my surroundings desperately looking for the fourth, but I knew that would put down my guard. I stood, silent, listening.

I turned directly around with my fist in the air, and locked my right arm with a yellow arm behind me. I twisted my body to the left and elbowed the machine in the face while stepping back away from his reach. Two shots was enough to drop one more robot to the ground.

I turned to my left and found nothing. The attackers were making use of the dark surroundings. I felt my arms suddenly barred to my back, and a whisper in my ear, “come with us and we will take you from this place.”

The gun, still in my hand, shot the foot behind me, but nothing. My rage grew and I jolted my arms foreword with all my strength, bringing two mechanical arms with me. The other two pulled out their weapons. I saw what they did to that one Eli. I ran. I ran to the edge that Eli fell off of and I jumped. Shots clang and ricocheted off the roof behind me as I fell to what seemed to be a sure death. There was no Eli beneath me.

You could be the next Nostradamus, and write in quatrains using anagrams, symbols, metaphors and three different languages to predict the future.

Not to go too far off topic here, but the one thing I find ironic about all the Nostrdamus business of arguing whether or not he was truly a prophet or just a mental case... is by 2026 we will know. He actually names dates. He said by 2026 two great powers will align and stop/end the third World War, and then 1000 years of peace will wash over earth.

So why don't all those people who choose a side just wait twenty years and find out. Then do the whole "told you so" business and be done with it.

Seems like a mishap by you.

One of two things (as I am a little confused about your ambiguous porblem):

1) the original file is not saved to the folder you beleive it is. This could be because you saved it in "My Documents" and you are checking c:/documents and settings/(whatever your username is in XP)... people suaully dont know how to find their "My Documents" the long way... so check at the top of the scroll down and "My Documents" will have its own little section.

Or, in the option os the converter, you are simply saving the converted file to somewhere you are unsure of. Check exactly where it is saved to so you can find it easily in Windows Explorer.

Ya, I might try and start helping ppl out again, but I won't be participating in any of the lists anymore.

Also, I remember your B/P ratio thread you made on the Wi/Ht forum. Did that stop because of Wade complaining about those stat lists? :(

After his complaining, I just decided to give up on it. The list wasn't one of the major important ones. It was just something I was curious about.

For me on the lists, in those old days, I was just on the NGTL and the B/P list. Now, I'm in the B/P list, responses list, reviewers list, the regulars list and the 10k list. That is pretty good.

Ya, wow. Nice job.

I think Toocool for blams and gfoxcock were the funniest. gfoxcock, I just laughed when I saw the word cock put there instead of cook. I'm not trying to insult gfox, but I will admit that name was funny.

haha, true. It was random humour. I laughed too.

Response to: People's obsession with 666? Posted December 19th, 2005 in General

The Divine Trinity = 3
The Elements = 4

4 + 3 = 7, which is considered 'perfect', 'whole', et cetera to christians (ref Bible)

6 is one less than 7, which represent being less than perfection, not holy, and 'out of the loop' for lack of a better phrase.

"His number is 666" (Rev. 13:18).

It has become so mainstream because some ppl are wack jobs and put the mark on their right hand of forehead, which represents the worship of the best (satan)... and all this junk happens to you if you do so... check revelations.

To note: I am not christian, I just study world beleifs. So how accurate this is, I am not 100% sure.

At 12/17/05 07:57 AM, Shrapnel wrote: What? So then they blame the time period? Aren't you agreeing?

How did you come to that concluson. I was stating how you contradicted yourself.

The time period colours the reader's knowledge.

I will quote you again:

"The writer can only blame him or herself for writing poorly or blame the time period for not having background of knowledge to draw from."

You say "reader' knowlede" ... when we were talking about the writer.. .which you started.... obviously, with that quote.

Are you saying that you can grow up in the 21st century and be oblivious to world events?

Again, I dont see how you derive that from my words.

How do you explain the allegory in Guilliver's Travels not knowing the government in Europe at the time?

I never read it. So I could I say, but it doesnt seem relevant to me.

You blame the time period for interpreting things incorrectly.

How does the 'time period' interpet anything?

Why are cows sacred in Hindu culture? Could it be the cultural taboo with killing the cow in the short term to feed the family lead to starvation in the long term?

That is irrelevant too. You asking questions doesnt make a point. State what you mean and maybe I can validate it.

Yes, this is history but books based on that ime period wouldn't really make sense if you didn't know all the background now would it?

Exactly what I said. "What you know"... you keep contradicting. Its confusing me.

Movies all say Nazis are evil yadda yadda but are they really evil?

no. not evil. they are patriotic and loyal. hitler could be considered evil. I see him as a genious with extremist ways and prejudicial notions. Take away his bias, and descrimination... take away hes extreme attitude and antics... and you have what could have been a man of history... but in a positive light.

Does anybody even study Nazi Germany before watching Indiana Jones or do we just accept that they want to take over the world for no good reason by trying to find religious relics.

Ask people...

and I think you know your answer. Very few will study a movement before watching a movie based around that time. You (as in the average person) expect the writer and director to portray it for you. Movies are entertainment, not work. And if used otherwise, to send a message.

What? that was useless.

Tell me, have you seen a pure demonstration of feminism as you describe it?

Um... opinion isnt pure. yet, yes.

Why do I need to post points when I can just use wikipedia...

You don't. That has nothing to do with anything. I was simply f'ing around with you. As in, playing out the obvious to aid... that didnt even compose enough generalism to be connected to the overall narrative.

At 12/17/05 07:38 AM, Shrapnel wrote: I'm not talking about writing about what you know.

Yes you are. That is the whole point. Literacy is writing what you know. You can't argue any other way.

When you interpret something, you must consider the environment it was written in.

The writer can't consider that though. They cant compose the future. And even if they try, they base it on what they know. Plus, you are changing what you said now... you just referred to the interpretation (which refers to the reader), when the original argument was concieved by you referring to the writer:

"The writer can only blame him or herself for writing poorly or blame the time period for not having background of knowledge to draw from."

If certain things didint exist, or didnt unfold appropriately... you couldnt blame the time period on it, because you wouldnt know any other way. The rest of your points were self explanitory.

What was meant to be written doesn't mean that it can't be interpreted differently.

That is exactly what I was saying. As your post on your view was much different than mine, but I still enjoyed your valid backed up points.

Interpretation is up to the reader's own experiences as well as the views of the time period.

Well, the views of the time are certainly irrelevant to the reader unless the piece itself centers around societal norms or society in general, I suppose. As everyone has their own views and mores, so generalized, accepted perceptions arn't always valid. In fact, I would argue that they are nearly never valid, because as much as we are conditioned in the way we act and speak... the way we think is most oftenly different (even if unsuspected, supressed, or unconcious). The 'id' - if you will - is an example of concoius effector. The individual decides on what stand they take in their mind, which is where they are in reading poetry/prose.

But a writer can't tell everyone they are wrong for thinking something else.

A good writer shouldnt have to. A good writer decides what is interpretable and what is forced (and how it is eased).

The writer can only blame him or herself for writing poorly or blame the time period for not having background of knowledge to draw from.

You can't blame the time period. Fiction is meant to be imaginitive... sure, you write what you know... right... so everything is rooted to something already accepted... so everything written is based on history (or backround of knowledge) because you don't have the capacity or intelligence to remove yourself otherwise.

I didnt read the intial guys post, but the part about it being equality was right. Feminism sprouted and grew around the concept of equality and is still accepted by all sociologists as that. Equality from the supressed feminin view.

Only extreme feminists would say something similar to your remark (which there was/are sects of). I hope it was sarcasm. lol.

The best way to do them for abs is crossing your arms across your chest and making sure theu dont leave your chest, and your feet dont leave the ground... and giv'r

problem is, that technique isnt necessarily good for your back... but we're all quite young, so we dont have to care quite yet.

200 consecutive isnt huge, but its wierd to suddenly start off with.

I'd start doing 100 a day. For the first week it might burn, but if you can make it past that you'll probably be into a habit anyway. Then adding 10 every week or two (depending on your aches) would suffice.

At least, that is how I started.
