yah, funny thing tho, I never learned html even though I know Actionscript. so could you do a full script like how it would fit into the frame. Also I never knew you could do html in flash would there be any downsides?

Dynamic Text Problem Posted July 23rd, 2005 in Game Development

I cant seem to find a way to use actionscript to change the size of the text in a dynamic text box. I looked through several of my actionscript books but all I found was this one piece of code that was something like "styler = new TextFeild". and then "setTextFormat(styler)" but this requires a with statement for styler including every variable that a text has when all I need to change is the size. So if anyone knows a better way please let me know.

...Hahahaha oh whew. You are kidding right? look, I dont know how much you already know about actionscript, but even experienced scripters take a day or 2 to get a decent platform engine running. Even more if you include AI and upgrades and shit. If your new to actionscript I suggest you start small. program text based games or RPGs. Get accustomed with the whole concept of if statements, for statements, and while loops... And also I guess you want to know...(.I wanna say "with" statements). Anyways, platformers are big, real big, no ones gonna want to waste thier time to make your dream a reality when they have thier own. especially not if they have to split the credit with you when they did all the dirty work. So like I said, learn it on your own, I personally have to do both animating and actionscripting cause I couldn't find a damned artist. We all have our little road blocks, but thats not any excuse to try for an easy way out.

Dynamic Weather Posted July 21st, 2005 in Game Development

just stopping by for a bit of help from people who know where to find stuff.

this is a flash I made with several different weather conditions.

Dynamic Weather
use left and right arrow keys

the last one being lightning has already had dynamic sound effects added to it.
I want to have sound effects for the other ones too though and Ive been checking flash kit, but they dont have everything. and Im not sure what other sound effects to ad.

for the colliseum I'd want some cheers and stuff to show that somethings happening. Maybe a bird cawing every once in a while.

in the snow cabin scene I have no idea what to put other than some cold weather music.

also in the third scene im trying to find some wind gust sounds so occasionally I have break one out just to keep the sounds going.

finally after all of that I want to have a fairly long music loop for each of them like maybe 30 seconds.

Im still searching flash player but any links to other sites would be helpful. If you notice any glitches, tell me so I can fix them.
