Yeah, that's probably why they don't get the votes. Does that mean that everyone supports their own race / skin color? I'm not so sure about that. It could be racism, but I think it's because different races could have total different interests, or they may just be good at other things. Does the fact that there are more European-Americans and Europeans (white people) than other races in hockey mean that they're racist? I don't think so. Does the fact that there are more African-Americans than others in soccer mean that they're racist? No.

The topic "White America" wasn't getting making any replies for a day or two... I was afraid that it was dying out... it's my fav topic for the politics section of NGBBS, and I'm glad that people are posting again. Well, I'm gonna start posting again too.

Just make new movies, and if the quality of enough new movies is different from you existing grade - by that I mean a large difference like a few points, your average will change and go closer to the grades of the new movies - if they're worse, your grade goes down, and if it's better, your grade should go up. NEW is just when you don't have enough movies to get an actual grade rating. The grade system should be pretty simple to understand.

At 2/15/03 10:57 PM, Screamer_cs wrote: Would someone please tell me how to compress my movies, so people dont have to wait forever to watch them(not that anyone would watch MY movies but...)
thx

I got some tips - I hope they help.
1. Don't use pasted-on pictures in bitmap format unless if you have to - try to use the tools on flash to draw stuff you don't really need bitmaps for them - e.g. drawing a few lines, circles, and anything simple, and even some complicated stuff that involve straight lines, solid fills, linear & radial gradients, arcs, shapes, etc.
2. Compress sounds by going to their properties and converting them to different formats like mp3.

As long as the movie's less than 5 megs, it's ok on NewGrounds. Good luck on your movies - spend time on them and trust me, a lot of people would want to watch them. And even if they're crappy, people still do watch them to decide if they should be blammed or protected.

Yeah, just sign in as normal and click the "view your profile" under the neat stuff section. Or, you can click on the "view profile" link that should appear next to anything you do in this site. It's that simple.

Well, there are not many large recently updated (within 2 weeks) topics with this many replies in the political section. The largest recent ones here with the exception "Gays should NOT be able to marry." and this topic have only 4 pages maximum - most of them only have 2, which is less than 60 replies. So that's why I think that this one's successful. What I like about the political forums section is that it doesn't have as much crap as the general forums, and most people who post here tend to act nicer.

Is it wrong to be racist to yourself and your own race, sometimes, as a joke, as long as you still claim to be part of that race?

Shit.. that last post I posted in this topic was my 250th post and I didn't say anything about that because I was busy congratulating DarkBlueFlame753 on his topic! Damn!

Buttons
Either make something on your frame and go to Insert/Convert to Symbol while selecting it to turn it into a button, or go to Insert/New Symbol (Hotkey: F8) and start from there (you can do the same thing when you make a graphic or movie clip). Everytime you want to add the button you made, go to the library and drag it out onto your frame. It's that simple. Go to the actions window of the button to add actionscript. Some simple commands in actionscript are very easy, and some are very complicated and hard - if you want to know more about actionscript, contact me, because I don't want to fill this topic with all kinds of junk you may not even read - I'll post or E-mail that only when you ask for it. By the way, if you want to make a button work, make sure that you make the frame stop, unless if its a moving button, because if you don't, it could just flash in the movie for a fraction of a second and not give the user enough time to click it.

Sounds / Music
One of the ways of adding sounds in FLASH 5 is to go to File/Open As Library, change ur "FILE TYPE" drop-down menu in the select file window to "ALL TYPES", select a sound file, and drag it to your library. Then, on the frames where you want the sound to play on, either go to the sound panel and select the sound file in the library from there, or just drag the sound file from the library to the body of the frame you want it to play on.

And one more thing... about clothes - I wear pants that are considered to be a little baggy (not fall-off-and-show-your-boxers baggy, but baggy), but noone sees me as a "chigger" (Sure, I listen to what they call "black music", but people don't really care) or a white-wannabe that is crazy about punk rock (I listen to "white punk rock music" too - you can never combine these two genres tho and listen to both at once, they just don't go together well, but I like both kinds at differnt times - this is very different from many of my friends - not many like both). They just see me as just an average Asian, and some probably won't even look at my skin color.

Response to: White America Posted February 19th, 2003 in Politics

I still wonder why people are forced to look at skin colors so much. See, that's the basic problem that we have. It would've been much better if you actually paid more attention to... hair or stuff like that. Skin color is something that you can't change (I'm not gonna get into Michael Jackson and all that stuff - but basically, skin is something you should never change), but hair, well, you can change your hairstyle as often as you buy new clothes. Anyone can choose to have curly hair or punk rock hair. Any male (or almost any male) can grow the same facial hair - like the same beard and same moustache.

Yeah but that didnt go one for a period of 300 years and im quite sure he wanted to go into war and had a choice too go or to stay unlike the millions of slaves that there whole life was slavery people being brought and died enslaved image if you family did a job your entire life and were'nt paid one time.

Yes, the slaves died with much more pain than people in wars, because they were forced to hard labor for their whole lives, without making any single decision on their own. 12 bullets in your leg and waiting for yourself to slowly bleed to death may seem more painfull, but that's just waiting for a short time compared to the time the slaves had to go through with their pain, until they died. The only worse thing that I can think of than this is genocide. I'm glad that Canada has been great to the African-Americans at times during the slave trade to free many slaves.

About the part with wars and soldiers getting shot down while fighting for their country, race, etc., many people are forced into wars - and I'm not talking about the civil war. Even if they're not forced into wars, many brave heroes die in the front lines when they volunteer to take the shells for the ones behind them. Many soldiers also deserve a lot from their country for their courage - like the heroes of World War II who went into a lot to defeat the Nazis and the rest of the Axis.

But to say that it "honors the memory", or any such thing, by giving money to their ancestors is pure crap. It's not accomplishing anything, and the people never suffered on account of it. All they're doing is milking the government for money.

I'm in total agreement with that.

Yeah, that's true. The current generation of African-Americans was never enslaved, and aren¡¯t refugees from third-world countries (well, at least the ones that were born here and had their roots deep in North American soil). If money is just given out to the current generation, how are the ones that have suffered going to get it? I think the only right way that money should be spent on this is to spend it on special events on remembering the ones who suffered, and the ones who made a difference - e.g. Martin Luther King Jr., "Black History Month" (in some schools).

N E ways, yeah, anime is a great thing. I like it. I can't see why people hate it just because it's fake - not because they think it looks bad, but just because it's fake. Kinda stupid, right? For me, anime is a great thing, but the real girls are the ones that look the best. Holy shit... I just typed a load of meaningless crap there... excuse me.

(This was originally part of the previous post, but I separated it because it's another long paragraph, and I felt that the reader would be bored if I didn't)

What I'm saying is, that the best thing we can actually do for the ones who have suffered, and who are not alive right now, is to show them a better future for Earth. I'm sure that if many African-Americans who had been suffering from slavery in the past are watching us, they would be glad that the conditions for African-Americans now are much better than their conditions in the past.

Slavery reparations? Yeah, I do think that African-American slaves from back then did deserve more than just freedom, but something to make up for the mistakes that the European-Americans made, and the shit that they suffered for no reason. (The Asians were in really dangerous labor in North America before, while working on the railroads - many did die, but that's nothing compared to living your whole life as a slave - that's hard, and sometimes highly dangerous labor, 24/7. Being a slave is the next worst thing from being a victim to a genocide. The government back then did deserve a large punishment, but then, now everything has changed, and I guess that since we're just born in this more equal generation, we can't blame people that are in this generation for what has been done by people a long time ago by their grandparents - people they had no control over. And the African-Americans of this generation - they never passed through the slavery, so if they get anything (I'm not exactly saying that they shouldn't, but), they didn't earn it. Their grandparents did.

Exactly... that's what I was saying. Graphics are excellent - they're the winning thing about the game, but the gameplay is very simple and many people do get bored of this kind of game very fast. But yeah, you have to give credit for their graphics (chicks, backgrounds, etc.) - the graphics is exactly what lots of people admire in this game. That's what makes those girls hot (well, compared with other 3d anime, anyway), and that's what makes so many people drool and say "I want this game".
