Well, Tomoko, if you don't want your pic to be seen again, I guess you're gonna have to go to every site you've been to, and delete it. You never know where people are searching.
Yeah, I noticed that yesturday (Or today, I forgot), and I was wondering why Tom or Wade didn't put anything over the front page to announce it - Well, I guess it's because this is a pretty minor change. I was gonna make a topic on this too, but I got lazy, so I waited for this topic.

LOL yeah, that pisses me off a lot even when I'm 1 point from the next level, so I could imagine the angry faces when people are 0.1kb from it... so would they give out tenths of exp points? They already stopped giving them by units, and are giving them by 10's, and this was from a while ago (I was here when they still weren't gave out exp. points by 10's. Damn, that's really confusing.

The USA doesn't need Canada's help, you guys helped enough by letting terrorists slip through your borders.
Well, yeah, but it's not our responsibility to keep terrorists out of the United States, right? (I think I talked about this in some other topic, were you there?). It would be our fault, and only ours if the terrorists we let in got the CN tower blown up, but it's your responsibility too, to check the people that cross your border, from Canada, Mexico, or from another continent. Yes, we were not totally right in giving them a chance to slip through, but it's not totally our fault.
Like they say, nobody is cautious before disaster strikes.

Dude, it says on your profile (you're welcome, for me raising your popularity) that you're in Ottawa. Go tell Jean that! I'm in Toronto, ON, too far from there. Sorry but I can't help you.

Yeah, me too, I guess we're not going with your country this time. Well, we can't always agree on everything, can we? We're two separate countries, and we have to have different opinions once in a while.

Me too... I know, this has turned to be a general-forum topic... but who cares, I'm joining in too... O yeah... I already have.

This topic turned from serious to insane and to the level of the general section. Time for nerdy politics name calling...
Damn... I can't think of a good one...
Sorry Ted, you're gonna have to go alone on this one.

Thank you for your deposit, Ted_Easton! You now have 945 experience points. You need 1 more to get to level 10.
The next Grounds Gold day begins in 2 hours, 49 minutes and 42 seconds. Come back then and start racking up more experience points!
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
LOL yeah I hated that when it happened too. Up until level 8, it was easy to go up the levels, but once you're at level 9, yeah, it becomes a real drag. I think I was one point short on the day before I got to level 10 too and it was really annoying. Damn, it's the same for going up to level 11... and the higher ones... zzzzzz

White America? Damn that was a pretty good topic but it dried out when DBF left, and I revived it a few times, but it still didn't work. Then, I just agreed with Ted_Easton to abandon it. An 11-page topic all gone. Well, I have a feeling that this topic is going to go well.
And if you're DBF and you're reading it, I'm sorry, I tried.

True, I didn't feel like posting here at first, but then I entered (when it had 0 replies), but I decide to leave it for later, so when I come back, there's 3 replies already.
BTW this should be in the Where is/How to section of NG BBS, but if you've posted it here because a lot more other people go here, it's understandable because people do it all the time.
*Looking at third page, reading posts, sighs*... there goes this topic and its posters... meh, I think I'll join them in... nah... posts? who needs them... I've already had my fair number of posts here, if I didn't post too much already. :D
At 3/17/03 10:33 AM, TheEvilOne wrote: Has there been any talk up in Canada about tightening up security? It's something that probably needs to be done. It's too easy to get into Canada and then cross the US border.
Yes, there has been talk up here about tightening up security, maybe not as much as there must have been in the United States, but there has been some talk, even before Osama showed that we were on the hit list again, but especially after that.
At 3/15/03 01:59 PM, TheShrike wrote: I wish I could agree with what you wrote. But I think it's crap.
Osama and his idiots hate the west, and while a terrorist attack on canada is not impossible, why bother when there are still so many good US targets? If they attacked canada, it'd be 9/11 all over again, but probably less news coverage. Bush would show his condolences, and so would the leaders of every other self-respecting country, but the circus wouldn't last as long. Security is tighter, yes, but it's not impossible for them to get into the states. Especially if they use operatives who haven't made a name for themselves yet. I guess what I'm saying is that they know that an assault on Canada wouldn't have the same impact, no matter the amount of carnage, when another successful attack on the US would be gold. A big slap in the face. They want to slap us again. Not you.
And for Pete's sake, lay off the fucking pilots, already. It's not like they said "Whoa... lookie here, CANADIANS!!! Let's bomb 'em". If those guys had been frenchmen, you'd probably be laughing. Well, maybe that was a little too far, but it's clear that a communication breakdown was responsible for that. They didn't get the message "Canadians at 12' O Clock, nuke the fuckers", they weren't even told about them. They were told to pull off, but they honestly thought they were under fire, in a war zone. On the battlefeild, sometimes all you need is to think you're under attack. And friendly fire happens. It's a fact.
And why were they conducting live-ammo drills at night, anyway?
Ok sry I went a little overboard lol ok...
I guess Al-Qaeda does want to make a bigger scene in the United States and in Canada... and I'd like to add to that that Canada's their main entrance to the country, without us it would be much harder for them, since I don't think Mexico gives free citizenships like Canada does...
Now, I noticed that security's pretty much higher too (Not that they haven't mentioned that about million times in the news), when I went to the States to visit my cousin (Wayland, MA - near Boston), Security at the border crossing (I was on a bus), it took them about 1 hour or even two to just let around 30 passengers around the bus. When I was on my way back to Ontario, it only took them 15 minutes to let approximately the same number of passengers across.
At 3/14/03 11:30 PM, Ted_Easton wrote: Into north america, yes, but it isn't at all our responsibility to keep terrorists out of the US. They still made it thru US customs.
It's true that it isn't our responsibility to keep terrorists out of the U.S. - we should only be responsible for our own country. What did we do to deserve that "friendly fire missile" from the American aircraft that killed 4 of our soldiers while they tried to help the U.S. in a battle?
And on the other end, we're on Osama's hit list too. Imagine a B747 crashing into the C.N. Tower in Toronto, killing thousands as it falls onto the Skydome (giant baseball stadium right under the tower).

I don't think anything is very insulting here, except for some of the things I read about the French. Some were just evil.Yeah I guess I do go off on the french alot but they did something back right after 911 that just really made me so mad (the gov. said and french were protesting that they would not turn over any terriosists or help us locate anyone related to the 911 incident if there was any chance that they could be prosecuted and executed because they dont have the death penalty over there) and then now they cant show any support. And its not just that they cant show any support but just flat out sticking their noses in the air. But the comments and protesting after 911 is what really set me off. What do you think?
Canada's a country with no death penalty too, but if we didn't do anything to 911, the U.S. would've really been pissed at us, because our low security level was one of the reasons the terrorists could get into North America. So we had to do something, even if we did not want to.
At 3/14/03 01:11 PM, panik wrote: hMMM I guess its easy for you to have debates with the same people who have the same opinions as you. Hey!!! just think this way you will always be right!!! Wow what a concept. Infact every body will be right because you all have the same opinion. And there will be no arguements or fights... I think you came up with a plan that will create world peace. Blonde haired, fair skined, blue eyes, children of the corn. Have fun being right.
That doesn't sound that bad, but then if we did all share the same opinion it won't be so interesting right? I'm not saying omg ok just come here and fight someone for the fun of it, but debating isn't totally about offending other people. It's pretty interesting to see people with different opinions coming to here and posting their opinions, even if it totally goes against yours, so you can argue for your side. If everyone in the world had one opinion, how boring would it be? There's two kind of fights... the retarded one - when people fight for stupid reasons like "OMFG ur a N00B, omfg ur opinion sucks, just stfu", and the one that's actually reasonable - when people can go against another person's opinions or statements with good reasons, like "No, the U.S. is not doing even close to everything they can to reduce carbon dioxide that causes the greenhouse effect, they said told the Kyoto Conference in 1997 to go fuck themselves". The second one may seem nerdy, but it's the only way to start a reasonable debate.

BTW... it would be great if people can post links to different topics in this topic that are related, to allow people from here to post there in case they want to concentrate more on it. I remember some topics on the situation with Iraq, but I think they're dead.
At 3/14/03 12:22 PM, TheShrike wrote: Yes, but I do not hesitate to mock any nation that was conquered by Germany back then. Yes, the US ignored the problem until it was too large, but so did every other nation in Europe. Hitler's rise to power and the buildup of arms in Germany... C'mon... it was just a few years after WWI, and these guys were PISSED. Yes, the geographic location of France does leave it rather exposed, but the French have no one to blame Vichny (?) France upon but themselves.
I guess France did have fault in it - ok, it wasn't only the geographic location - I guess it was a lot more than that. In about WWI... Germany did have a good reason to fight - they were fighting because England bossed them around too much and took over so much of the globe (WW2's genocide was totally wrong though)... but let's not get into that, and go back to talking about the current situation with Iraq.
At 3/14/03 11:54 AM, TheShrike wrote: nah, Mr_Y, you're welcome. You speak your thoughts well, and you don't waste other's time.
And I would like to say that Yes, France does wear a huge 'kick me' sign. Less than a century after their best military and political accomplishments, they rolled over for the Germans. (or was it more than a century? I forget... too quickly, anyway)
And sometimes I think the french just pick sides to oppose the Brits. At least they have solidarity.
in any case, it's so much fun to pick on the french. I oppose the whole 'Axis of Weasles' bit, but I gotta admit.. it was funny.
It's more fun to pick on the french than it is to pick on Canadians. Even if busting on the canadians is easier.
Yeah, thanks again for welcoming. Canada in terms of international decisions almost always follows the U.S., but here, even our government is unsure about war. About France, I'm not going to talk about the "kick me" sign, but their geographic location really affects them in terms of war and conflict. They have an open seaway in the Mediterranean Sea, which links them with 3 continents (Africa, Asia, and Europe). They are also linked with many countries with their opening in the north. This makes them a big target.
At 3/14/03 11:32 AM, TheEvilOne wrote: I think you'll actually be quite welcome here.
Thanks. Great! I have a good feeling this is going to be a very successful topic. So I guess anyone should be welcome, as long as most of their posts in here contribute to this topic. As long as there's no useless spam, which doesn't happen often in the politics section anyway, we're OK. If anyone wants to spam, they can go to the general section of NG BBS.
About the anti-war idiots who bullshit, that's stupid. They would just show the leaders how stupid it would be to stop the war. The job of trying to stop the wars should only be left for the ones who can actually give good reasons to debate on.
As a Canadian from Toronto, Ontario, many people here also want to call off the war. My friend said that his friend went to an anti-war protest, in this city, I think, just for fun, not that he had strong opinions on this war, but protests, of course, mean many people here do have many strong opinions. My classmates also have some strong opinions. Some friends (not only Muslims) - I don't think that he supports the terrorists, think that the war is just an excuse for an assault against Muslims, and I'm sure many think the same, but right now, I'm going to remain neutral and read the others' opinions until I see some good opinion that I'd like to debate on.
I think that it would be interesting to have people all over the world in this topic, or at least all over North America, describing the effects of the situation on their area, and their opinions. Make sure to mention your actual location and country, so people do not have to look in your profile and maybe find a blank next to your location if you forget to fill it out.
Sorry I came in a little late... And I guess people will probably get pissed when I post here, since my name wasn't on the list :(
I just wanted to say that this is a pretty good topic - the lounge is a good idea for people in this thread to hang out.
Ok I won't be surprised to be kicked out or yelled at after saying this.

LOL you're right... no point in keeping this alive. I wonder if DBF would be disappointed if he came back and found his topic dead.
n e ways... AGREED. No more unnecessary posts made by me after this, just to keep this topic alive. 18r.

Me neither... I've had this nickname since... I forgot... 2000 or something? Me neither, I have no intention of changing my nickname. I used this nickname not only on NewGrounds, but also almost everywhere I could think of... I only have a few nicknames that I could think of that I've ever used on the net with my classmates like Xiaoxiao, CTweapons, and [CHINKY_LTD], (that's all I can remember), but I didn't like those very well, and on NG I kept mr_y.

Yeah, some time in the past I used to like to blam (and save) a lot, but I got bored of it, so I do like only 5 a day or sometimes maybe 10... depends on how many movies there are in the recent 50 at that particular moment, just to do that so I can deposit my experience.
After you change your name, you friends don't recognize you either, unless if you have something in your signature pic that tells them that says something like "formerly known as mr_y (<<insert your name here)" or if your nickname is close to the last one.
(Sorry for my long post before, some people get pissed at that)
Yeah, I guess I don't like the idea of changing names often either. It's understandable if someone gets so many enemies after him/her and needs to run away (lol), and I haven't seen many cases when people needed to do that... most people who get into that situation just get a new account and abandon all their stats, if they never had high ones, because when you change your nickname, everything you did on the site that was recorded changes to the new name. Otherwise, I don't think that it's really necessary. Well, you might want to change it because it could stand for something you liked before, but it's not worth that trouble of "starting as a new guy on NG" again, if you ask me.
