Response to: The Clock Crew Situation Posted December 2nd, 2002 in NG News

Geez... you clock crew guys don't have to get all so pissed off about it... you know, so many flash movies are being made fun of on Newgrounds... in the assassin section, and in many other places too. I don't think these users should be banned - I am not agaisnt the CLOCK CREW either, but I don't think this is a big deal - just live with it, like all of the other flash artists that have been made fun of - most of the flash artists were made fun of either cuz they're too good, or they're too crappy. Many videos in your series were crappy, and they got blammed too because of that, but I cant say that they're all crappy - some arn't that bad.

Response to: Stolen Bike Posted December 2nd, 2002 in NG News

Man, I feel sorry for the guy that lost his bike... fuck... I almost lost mine once when I forgot to lock it, people from my school at another time took all the parts of my bike out so I had trouble getting home one day... And I've heard of many people whos bikes got stolen... why can't people find better things to do rather than stealing other people's bikes? Yeah, man, it must suck, and if you're reading this (I'm refering to the guy that lost his bike)... this is common... and yeah, hope it never happens to you again.

Response to: NG Chat! Posted December 2nd, 2002 in NG News

The NewGrounds chatrooms are working - I've been able to access them using a few different computers. I think it's just that most people that go to newgrounds don't come to chat, but to only view flash videos and play games. Many users also don't stop to chat because maybe they're concentrate too much on improving the data on their profiles. Maybe you should give credits for people stopping at the N.G. Chatrooms, I donno.

For the people who have never went yet, I suggest you check it out - it's not bad, and it's worth the try.

LOL... In Canada Thanksgiving was over a long time ago... before Halloween (so the leftover, rotten pumpkins from Thanksgiving could be carved :D). Damn, we all need a break from school.

Response to: Code or crack for Flash Posted December 2nd, 2002 in Game Development

At 12/2/02 11:01 AM, 37OHSSV_0773H wrote: hey does it have to be kazza light or will normanl kazza work

Normal Kazza works, man. I got my flash with a cd key in a package by NORMAL KAZZA - you just have to search for software and it's almost sure to be there - it was for me. If you don't find it the first time, keep on trying - you'll eventually find it.

Response to: Code or crack for Flash Posted December 2nd, 2002 in Game Development

When I got Flash, I got a CD key with it... I am pretty sure that that program package is still there... When you download Flash from Kazza, it often comes with a CD KEY, so keep on searching. I'm not sure if the CD KEY GENERATORS for FLASH work, if there are any, but they're worth a try too, if you can't find the FLASH + CD KEY package I told you about.

Response to: Sound Effects Posted December 2nd, 2002 in Game Development

Oops... Sorry that I didn't include this in my previous posts: You may know this already, but I am posting this just to help, in case you don't, or just do not pay attention to this. I've told other people this too in the Newgrounds Forum. If you can't find your sound file, make sure that the "File Type" drop-down menu is at "All Files" - This has happened to many people I was helping before - They couldn't find the audio files, because the menu was set to the default selection: "Flash Movies", so it only showed flash movies instead of sound files.

Response to: music Posted December 2nd, 2002 in Game Development

O yeah... Sorry... I forgot this: You may know this already, but I am posting this just to help, in case you don't, or just do not notice this. If you can't find your sound file, make sure that the "File Type" drop-down menu is set to "All Files" - This has happened to many people I was helping before - They couldn't find the audio files, because the menu was set to the default selection: "Flash Movies", so it only showed flash movies instead of sound files.

Response to: music Posted December 2nd, 2002 in Game Development

O yeah, and to have the music or sound playing during a frame or several frames, drag it from your library to the desired frames - toward the face of the frame, or select the file from the sound tab of the frame.

Response to: music Posted December 2nd, 2002 in Game Development

You can also go to File / Open As Library and select the sound / music file. Make sure that it says "all files" under in the drop-down menu below the filename - it's labeled "files of type", and select your file. Then, in the small window that should've appeared, the music file should be displayed. Drag the music file into your library.

Response to: HOW DO I MAKE A CHARACTER JUMP Posted December 2nd, 2002 in Game Development

Yeah, KINGCODY's idea is not bad, but I think you can also imput some quadratic formula in... People might have done that. I'm not sure... this may be a little complicated. Na... I don't think that will work either... I donno then.

Response to: Sound Effects Posted December 2nd, 2002 in Game Development

O yeah, and to put the sound to play in a frame, you can drag the sound file from the library of your movie to the frame. It's pretty easy.

Response to: Sound Effects Posted December 2nd, 2002 in Game Development

Record the sound or get the sound file for it, and then go to open as library, and then select the file from your computer. After doing that, drag the file from the small window to the library of your movie.

Response to: Actionscript Posted December 2nd, 2002 in Game Development

O yeah, by the way, every flash (with the exception of banners - they don't have to have any, but shouldn't be submitted 2 newgrounds either... but many people still submit them), even movies SHOULD have actionscripts, to have a preloader, and a "start movie" button.

Response to: WADE PLZ BAN YOINK Posted December 2nd, 2002 in General

I kinda agree with Shoopuf_Rider ... why should a movie like this not be blammed? It's just a single, animated frame, with a photo of some guy in it and some music playing in the background. How can anyone actually accept some movie with one frame in it? If you want to ban someone of NewGrounds, can't you just E-mail Tom Fulp? Y does the portal have to be flooded with this kind of short flash files? Anyone can make something like that in about 30 seconds!

Response to: I want FLASH Posted December 1st, 2002 in Game Development

Don't take Flash 4 - take Flash 6 of MX, or at least Flash 5, if you can't find them. Get it off something like Kazza man! It's really easy to download, about 10 megs - you shouldn't be this lazy, it's really easy - you just have to watch out for viruses - scan your file downloaded from kazza with an antivirus.

Response to: I need YOUR opinion Posted December 1st, 2002 in Game Development

O yeah - one more thing - try viewing "XIAOXIAO 3" (IN MY PROFILE - ONE OF MY FAVORITES), "COUNTER FORCE EPISODE 1" - the preview of my flash video submitted (without permission) by my friend: they have the in - video next frame / previous frame, and "HOSTAGE SITUATION", also one of the favorites in my profile - has the best DVD format you should look at - scene selections, text, and many other things, so check it out - it may help u.

Response to: I need YOUR opinion Posted December 1st, 2002 in Game Development

You should have special effects, commentary... and many other things a DVD has, like the ones mentioned by other people. I wold also suggest that you have a special layer for buttons to allow the user to go to the previous or next frame during the movie. Credits, of course, might work, and then there's always the scene selection feature. Play a DVD, and take points down - you can learn from that by trying all the options and looking at everything the DVD has.

Response to: Actionscript Posted December 1st, 2002 in Game Development

Actionscript is something you put in the actions tab of your buttons - it's useful for making your movie interactive. It may be as easy as making a button in a frame lead the user to another frame or making the frame stop by itself.

Response to: Shooting Games. Posted December 1st, 2002 in Game Development

If you want the user to do something, convert the target the character is supposed to shoot into a button, and then set the actions to perform a certain action as a response for the shot, like to go to another frame, and you can show the bullet being shot in the other frame the button redirects to.

Response to: Message to Tom Fulp Posted November 30th, 2002 in General

Tom Fulp? He runs this site. He has more things to do than the average newgrounds user - don't blame him for not having a good account. He has to do a lot of other shit. If he wasn't busy he'd probably have a post on this topic by now.

Response to: please help me Posted November 30th, 2002 in Game Development

You first turn the drawing or animation into a movie clip or graphic by selecting it and going to Insert/Convert to symbol, converting into the symbol, right clicking it, then going to EFFECTS and the ALPHA TAB - it should be there - u can type the percentage of ALPHA there

(THIS SHOULD BE SIMPLE ENOUGH)

Response to: please help me Posted November 30th, 2002 in Game Development

O yeah sorry my previous post described teh wrong type of shadow. U can also turn it into a movie clip too... make all the frames for the stickman in the matrix scene in the movie, then paste them on different consecutive frames at the same location to make them follow each other. To avoid the movie clips from repeating, cancel the loop feature, or make the last frame of the movie stop the video clip (in "actions"). You may want to paste the original frame for the stickman on top of the other copies of the movie clips to make it stand out, or move the other copies for the shadow to lower layers. Lower the alpha or brightness for the duplicates, making each one darker or more see-through than the other duplicated clip - this should create the feature. For more help, u can email me at yushanh@hotmail.com for more help - I'll be glad to help and demonstrate it.
That's it... I don't wanna overflow the forum - I just wanted to try to post a helpful message, so l8r.

Response to: please help me Posted November 30th, 2002 in Game Development

The easiest way to get a shadow for a stickman, or any other figure, is to put a circle on the bottom of the figure where the floor is supposed to be - I've seen it on Zhu's (the creater of xiaoxiao, one of the best flash stickman collections on the web) movies - on xiaoxiao 9 he just put a circle with a radial gradient. You can also copy the images from each frame, paste them a little below the figures, where the ground is supposed to be (if the matrix scene is the one where the guy is in the air, and if he's on the ground, connect them to the figure to match the guy's legs), and resize them to be a little flatter if the light comes from above the guy.

Response to: kazaa?? Posted November 30th, 2002 in Game Development

What I hate about kazza is viruses... I downloaded FLASH 5.0 a long while ago on kazza and it was successful... no viruses, but you better watch out for them, cuz there's always some guy trying to destroy another person's computer. MAKE SURE U SCAN ALL .exe files (software) DOWNLOADED FROM KAZZA WITH AN ANTIVIRUS, or you'll be taking a risk. And if many people share the same file on kazza, its likely to not be a virus. AND YES... you CAN download flash from kazza, there are a lot of software programs, you just have to search harder. I got mine by just typing "flash" on my search textbox.
