Finished uni now so no excuses to not be doing artwork all the time, especially personal art such as this.
Currently I'm just trying to develop my style and generally just improve my skills.
Just a little WIP from my final uni project, got to tighten somethings up and add a background but hey, might as well update the thread.

also i'm really digging the face studies from up top.
Thanks very much mate.
I could be wrong but I think it's from "On Death and Dying" by Kubler-Ross.
Long time with no update it seems.
Have an illustration I did for my mother, I discovered the quote when conducting university research for a dissertation. I mentioned the quote to her and she really liked it and as I intended to illustrate it anyway it seemed like an opportunity to do something nice.

Well, if it's up yer street mate fair enough. Haha.
Not my usual thing to draw but I was taking requests to use as warmup paints and sketches and this was one of them.
Worked on this, the composition wasn't helping the original idea so I changed it, used it as a way to experiment with brush settings with SAI before putting it in my scraps folder and calling it a day.
I might return to it a later date, but for now it's can chill where it is.

But let me explain this, We may love doing art, but as a hobby, for ourselves. Once it becomes for another person for something they want done it's no longer for ourselves, which makes it work.
Many hours are put in to pieces, and those accumulative hours that are put in to a piece are hours we can never get back, if it's a piece for someone who isn't willing to pay and just wants something for free, we just wasted our time just because they said we would get credit for it.... if Credit really had any worth, then Sure, more people would do free art for others.
Haha, I knew I should of posted a bit more to clarify the whole intent of the comment.
I was merely pulling your leg mate, sorry for the misunderstanding caused by my part.

Although there is usually nothing better than learning from life and studying, I have some resources that may help you.

Free Andrew Loomis books up for download, which I recommend you look at even if you just browse.
On another note you want to bring some life and gesture to your drawings, a lot of pin-up illustrations have lovely open poses or else nice and strong silhouette. The initial drawing you've show us quite closed and you want to start thinking about the body language usually shown within the genre you are portraying. Pin-up women usually exude a sense of confidence that adds to their appeal.
Keep at it!
This is naturally just a suggestion but you should really be bringing your own ideas and concepts to the table.
What makes an artist interesting is not only the skill, the style or whatever else shown in their drawings but their ideas.
If you wish to appeal to your audience you must pay attention to what they like without blatantly turning round and asking them. Go out into the world and look at what is out there, see what is popular and do your best to understand and learn why it is so. With this knowledge you can apply yourself, your skills and your art style to best appeal to your intended audience.
Even more bloody Final Major Project work.
A small study based on some wonderful green hills in Tibet.
Nice sketches! Try working a little more on your line control as the shakeyness is letting them down a little bit at times. Confidence of line can be a hard thing to master, but it'll you out in the long run. Keep up the good work!
FMP (Final Major Project) work again.
Drawn from references, just trying to get a feel for a character and such, this was a quick study before I went ahead and tried to stylize the face a bit more.

Thankyou very much, much appreciated!
Plonking another image up from the same project, a rough sketch like the earlier one. In the story I am slowly creating the character is for lack of a better phrase at 4 in the morning, tripping balls.
A sketch for a project I'm working on.
Funtimes.
What I'm loosely calling a 'finished' version of the previous image.

I'd have made the right side significantly smaller, more of a front or 3/4s facial view, more deformed; as if melting a little. Etc.
Aah, I see what you mean. Thankyou for your feedback, if I give the image a fresh new go I'll keep that in mind and jot down your critique on the image itself for future reference. Ta mate.

Here's the latest update until I decided to sod it and move onto newer things. A little bit of an update for the thread whilst I work on somewhat more boring illustrations.
First thing in the morning and I'm led in bed laughing my tits off at that. Love it.

Hahaha, brilliant thankyou. That's going to be stuck in my head from now on.
Thankyou both very much.
I've been considering streaming my process for sometime, but I've got a terrible attention span and I doubt it'd be an enjoyable experience for watchers, haha.

So I reckoned I'd show a little bit of what I've been working on lately. This is a work in progress and it's taken a few turns and reached one or two dead-ends before reaching this point, for now however I'm happy with the painting style and how it's turning out.
For now.
Some more university work.
I had a lot of fun with this (even if I did want to tear my hair out toward the end) and I'm pleased with the final result, I'll probably return to it after recieving further critique from peers and tutors so if anyone has any suggestions, please speak up! I still need to learn a lot after all.
A little doodle I can began the other day, going to finish it off later in the day.
Another sketch for the project above.
Had a lot of fun with the headshot on this one, I only wish I had time to explore more with this creature, but alas, short deadline!
A quick sketch for a university project, loosely referenced from the image of a deformed gentlemen, struggled with the values and defining the form, especially considering how rushed the sketch was.
I must continue to improve on my sometimes rather sloppy attempts at defining form.

Many thankyou's Captain, I am grateful for your kind words and your interest in my work.
I'm actually terrified of clowns. :)
Happy Halloween.
