Well that looks awesome.. but then myquestion is how they got the first sketch? and how do they ever animate it? with the bone tool?

At least in one of the videos (Undead Cyclops Boss) Dan shows how he animates.
Basicalle he rotates, skews and tweens the drawings as much as he can
and whenever he needs a new angle or something he draws another version of the character.

Well... look at poral defenders, or even dino run.

I believe they used the pixel plugin on Dino run
but usually artists simply draw in flash.
Check out the Behemoth Devblog
there are some cool videos of Dan drawing the castle crasher grafics.

I like the cartooney style
but the blurred blood effect is bad :/
You should add some more gore and also draw the blood with the same style as everything else in the game.

Response to: character picking help Posted March 16th, 2009 in Game Development

Oh shit! I came across the same problem a while ago

You have to change it to

onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
If (_root.player.sex == female) {
_root.penis = false;
}
}

also remember to change the building variable from 'sexchangeshop' to 'baptstChurch(1)'

This is just ridiculous. These things that you call different 'styles' are just different ways of trying to copy the way that someone else draws. . And behing that unoriginal mask I see your own immature and undeveloped style.
Just keep on drawing til you develop your own style and then be happy with it. Don't try to copy someone else and then ask which one we'd like to see the most, cause if I want to see eddsworld, I wont be looking at your userpage.

uhh sorry about the GIF
I tried JPEG but for some reason flash didn't render the darker parts.
Apparently the GIF didn't work either..

Response to: I made a map Posted March 7th, 2009 in Art

This is how I worked on some depth in flash
First I created a blue background. Then I added a glow filter to the islands ( I chose a lighter blue as the colour). And then drew a rough shape on the parts of the water that I wanted to be deeper/darker > converted to a MC > added a blur filter

I made a map

I bought Flash CS4 a while ago but i haven't been using it very actively
soo I though I'd draw something.

here's a WIP
the red lines are the one's that I drew at the beginning "the scetch"
and the black lines are the more 'cleaner' lines

I simply thought they looked cool on top of each other :D

I'll be posting more steps as I progress

Just a question, roughly how long do you work on a piece like this.

lol yeah
i bet you're waiting with your dick in hand for him to reply "umm about 45 min roughly.."

anyawy SNOOPSGUY
I don't really like that 'piece'
and the reason for it is effort. or the lack of it. I don't think you spent too much time on the doom text which prettymuch ruins the fairly interesting shape you had there.
My tip to you: don't just start something and then take the brush tool and scibble something blurry shit on top of it
and then go "Ummmm... i think i call this art. OKAys I'm righabout done here"

Hey I didn't come up with those rules
but they clearly state that you MUST post your art IN the forum and not just link to it :)
tho you can add high-res links if you wish

and multiple posts are allowed and, in fact, preferred
so go ahead

btw your art looks cool

Sadly, what Darkaxl said is the truth.. scibbles scibbles scibbles scibbles
I'd tell you to spend some more time on these drawings before posting them to Art
but as I've learned from your previous threas: it takes you shitloads of time to even make these scibbles

I don't exactly enjoy putting people down but you really REALLY have to practice a hell of a lot more

Also, everything you post here seems to be "rough sketches"
how about posting some finished work for a change. Surely saying that your drawings are 'just sketches' isn't an excuse, right?

If you're going to have the tentacles react to the jellyfish's motion, you could just use kinematics. However, if you're going to have the tentacles create the motion, the best solution would be to simply animate it. Animate the jellyfish contracting and releasing. This will allow you to create a better product, quicker, and easier. Plus, if you use kinematics for the tentacles I don't think it'll look as life like give that Jellyfish's tentacles don't just hang around, they actually help propel it.

Actually the motion is created by the mushroom like head part of the jellyfish. The long tentacles that I'm talking about simply hang around and 'zap' enemies when touched.

But thanks, I'll try to use kinematics

AS 2 kinematic tentacles Posted January 18th, 2009 in Game Development

At the moment I'm practicing ActionScript by writing simple AI
and currently I'm working on a jellyfish

The ai is pretty simple to write but I'd like the jellyfish to have some longer tentacles that would float below the jelly and react to the jelly's movements a bit.
kinda like in this video
Drawing the tentacles would obviously be a bad idea since the jelly's movements are more or less random.
So is there a way to make tentacles in AS2?

I can see that your pretty new to animating. That's why I don't think it's a good idea to start by your own 'series'. Making your own series I a very ambitious project. Before you think about making it you should practise by doing little animations. Maybe do an animation, simple titled, "killer rabbits" and as you progress and get better then do another episode. But if you think you can do it, make your own series.

As far as the little intro goes
It's very short but somehow I like the style. Makes me laugh :)
I'm definitely waiting for this one.

Another little note:
try using the line tool to draw simple things like curls of hair
and then animate them using shape tweens.
That way you avoid drawing the curl over and over again

:blablabla it would be possible, but I would be drawing the same thing over and over and over again, just from different angles. Is that really how it is done? It would take me forever to do 1 minutes worth of animation.

2nd reply in a row
Usually if you're using fbf you wont do anything too complex or time consuming like spinning the camera around the character. Different angles are acceptaple tho
Also in fbf more complex movement like fighting etc. are usually drawn in less detail

Anime also uses lots of tiny bullet time/slo-mo scenes to add drama and to make fighting scenes seem longer with less work

I hope i've helped a little ;P
