Topic: Adobe After Effects

Posted: 11/06/07 08:12 PM

Forum: General

I had a few questions about this program, and video editing in general.

I am interested in getting into video editing, and i have decided upon purchasing after effects. However, i noticed that after effects cs3, was....WAY TO MUCH FUCKING MONEY, So i decided to check out the older versions. So i checked out after effects 6 professional and was wondering what your guys's opions were on this.

Also, i was wondering if Adobe after effects 6 professional could do everything in the following video..
http://youtube.com/watch?v=f2mjewtrWrQ

Im really interested in using masking, and other effects shown in the video above. Does after effects 6 let you animate different things in keyframes such as cs3 does?

Please hit me with any knowledge you have, and i will be very gratefull.

thanks in advance

Topic: Audio interface question

Posted: 08/19/07 12:19 AM

Forum: Audio

Hey.

I was looking to get two products until now.

An audio interface, and this guitar port thing.

Here is a link to the guitar thing

http://line6.com/toneport/hardware.html (see the UX2)

Now i was wondering. Does anyone know if i can use that guitar interface as a normal audio interface for plugging in Instruments for use with any program?

Also, do you think i can use this to make my Rockit5 monitors for my default speakers on my mac?

Thanks again.

Yup. To fix that, increase your buffer by clicking Options>Audio Settings and dragging that slider to the right until it stops popping.

In order to have fruity loops run better without that popping, you need to either adjust your audio settings, or but a better audio driver. ASIO is a good way to go.

Rewire is just the ability to link the two programs with eachother. No VST or anything like that, just something written within the code of the software.

MPC is hardware.

And one isnt "better" than the other. The features are different. I just wanted people to argue about which features they enjoyed that the other mpc didnt have.

I get that, but what im saying is, plugging it straight from your headphone jack to your mic jack will record what would come out of your speakers if they were plugged in.

How about describing to me why you wish to do this

The easiest way to do this would be to just PM an audio portal moderator, with a link to your submission and the problem. They will be able to upload it for you without a problem.

Topic: to get an album?

Posted: 07/11/07 02:27 AM

Forum: Audio

Im not quite sure what your asking for. Ive always had a dream to release an album. Some trip hop that told a story. However, the reason i would release this album would be to get any "exposure" or "fame", but more so to release an accomplishment of mine, and a story of my life, and my experiences.

Try releasing an album for yourself, and your own needs, instead of trying to achieve others life stories.

Its really quite fun, and independently, the challenge is great.

Also, why wouldnt you upload your work to Newgrounds? At first, i thought it would be so people wouldnt download your work, but you just claimed that your songs are downloadable on soundclick. Newgrounds is a great place to showcase your work.

Also, if your trying to get your music exposed to the public, theres alot of great material out there to read to find out more about how to do that. Just get in touch with your genre mentaly and spiritualy. Find out where its played, and why its played their. Find out what it brings people, and what makes it enjoyable in that atmosphere.

Contact me if you have anymore questions.

No, Its not. Conversion of every single file requires a program.

Besides a few exceptions, perhaps in notepad. However, if you send me the file, or upload it, I could convert it for you.

Forum: Audio

There isnt a definition to a "good" kick drumsound.

What are you looking for? Do you have any knowledge in EQing? What about layering? Filtering?

Perhaps its not the kickdrum sound that needs to be worked on, but your ear and talent for manipulating sounds, instead of just dragging and dropping them into your song.

Are they the speakers on your computer?

Im not sure i understand why you would want to do this, as there are alternatives to get an mp3 extracted out of almost anything that will come out of your computer. However, if i am overlooking something, the easiest way would be probably just to unplug your speakers and run a short 1/8 to 1/8 cord from your speaker output, right beside it into t he mic jack.

let me know if im misunderstanding you.

That's really not useful for making music- also he could just do what I said, it isn't that hard

Sorry for the double post, but YES that really IS useful for making music. 60% of Hip Hop music produced is sample based. AKA, they take a song, and slice a part of it they like, and break it into little parts to arrange them how they wish.

Alright, but hear me out on this.

I can either buy yet ANOTHER program for converting MP3. to Wav, or i can use edison, which can use both. I dont even understand how you guys are making file converters part of your argument. FRUITY LOOPS CAN USE BOTH. it just seems kindof rediculosu to me.

Also, i thought i should point out, im not meaning to be rude at all here. Im really trying to have you guys prove me wrong, so i can find the beauty in sampling with reason. So again, no hard feelings at all.

Are there any free converters on the web worth getting? Could somebody link me?

Not only do i need ReCycle as a seperate program from reason for sampling, but now i need a mp3. to wav converter AND a program to slice up my samples into things less than a minute.

Thats 4 different programs i need, to do one thing. Could someone please tell me how that isnt absolutely rediculous?

Rex is just a format, to make us pay more money. Instead of using a conventional format to do the things rex does. (You can easily do it without a completely seperate file format)

Now we cant use any other program for slicing and sampling.

And for people like me, who crate dig/internet dig, Not all files are in highquality, Wav format. I enjoy the grit on some low bitrate MP3's.

All in all, i would really just love for someone to explain to me if Wav. MPC Based sampling (be able to slice into different sections and play at different times) is possible WITHOUT recycle.

Well what the fuck. I dont see taht whole rex thing as an upside.

how about they just let you import WAV/MP3 Files, so you never even have to fool around with that REX bullshit anyways.

Ive used a "copy" of recycle on my Vista system, which is a seperate system from what my reason is run on. If someone could get in touch with me about that, that would be great.

Am i the only person that is way more satisfied with Fruity loops sampler/Slicer then Reasons Recycle?

I havent found one benefit yet.

The Fruity Loops "Edison" Slicer is better for so many reasons, i cant even think of any disadvantages

1.Same Program. No need for multitasking programs, and more importantly, no need to purchase another 100$ program after already spending 300$
2.It can open Wav. AND mp3's (unlike the stubborn recycle)
3.It can open up sound files as big as your processing speed will allow you to. (Ive opened samples that were well over 60 minutes, then trimmed it down to the part that i like, then chopped the sample up. Both things that recycle CANT do

Will someone please convince me to enjoy this program? I really want to be able to use reason for sampling, but from where i am right now, in considering just buying an MPC.

In order to make this "Fun" For newgrounds users, you need to step up, and learn a thing or two about music.

People on newgrounds dont want to spend time trying to match tempos, or find guitar parts that are in the same key.

Let me help you out.....

give us a tempo, a key, and how many measures.
