I'm not quite sure what you're saying here, but are you talking about reusing parts of one frame in a different frame for fbf animation?
Like make the head a layer, the eyes a layer, the mouth a layer, the eyebrows a layer, the body and arms a layer, and the legs a layer.
It makes it so when you do an action, you don't necessarily have to redraw ALL those parts, rather, if all those were put into one layer, you would.

and when you mentioned puppeteering, that means i can make my character's hair blow in the wind! all i do is create different poses as symbols, and swap them out on each frame, correct?
Idk if you need symbols, but if you create a layer for the hair and redrew it in each keyframe then put that animation in a movie clip, it would be a continuous hair blowing motion.
and to adjust the speed of the animation, i just fiddle with the FPS?
The two easiest (And most professional) fps are 24 and 30. The thing about constantly changing the fps is that if you are making a movie you'd have to go back and adjust all the stuff everytime you adjust the fps. It's just easier to either add more/remove inbetweens or space the frames out to a constant fps till you get it right.
i'm getting the hang of it!!! The only thing i may run into problems in the future is when to use movie clips during FBF, and how i will make a character's head turn, or make their body turn and flip, etc.
That's great!
The thing is for those motions you gotta redraw just about every part of the character. Animation isn't easy, but if you pull those off well, they're really enjoyable to watch.
Bunnykill is FBF, so i just realized that's how i should be doing my animation if i want it to run smoothly like that. (yes that's mainly the only animation i feel is worth being inspired by) My character can finally walk without choppy movements.
Bunnykill is a kinda a slew of fbf/tween mix. I personally don't like it because it seems really messy to keep track of all those symbols, but i guess so people do.
Can you upload some of your work to swfcabin.com so we can give you advice? :3
