are you using multiple hard rives? sounds like some corruption errors
Crazy. Apple developed MP4 lol

I've tried converting from camstasia studio 8 and swivel more than once.. I've evn tried other formats; nothing seems to work. I've tested these out on numerous devices...
Any tips or tools anyone could recommend?
MP4 should work just fine on apple devices. and Swivel uses this codec. and H.264 compression is apple and swivel's default. there must be something else holding you up
well Zee you're probably going to have to program the entire collab in one large array and convert all the graphics of our parts into movieclips. this is gonna make it hard to play the entire collab in one go if someone chooses to watch it that way. either way that much programming is a bit beyond me.

let's keep this thread alive. try and get as many people as we can to use it. and if you're organizing a collab link to it in your thread topic. i'll leave this in my dump so we don't lose it.

win-key + F1 is help. and FN+F10 is brightness. are you holding down another key?

how fast are you at full backgrounds? and what about just coloring the backgrounds if we provide the lineart? send me a private message and i'll send you some samples
i can never give up flash. i use way to many actionscripted elements in my animation

Hey, this is actually quite neato!
If you hadn't much items, then it's no problem. But having a ton of stuff in your library can be frustrating. This will change everything.
Thanks for sharing.
i've compiled a few collabs for people way back when and this has always been the biggest headache. that and file conversion. but that never bothered me since i always have the newest version of flash
okay guys. what's the worst part about doing a collab?
putting it together.
and why?
cause you motherfuckers can't name your symbols to save your life!
so i'm presenting for a limited time, libAppend!
just install libAppend into your adobe extension manager, then in your project highlight all items in your library. then it's just Commands->libAppend. enter your name for the prefix followed by an underscore (i.e. "MaxV_") and libAppend will autoname all the symbols in your library for you.
let's try and get this added to the creator resources so all of you collab organizers can take a load off when it comes time to compile.
Disclaimer: i did not make libAppend. it's about 8 years old and i've always had it installed on my computer, but just recently found the .mxp for it so i can share it now.

I made a really rough thing of how I thought it might begin to look like. and I'd like some feedback on how it looks. Thanks!

so i'm guessing the 'thing' that comes out first is an exaggerated nose? rather than having it retract into the tree and having the cat emerge, it should stay where it is, then have the cat emerge springing into place where the nose would be.
you've got nice art! i'd say just too many filters. there's an old Hollywood trick of smearing Vaseline on the camera lens to give everything a light hazy feeling, and that's the feeling i get from your filters. it looks cool at parts but don't overdo it! anyway looking forward to seeing more
you are correct in the draft part. it looks like what you're doing is called "Straightforward animation" which is no good.
a lot of people break it down by this, and i'll use your walk as an example
first draw your "KEYframes" which would be entering the scene and leaving the scene
next you want your extremes, which are foot contacts, passing frames, and height of step
now your inbetweens to see the movement
now your spacing inbetweens, slowing into the movements, and slowing out where appropriate.
if your pacing is off go back and add/delete frames where needed
drafting is very important, and makes an animation feel natural
the last 60 frames collab had some continuation parts, so i don't think it's entirely out of place. i think 3 parts would make more sense and have them spread out so you keep getting small parts of the puzzle.
as for the animation you're going to have to stretch it as it has no easing, or rather too even of spacing. the movements are a bit unnatural

i have no idea what's going on in this clip so idk lol.
i'd say no, but i've seen most of the entries so far anyhow so it doesn't quite matter wither way.
did you get a menu or someone to make it yet zee?

hey guys, if you submitted a CS6 entry please consider it done. i've finished converting all your parts and sent them to zee. i stayed good about not watching them because i can't wait to see the finished piece. good job to everyone who's part i've seen so far! :D

i think keyboard shortcuts are edit>Keyboard Shortcuts...
but there's no default for duplicating layers. you might want to reinstall flash when it starts acting up like this
At 1/28/13 05:51 PM, TurboSheep wrote: As a quick follow up question, how would you define 'start small'?
Could you give a few examples? Like, just a few simple actions or something?
What do you recommend beginners start with? Thank you.
best starting animations are things like the flour sack, bouncing ball, then work your way into a walk cycle and other advanced movements. you'll end up building yourself a good library of actions to use and reuse
so are you looking for managing a large file and film, or screen direction and effects creation. as you eluded to both of them.
hit your neighborhood google for Adam Phillip's BCA Flash books. first one's free but i suggest buying the other two.
for your effects you can check out other books like Elemental Magic I & II or one of my favorite sites over at http://flashfx.blogspot.com/
start small, work into something large, then ask for the specifics when the time comes, but until then focus on keeping your forward momentum in your projects and try and learn/apply something new each time
i think the biggest advantage of this converter is framerate. you won't have to watch the new madnesscombat in low quality, you don't have to screencap to send to youtube, and you need to sacrfice quality in the animations for functionality in the browser

didnt you already send these to me? i converted them and sent them back to zee. or maybe he sent them to me. anyhow. already done.
and wally you got yours now to send to zee.
just a heads up that this finished product will be a terrible eye-strain with the background and content changing every second. you might want to set some guidelines or you'll have yourself a disco-ball of a movie
sorry just found that answer in the FAQ's. Finally able to use flash's "3D" at a framerate over 6fps. great product Mike. Changed the game for everyone. if this isn't fully supported and endorsed by Adobe then i don't know what would be
