i'll be having nightmares because of this thank you
stop talking about how much you've improved then posting pictures. its best to leave it to our imaginations. if my kid brought that picture home i wouldn't put it on the fridge.

for sure. but it's not him bashing the program that bothers me. it's his ignorance

your art looks good. like you're appealing to a child friendly job. but your animation is really lacking. all movements are jerky from one movement to the next. You've got the basics down but you're missing the building blocks of animation.
It shows promise but you have to brush up on fundamentals. Animation is a lot more than just straightforward movement.

you make me smile
very nice effects bane. a bit too jumpy/few frames throughout. the fire was well done though.
and great great great coloring on the water. very nice
very nice models. some of the animation looks a bit stiff and the camera moves WAY too much for my liking.

pretty solid. looks like it could use a few extra frames in spots to ease in and out of the morph
well let me cut that list down.
- awful for drawing- user error
- awful for roughs- user error
- awful for rigged characters- user error
- awful for big scenes (borders restrict)- borders are user-set
- there's no camera - true though remedied with actionscript
- there's no multiplane- what do you think layers are?
- easily crashes- user error. i've crashed maybe 3 times in the last few years. and auto-recovery has saved my ass
- it's not even an animation program- subjective
- bad gradients- false again
- no textures- false
- no bones- false
- no colour pallet -(incredibly false)
- no dope sheet -(false- guide layer)
- no 3D view (not necessary in 2d environment)
- no perspective - doesn't make sense
- no morhping! -false(free-transform while holding ctrl)
- low on effects -false
- less variable tools -objective
- less custom set up -false
- no rotate view -true(wow you're 1 for 20)
- no set pivot points -false(have you ever opened this program before?)
etc.
i've come to the conclusion you've never used flash.
fire has been updated with a 4th filler symbol. i'm trying to add a new symbol every day now but this effect is being back-burnered

unwanted boiling.
only redraw the parts you need to to keep from having unwanted movement. this is probably also coming from using a high smoothing setting. i never crank the smoothing over 20% because it gets wonky. maybe post an example and i can help you out more

hey buddy. been kinda out of the scene lately.
anyhow yeah i thought this was how it was starting but the guy got very false-hating on a program he can't use. It just smacked of ignorance so i wasn't gonna sit around and listen to it.
also @Grub when you want to illustrate a point that you've made improvements, show something with improvements. an outline of keyframes shows nothing. again i agree that other programs handle things a lot better than flash, but you hadn't even scraped the surface of the program and you think it's useless.
At 9/7/13 04:36 AM, Grub517 wrote:there's a fine line between a program's limitations, and your ownIs there? From what I've learnt flash can't do what I can. Flash should not be used for animation, and it should not be encouraged.
from the look of you animations you've hit the limits of the program. i'll now take your words as knowledge and profit from them
also, no
good luck pimp. i wouldn't even imagine wasting money on a cintiq, but if it's what you want then go for it

also not his question. your point is invalid
when we work on our main film, it's such a mix i can't even describe all the programs we use. sample
sketchup for evnvironment layout
photoshop for bg paintings
flash for /most/ animation
after effects for post-processing
3dsmax for 3d elements
swift for 3d renders
toon boom for any rigged elements
swivel
flash again for any scripted/actionscripted elements
after effects again for compiling
i use so much shit but most animation is done in flash.
At 9/6/13 06:08 AM, Grub517 wrote: In all seriousness, why do you choose to use Flash for animation?
I've only known about flash for just over a year, and I'm well aware that it's not ideal for good animating. You can't even draw decent roughs without having each stroke turn into it's own object (or is there another way?). Why don't you use real animation software?
I don't understand stand why people choose to use it. It has a lot of flaws. I'd like to know why...
been using it for 12 years. back then it was the only thing on the market. now it's my old standard.

In Adobe Illustrator pen pressure works fine, but in Flash, the tab doesen`t appear at all!
Please help!
he'd have the same problem since they all detect wacom drivers. uninstall every wacom/penabled/tablet driver you have then start over
really like the character and timing. only thing bugging me is the frame-rate. feels...weird. But great job!

I've heard there is like a pixel plugin/addon but can't find something for CS6.
Help please? :C

thats it bby! couldn't remember that site to save my life. thanks for finding/linking/sharing
+1
was an old pixel plugin way back. Not sure if it's CS6 compatible or even where to find it. well, technically it was still vector, but it would make squares like pixels.

me and a buddy use google drive with sync folders to prevent this from happening. everytime a file is updated in the sync folder (i.e. saved) a copy of that save is sent to the google drive host and any linked folders. so now i have a local file, he has a local file, and there is a cloud stored file as well.

looks like a good place to start. you would benefit from having more frames of mouth shapes as some of your extremes move too much(closed to "O" for example) and since most of what you've shown is dialogue you want to make those parts as smooth as possible
