Hi,

Just trying to upload to the portal and getting an error message that my width is over the limit... but they won't tell me what the limit is.

"Error - Your width of 960 is larger than o"

So I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me what the limits are.

Also, will I have to go in and change the file myself to meet the limits, or will putting in alternate dimensions on the submission page automatically resize? any problems that can come up from that?

Apologies if it's covered elsewhere.

Hmm, I think the file might be long gone. I'll try and send it someone but I think importing the swf to a new file will have to do. It's just annoying that I don't have the original layers or graphic names etc anymore.

I hope it doesn't happen to anymore files.

Thanks for the help.

Using Flash 8 Pro on the shitty Windows Vista which can't even open a graphic without taking about 5 seconds, I saved a file then now when I go to load it I get a load of nothing. No timeline, no stage, nothing. And if I try and play around with it, Flash closes on me.

Anyone else had this problem? I've saved loads of files with Vista and Flash 8, this one randomly decided to fuck up.

I have a working .swf of the file, so what's the best way to import that without having to redo the animation and layers of it?

That's how its coded now but its repeating the image. Any way to change that to stretch it?

Nah no dice.

That's the code I used and it just puts the image in the 'about me' section isntead of recognising it as a background.

It's starting to bug me but I feel like I gotta go through with it now.

Thanks though.

I'm trying to do over my myspace with a background image that stretches the entire screen. Also fixed.
Can anyone hook me up with the code that I can chuck in the "about me" section?

Whenever I try it just makes the image stretch into the about me section instead of the background, or I can get it into the background but never stretched.

Thanks.

You speak like you have authority by making the bold statement that the ONLY exception is RATM, but I can safely presume you haven't heard cLOUDDEAD, Sage Francis, Buck 65, Subtle, Madvillain or any other groups or artist that they don't play on the top 40.

I know you're all going off 50 Cent and Dr. Dre, which is fine, but don't pretend like you have authority to judge an entire genre of music based on the select stuff you've heard. Judge what you've heard, and until you've heard what Rap is capable of, don't make some bullshit conclusion. It's lazy as hell.

It doesn't have to be either metal or hip-hop. It's all music and there's good and bad in any of it, instead of focusing on the image associated with it, try actually listening to the music.

Downtimes you should only worry with your host.

That's what I thought. So are you not connecting to the domain through the place you register it? Or are they all just reliable?

It's just the prices to vary a lot. I could go for a 20 dollar a year one, but I could also go for an 11 dollar a year one. No idea what the advantages are if any.

I know a few of you would have a .com or .net domain for your websites and I was just wondering a things before I commit to one.

The prices of them vary a lot, so what's the difference in them? If I went for a cheaper domain registration site, will it mean downtime or troubles with it?

Any info on what to look out for would be appreciated.

Thanks.

That many producers of HUGELY succesful series all come together to create a simple animation site with worse toons than those produced by just a couple of college-age brothers (Brothers Chaps, Super Flash Brothers)

Well it was huge back in the day. Mr Wong and that were very popular.

And it's a matter of opinion. While you think you can compare actual real deal animation to the Super Flash Brothers, I happen to think they're the best cartoons on the net. One was written and voiced by Larry David, and just about every writer and producer on there have worked on shows like King of the Hill, The Simpsons, The Late Show or Fraiser. I guess it just lost it's popularity when it stopped making shorts.

And okay, maybe the Flash animation is a little primative, I think the drawings are still more solid and appealing than most of the popular stuff on here. But you have to consider that these were some of the first Flash cartoons.

They don't belong here though. It's unfair to have things that were animated by studios and written by bigshots in Hollywood.

Hey, AJ, if you are who you say you are, can you please respond to my message?

Oh well if you actually read his posts, there's no doubt he's not who he says he is.

I wish people like this would be checked out beforehand. Think about the proper submissions that should have won awards but are overlooked just because this attention seeking, pathalogical liar who feels so unfulfilled in his life that he has to pose as people more talented than himself, for no gain other than strangers saying work that ISN'T HIS is great. If anything it's just promotion for IceBox which has nothing to do with him. It's such an odd impulse some people have.

But there's a small chance I could be totally wrong and he is from Ice Box. But I'd bet my life he's not Al Jean.

Does anyone actually know who Al Jean is? Producer and writer for the Simpsons? Do you REALLY think he'd be submitting old IceBox shorts here now and start posting like crazy on the BBS? I mean come on, don't users get checked anymore when they claim to be someone famous?

I don't know, maybe there's some mistake I'm making, but I'd be REALLY surprised if it was really Al fucking Jean posting and submitting old cartoons.

I'm making a small little Zombie Shooting Game, technically a sequal to this:
http://newgrounds.com/portal/view/181651 but don't worry, it won't be anything like it.

I did the first one myself, just with simple movieclips for the score and timer that I filled in the numbers with, but for this one, I want to have things like a proper score where a certain score will allow you to go to the next level and a proper timer.

So pretty much I just need someone to add me on MSN (mattg3@gmail.com) and help me out with this, maybe even other things like timing the zombies to make it skillful etc.

Check out www.mattworld.2ya.com for examples of other games and cartoons.

Thanks.

I can't find a way to do it with Microsoft recorder either.

Nerdgrounds would be much more accurate. I mean, look at all the Star Wars, Zelda and Final Fantasy shit that gets such high scores and so frequently come through here. You are all in fact nerds, so why not be more open about it?
It would also be more user participated, represents this place as a community, because I doubt that Tom Fulp made this place a stingy place for social outcasts, it was all you who come on here for a chuckle at some poorly executed Simpson and Family Guy rip-offs with some Mario references chucked in to make you think it was clever.
